Richard Gablick was born in Brackenridge, Pennsylvania just outside of
the Pittsburgh area. The youngest of five children, Richard's early
childhood was spent in poverty. Richard would study art and music
through his high school years to escape the hardships of a single
parent family trying to make ends meet.
Richard studied voice at Point Park College in Pittsburgh and sound recording at Pro Rangers Studios. He later formed his own studio recording band IN2 The Mystic which records music for future films.
Gablick began studying film at College of Santa Fe in 2005. He would also major in Film Studies and Film Production at Santa Fe Community College. In 2007 Gablick directed and produced the film Morning Embrace, a short music film that was selected for the New Mexico Film Expo and later nominated in the Santa Fe Film Festival 2007. In 2008 Richard's film Vida was nominated in the Earth Spirit Love Film Festival in which it won Most Watched Video. In 2010 Gablick released What If? in the form of a music video. In 2011, What If? was selected on Coast to Coast AM's website in the Entertainment Video Section. The video garnered over 35,000 views which became the Most Watched & Best Rated Video in the Entertainment Section.
In 2011 Richard moved back to Santa Fe, New Mexico to continue his Film Studies at Santa Fe Community College. In the past 4 years Gablick has had 12 of his videos played on SFCTV-Channel 16 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. In 2012, Gablick was an assistant make-up artist on the pilot of the VEGAS series on CBS which was filmed in Santa Fe and parts of New Mexico. In 2014, Gablick released Daughters of the Rhine based on Richard Wagner's 4 cycle opera The Ring and the Rhinemaidens (mermaids) who guard the gold in the Rhine river. The music video played on television in August and Gablick was interviewed on KSFR in Santa Fe, New Mexico. In 2015 Gablick released jUNGLE which is about a Human Rights violation in Palestine. The video played on television in May. Richard continues to work full-time as an Area Coordinator at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico along side being an independent filmmaker.
