Newcastle United are interested in activating Loic Remy’s release clause if Queens Park Rangers are relegated from the Premier League this summer, according to the Metro.
The Magpies came close to signing the French striker in the January transfer window, only to miss out when the player opted for a move to Loftus Road instead.
But with his club toiling in the drop zone and seven points adrift from safety, it is looking increasingly likely that Remy will once more be on the move in the summer.
Aston Villa are also thought to be interested, as are Tottenham, but manager Alan Pardew will be hoping his contingent of French players at St James’ Park will be enough to sway the player into a move to Tyneside.
Qpr will reluctantly part with their star player, who has scored eight goals since his January move, if they do indeed lose their...

Queens Park Rangers chairman Tony Fernandez will order a mass clear-out at Loftus Road this summer, with as many as ten first team players set for the chop, according to the Mirror.
The likes of Adel Taarabt, Julio Cesar, Loic Remy, Chris Samba and Bobby Zamora will all be sold in order to cut down the R’s huge wage bill and fall into line with strict Football League rules as the strugglers prepare for life after the Premier League.
Fernandez has however assured manager Harry Redknapp that his job is safe regardless of whether the club hurtle into the Championship this season, and the pair are to begin talks as to who should stay and who should go.
Airline tycoon Fernandez has also assured the club he and other wealthy board members will remain loyal and will do everything within their power to ensure Qpr bounce straight back up again next season.

Christopher Samba has passed his medical at Queens Park Rangers ahead of his move to Loftus Road after the Premier League strugglers met the £12.5million release clause in his contract, according to the Daily Mail.
The former Blackburn Rovers defender only joined Russian outfit Anzhi Makhachkala last year, but is set for a return to the Premier League.
Qpr manager Harry Redknapp said on Thursday morning:
“Samba has signed and that is a massive signing for us. That is the key one.
“He has passed his medical. He was having that last night so it shouldn’t be a problem.”
Samba has been playing for Anzhi but manager Guus Hiddink admitted defeat in holding on to the player.
The former Chelsea boss said:
“He left for England yesterday. I hope that today or tomorrow we’ll find out what has really happened.
“It’s a shame to talk about this...
