Most single-shot sequences, aren’t. What you’d swear are single takes are actually seamless edits — but that doesn’t dilute their mind-bending power. Even better: one-take action sequences like the third-act corker in “Atomic Blonde,” which sees Charlize Theron battling scads of baddies in a longform, long-take sequence designed to look like a single shot.
David Deitch’s film is filled with heart-pounding action scenes (Theron cracked multiple teeth while filming the Cold War-set Berlin spy thriller), but it’s that big final battle that action fans will remember. And while “Atomic Blonde” feels fresh, the sequence takes plenty of cues from single-shots that have come before.

Every Hotel stay must come to an end, and American Horror Story delivered a final installment Wednesday that included a poignant death, several not-so-shocking returns and a ghost becoming addicted to social media.
The anthology series’ season finale opened with Iris and Liz calling a spectral summit: Sally and Will’s incessant murdering of guests was doing nothing to help the newly gussied-up hotel’s Yelp score or future reservations. And without customers, March chimed in, there’d be no way for the Cortez to make it to Aug. 23, 2026 — the date the building could be determined a historical landmark, ensuring...

Movie merchandise is big business. But some people will try and slap the name of The Avengers or Batman on anything...
Cool film stuff can be almost as fun as actually going to the movies. Think of a Batman cape, an Arnold Schwarzenegger action figure, or Goldeneye on the N64. Hell, the merchandising can often be more enjoyable than the actual film – remember how much fun the first few months of 1999 were before Star Wars: The Phantom Menace was actually released?
Yet, in the chase to make a quick buck out of devoted fans, some... let's just say less relevant, movie merchandise is churned out and flogged to the public.
Here then are 50 of the strangest (not ranked in order!) – expect action figures of obscure henchmen, 16-carat gold Twilight jewellery and some truly vomit-inducing burgers…

He is a lazy lazy lad. And she is one helluva crazy Punjaban whose kookie cooking drives her sullen husband up the nearest wall. Disgust on the dining-table camouflaged in tons of table-salt, Sanju(Emraan Hashmi, pitch-perfect in his spousal indolence) would probably have gone on tolerating his wife’s appalling culinary skills matched only by her hideous fashion sense, if only he didn’t decide to pull off one last heist that would make him and his inept cook of a wife rich for the rest of their life.
Take-home food, here we come!
Oh, I forgot to tell you …. Hashmi plays an expert lock-picker, the kind of safe-bet who can crack safes faster than we can say ‘Saif Ali Khan’.Forgetfulness comes easily in this crazily unpredictable dark comedy about an ordinary Delhi couple’s...

Gimme raid, said the fake Cbi officers who in a daredevil swoop-down on a well-known jewellery outlet in Mumbai in 1983, escaped with a loot worth lakhs. If done today it would have been a heist worth crores.
But that’s the devilish beauty of Neeraj Pandey’s second feature film. Though set in a world where lakhs were a large fortune, he gives us a caper-thriller worth crores. The period detailing of the 1980s-the cars, hotel lobbies, clothes, hairstyle and most importantly, the attitude to wealth acquisition(scams were unknown back then, scandals were as far as the financials over-reachers went)-they all add a lustre of underscored believability to the proceedings.
Morality is a prime casualty in the tale. And if crime should not be allowed to pay in...
