Davy Perez
- Writer
- Producer
- Additional Crew
Born and raised in East Los Angeles, Davy's varied interests as a kid have stayed with him as an adult including comic books, roleplaying games, horror movies and playing guitar. His father was a spiritualist from Mexico and his mother a proud Catholic Chicana. This duality has fostered a sense of esoteric wonder in Davy and his creative output is filled with fantasy, mystery, and other worldly stories.
Growing up in Montebello, he began playing with local Punk bands at the same time acting with various sketch comedy groups. After being expelled from four different schools, he eventually dropped out of high school and supported himself working odd jobs including being a part time DJ. Background Acting led to opportunities for Davy to work on production sets as a Set PA. During this time, Davy began attending the Playhouse West Repertory School and Theater. After landing some roles on stage and screen, Davy taught drama at the Los Angeles Music & Arts School. At the same time, he attended Los Angeles Community College to codify his hand on experience. Davy then found himself working in Creative Development at ABC Television Studios and Universal Cable Productions.
In 2013, Davy Perez was selected for a NALIP/HBO Latino Writer Fellowship. The following year he was a participant in the 2014 Disney ABC Writing Program. A multi-faceted autodidact, Davy began to shadow television directors and direct his own short films in tandem with working up the ranks. His extensive hands-on experience and varied skill set has proven to be an asset in his current role as Executive Producer.
