Christopher B.J. Smith

Christopher lives in Montreal, Canada. He studied trombone at McGill
University with Ted Griffith and has a Master's in Jazz Studies and
Contemporary Media from Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York,
where he studied composition and arranging with Rayburn Wright and Bill
Dobbins. He is an active freelancer on trombone and tuba and composes
and arranges music for a variety of groups. He taught at McGill
University for 16 years and Universite de Montreal for 8 years, but is
now teaching at Vanier College, where he was named Vanier Teacher of
the Year (non-tenured category) in 2004-2005. He conducts the Vanier
Concert Band and the J.L. Big Band, and is a member of the Sherbrooke
Symphony Orchestra (Orchestre Symphonique de Sherbrooke), Altsys Jazz
Orchestra, Opus Lib Brass Quintet, and Streetnix.
