It ends, like ours might, with a global pandemic, a new, lethal flu-like virus that figuratively, if not literally, stops the world, closing down airports, limiting travel in, out, and around the country, forcing the government to declare martial law, ultimately leading to a shortage of resources and the proverbial “every man, woman, and child for him-, her-, or themselves” scenario. Living under lockdown conditions during the coronavirus pandemic has been tough on a lot of people, but perhaps none more so than those suffering domestic abuse. Whilst others may think of home as a refuge, the safest place to be, it doesn't always work out that way.
Made when Covid-19 was just a twinkle in its progenitor's nucleotides, Charlie Buhler's debut feature is set during an imaginary 'flu pandemic (also likely to hit us sometime during the next couple of decades) and opens as panic hits Los Angeles. With quarantine measures being imposed, people are desperately trying to escape before they miss their chance. Ava (Jenna Lyng Adams) planned to escape with her boyfriend Kelly (Jackson Davis), but they arrive at the airport just as passenger flights are grounded. Subsequently, wanting to stay in the city to work as a cameraman, he tricks her into getting onto a private plane alone,...

What could be more frightening than the possibility of sheltering in a place that isn't as safe as it looks? In the upcoming thriller Before the Fire, an actress must come to grips with the realization that her rising career has been halted by the threat of a deadly pandemic. Her reluctance to return to small-town living, however temporary, is multiplied when the place she formerly called home forces her to confront something she did not anticipate, which may be even more dangerous than a murderous virus. Jenna Lyng Adams stars, along with Jackson Davis, Ryan Vigilant, and Charles Hubbell. Charlie Buhler directed. The film premiered at the Cinequest Film Festival earlier this year. Dark Sky Films has now acquired all North American distribution rights...

"What's the plan? You always have a plan..." An official trailer has debuted online for an indie drama titled Before the Fire, formerly called The Great Silence, marking the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Charlie Buhler. This just premiered at the Cinequest Film Festival and is still looking for distribution. The plot couldn't be more coincidental with what's happening in the world right now. Which might be why they're releasing this trailer. When a global pandemic forces a TV actress to escape to her rural hometown, an intruder from her past proves as dangerous as the encroaching virus. "The viruses in the present and of her past both lurk around." Sounds extra frightening. Before the Fire stars Jenna Lyng Adams, who also wrote the screenplay for the film, as Ava, plus Jackson Davis, Ryan Vigilant, Charlie Buhler, and Tim Driscoll. Looks exactly like what you'd expect - a woman trying...
