Ryan Kaji is getting ready for his big-screen debut. The 11-year-old face of the Ryan’s World brand will star in Ryan’s World the Movie: Titan Universe Adventure, a collaboration between the Kaji family’s Sunlight Productions and their partners at media company pocket.watch.
The feature film will expand the Titan Universe that has popped around the Red Titan character. The Ryan’s World superhero has become a central focus of the brand as Ryan has aged. Some of the Red Titan’s first off-YouTube appearances came via shoes and parade floats, and he’s about to embark on his greatest adventure yet. The Titan Universe film will take moviegoers to a comic book world when it hits theaters in late 2024.
Ryan will star in the film alongside the rest of his family: father Shion, mother Loann, and little sisters Emma and Kate. All of the Kajis will portray fictionalized versions of themselves.

HBO confirmed that it canceled Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty after two seasons. The news was a surprise, coming only moments after the network aired its second-season finale on Sept. 17. Hecht is the co-creator of the series with Max Borenstein.
My wife burst into tears.
I didn’t have that on my “Winning Time Cancellation” bingo card. I mean, I knew, following nearly a decade of doubts and fears and highs and lows, my HBO series was coming to a jarring conclusion. But then my phone lit up with condolence texts. My mom left a teary voice message. My dad’s email included a link to an article announcing the cancellation, “In case you haven’t heard …” What if I hadn’t? And I had to explain to my step-kids what the word “canceled” means in the TV universe (“No, we don’t have to move”).

The escalating rivalry between the Los Angeles Lakers’ Magic Johnson (Quincy Isaiah) and the Boston Celtics’ Larry Bird (Sean Patrick Small) takes center stage in the trailer for the second season of HBO’s Winning Time.
In the footage released Monday from the basketball-centric series created by Max Borenstein and Jim Hecht, the Lakers are looking to build on the success of Johnson’s rookie season, which was the focus of the first season and culminated with the team winning the NBA title in May 1980. The second season debuts Aug. 6 on HBO and Max, and it spotlights the squad’s ups and down from 1980 to 1984.
“Ain’t nobody scared of Larry Bird,” Isaiah says as Johnson in the trailer.
Lakers coach Pat Riley (Adrien Brody) is a bit more concerned about the challenge posed by Bird and the Celtics: “They’re won their rings. We’ve won ours. None of...

It begins with a gesture. Twinned gestures, really, though they’re not identical. Laura Linney and Jessica Hecht enter from stage right and stage left, respectively and face the audience. Linney’s hand sweeps away from her body presentationally to the audience, It’s a fun and curious movement as if to say ‘here you are and here we are’ at once. There’s a sharp edge to it, though. Is it mocking and, if so, who is the target? Hecht soon makes a similar gesture, though the body language is sloppier with a ‘whatever’ nonchalance. And we’re off.
The two actresses begin to recount the story of how two very dissimilar mothers, Diana (Linney) and Alice (Hecht) met and how they improbably became close friends…...

When looking at the recently announced Tony nominations, you might have noticed that the Best Actress in a Play lineup has only four nominees. That's because there were fewer than nine leading actresses from the 23 eligible plays during the 2022-23 Broadway season. Due to Tony rules and regulations, only four women were able to nab a spot. As a refresher, those four women are Jessica Chastain for A Doll’s House, Jodie Comer for Prima Facie, Jessica Hecht for Summer, 1976, and Audra McDonald for Ohio State Murders. Given that Hecht and McDonald are the only nominees for their respective plays, the potential winner is surely a contest between Jessica Chastain and Jodie Comer...

Broadway can be a loud place, with belters belting and orchestras swelling and actors playing to rafters in the theater across the street, so it’s both comforting and mesmerizing to see a play as quietly poignant as David Auburn’s Summer, 1976.
Starring Laura Linney and Jessica Hecht – both outstanding – Summer, 1976, a Manhattan Theatre Club production opening tonight at the Samuel J. Friedman Theater, recounts a long-ago friendship that, on the surface, doesn’t seem particularly unusual or outwardly impactful.
Two women, both connected to Ohio State University, are brought together through their young daughters: the mothers are part of a babysitting co-op, and though the two women take an instant disliking to one another, circumstance and proximity begin to wear away their defenses. Alice, played by Hecht, is vaguely hippie-ish, married to a professor and often carrying a joint or two, while the other, Linney’s Diana, is a single mom,...
