Ed Sheeran revealed that he’s working on new music — but don’t expect to hear it anytime soon.
In a new interview with People, the singer-songwriter was asked if he could say anything about the music he was working on, to which he replied, “That I’m working on them and they’re new songs.”
He added: “But nothing’s going to come out this year,” he says. “I’m enjoying being on tour. I released two records on tour last year and it’s quite a lot being on tour and releasing records.

As promised, Gracie Abrams has shared her new song “Risk,” the first single from her upcoming album The Secret of Us.
The track was accompanied by a video directed by the singer’s best friend/collaborator Audrey Hobert, who Abrams co-wrote the track with “on our couch at home.”

Gracie Abrams will follow-up her debut album, Good Riddance, with a sophomore effort, The Secret of Us, set to arrive June 21.
Abrams announced the album and shared the ostensible cover art on Instagram, describing The Secret of Us as “the album that I made with some of my favorite people” (followed by a whole bunch of exclamation points). She added that “Aaron produced the shit out of it” — likely referring to the National’s Aaron Dessner, who helmed Good Riddance — and noted that Abby (ostensibly her cousin and the subject of Abrams’ 2022 holiday demo,...

I completed my undergrad at a small liberal arts college in the Midwest best known for its literary reputation, where tortured writers weren’t relegated to a mere department, but were, instead, about one-fifth of the entire student body. Having edited one of the student lit mags there, I share Taylor Swift’s love-hate relationship with would-be poets who define themselves via affected personality quirks and a refusal to complete a second draft.
What’s most odd about The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology, then, is that Swift spends less time delving into what makes people like this tick than she does in imitating and then succumbing to their affectations. It’s the first of the singer-songwriter’s albums since her pivot toward full-on pop that would have been improved by an editor—or, more pointedly, by collaborators with the wherewithal to challenge some ideas that just don’t work.

Two prominent faculty members of the Tortured Poets Department are toasting their chair.
On Friday, Taylor Swift’s close collaborators Jack Antonoff and Aaron Dessner shared their excitement about the release of Swift’s new album, saying they were “forever grateful” and “overwhelmed” to work with Swift.
“Love this album more than I can say …. love you all very much,” Antonoff wrote in a short post on X (formerly Twitter). “More later very overwhelmed … love you taylor.”
Dessner, for his part, shared a photo of Swift in the recording studio while making the double album.

We were already prepared for the devastation Taylor Swift’s eleventh album The Tortured Poets Department might yield but no one could have imagined that she had two albums’ worth of material for everyone to sift through. Her latest is mix of Midnights synths and Folklore/Evermore indie-folk, giving insight into the romantic chaos behind one of her biggest career years yet. Here’s what we learned from all 31 new songs.

The last time Taylor Swift released an album, Midnights, she surprised everyone by dropping a 3 A.M. Edition later that night, loaded with new songs. But it turns out that this time, 3 hours was too damn long for her to wait. At 2 A.M. last night, with no warning at all, Swift announced that her brand-new (and excellent) The Tortured Poets Department was secretly a double album all along. She had another 15 songs ready to go, adding up to 31 in all. (That’s right, 13 backwards.) She really is drilling down...

Poets only want love if it’s torture. And when the poet is Taylor Swift, you always have to figure love and torture are never more than a few verses apart. Taylor became a legend as the poet laureate of teen romance. But that was kid stuff compared to the adult heartbreak of her stunning new album, The Tortured Poets Department. A year after getting out of a six-year relationship, Taylor’s got bad men on the brain. But they’ve always been her specialty. As she notes here, in...

Taylor Swift‘s “Cardigan” is one of the most interesting No. 1 hits to come out in the past few years. While she’s a musical genius, Swift did not create the tune on her own. She revealed how the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic inspired her to work with a rock star. The “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” singer explained why “Cardigan” was different from some of her earlier music.
Taylor Swift’s ‘Cardigan’ was partially the result of self care
Swift has collaborated with numerous notable artists, including Kendrick Lamar, Ed Sheeran, Rihanna, Calvin Harris, Shawn Mendes, and others. Several songs from her album Folklore were co-written by the rock star Aaron Dessner from the band The National. During a 2020 interview with Rolling Stone, Swift said she was a fan of The National. She discussed how she and Dessner created her song “Cardigan.”

KiKi Layne, breakout of “If Beale Street Could Talk” and other indies, sings and performs in Nicole Riegel’s SXSW premiere “Dandelion” as a Cincinnati singer/songwriter in a downward spiral. IndieWire shares an exclusive first look at the film here ahead of its March 10 premiere in Austin at the 2024 SXSW Film & TV Festival. Riegel previously directed 2021’s “Holler,” a blue-collar drama starring Jessica Barden.
Here’s the SXSW synopsis for “Dandelion”: “Dandelion, a struggling Cincinnati singer-songwriter in a downward spiral, takes a last-ditch-effort gig at a motorcycle rally in South Dakota where she meets Casey, a guitarist who walked away from his dream long ago. As Dandelion joins Casey’s nomadic group of struggling musicians, the kindred spirits make music together and strike up a whirlwind romance. Rod Stewart has taken a swipe at fellow UK musician Ed Sheeran, dissing not only the pop star’s music, but also his hair color.
In a recent interview with The Times, Stewart was asked whether he thought timeless songs were still being made, like his own “Maggie May.” While Stewart was trying to remember the name of a “really talented” British artist, the interviewer brought up Sheeran, prompting Stewart to roast the international superstar.
“No, not Ed, I don’t know any of his songs, old ginger bollocks,” Stewart scoffed.
Considering Sheeran has landed seven straight No. 1 albums on the UK charts and released inescapable hits like “Shape of You” and “Thinking Out Loud,” we’re not quite sure how Stewart has escaped his music, but ignorance must be bliss.

The 66th Grammy nominations are just days away, and one of the most exciting races is Best New Artist, a category that can make or break a career. Usually an amalgamation of some of the biggest genres around, the award typically has a great mix of huge breakouts and hidden gems. But among so many worthy debutantes, which eight will make up the class of 2024?
The biggest lock for a nomination this year is Ice Spice. The Bronx rapper has made waves with her infectious style and collaborations with big artists like Nicki Minaj, PinkPantheress, Lil Tjay, and Taylor Swift. Such major collaborations are already a big deal, but Ice has also scored hits on her own, like “In Ha Mood” and “Deli.” Following her victory at the 2023 VMAs for Best New Artist, Ice might continue her hot streak with a Grammy victory, especially with possible support from both rap and pop voters.

For his eighth studio album, Autumn Variations, Ed Sheeran decided to shake things up. Rather than utilizing the power of a major label (his previous albums were released on Atlantic), he’s released his latest LP independently on his own label, Gingerbread Man Records.
The British singer-songwriter sat down for an interview with “CBS Mornings” co-host Gayle King, and explained why.
“You have to be like, ‘I don’t care what people think.’”
“Each record before I’ve done, like, all the big going in and doing all these radio interviews, and going on the late-night shows, and doing, doing all this stuff,” Sheeran said.

As Taylor Swift continues her Eras tour, many have jumped onstage to join her. Last time it was Joey King and the Swifties’ favorite ex-boyfriend, Taylor Lautner. This time, it’s the Haim sisters.
The Haim sisters, Este, Danielle and Alana, make up the rock band Haim and have been longtime friends with Swift. They first worked with Swift in October 2014, following Twitter exchanges between sharing their love for one another’s music.
In 2015, they opened for Swift during her 1989 tour and, in 2020, collaborated on one of Swift’s Evermore songs, “No Body, No Crime.” They also appeared in the “Bejeweled” music video.
Last Friday, the two songs were combined as the Haim sisters wore dresses similar to their “Bejeweled” costumes while singing “No Body, No Crime” with Swift at the Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Taylor Swift welcomed frequent collaborator Aaron Dessner back onstage Friday in Santa Clara, California — the penultimate stop on The Eras Tour’s U.S. leg — for the debut performance of “Right Where You Left Me,” which Swift cautioned would be one of the most difficult songs in her catalog to play live.
“We’re going to do a song that’s one of our favorites that we worked on together, and because it’s one of our favorites, there’s more pressure on it so this is one of the wordiest songs.
