David Bennett is a career professional in the film and television
industries. Born in Nashville Tennessee. He enjoys recounting that the
first direction he received on the set was -"here's five bucks kid go
for some donuts". He served for four years on the executive staff of
Governor Phil Bredesen as the Executive Director of the prestigious
Tennessee Film, Entertainment and Music Commission During his tenure
there he recruited the Oscar winning film "Walk The Line" to shoot in
Tennessee. Working closely with 20th Century Fox on this project he set
sights on producing feature films. Bennett and his related companies
are currently creating and developing programming and independent
films. David has produced long form music specials for HDNet and PBS.
THE "Outlaw Trail" won accolades as a television special, PBS special
and as a soundtrack CD. Through his partnership in Freewill Films he
has co-produced independent films "The Gundown" and "Thriftstore
Cowboy". "The Gundown"is in distribution worldwide through Camelot
Entertainment. Bennett is the producer of the film "To Kill A Memory"
starring Kix Brooks that will premiere at the American Film Market,
Santa Monica in the fall of 2011. David is also a partner in the social
media marketing firm, SMART. In his spare time he is active in the
community serving on the board at the Nashville Film Festival and is
past chairman of the board for Family and Children's Service. David
also is a past governor for NATAS, Mid-South Chapter.
