Even though the incredibly talented Noah Davis has been eliminated from the American Idol reboot, we're still thankful for the gift that he and Katy Perry gave to us — our new favorite phrase! The 18-year-old contestant from Arkansas impressed the panel during his audition in March and shared his excitement by uttering the word "wig" and Katy was loving it. "Did you just say wig?" Katy asked Noah during his audition. "I know. Wig. I feel that already." Unfortunately, at the time, fellow judges Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie had no idea what the saying meant — and Katy and Noah did not want to explain. "It's not your language. It's just for us. Wig." Surely, Luke and Lionel aren't the people out there still curious about this hysterical saying. Luckily, the "Firework" singer finally shared the secret message behind her and Noah's word. What does wig on American Idol mean?...

In what I can only describe as American Idol‘s belated tribute to Easter, Sunday’s episode featured a wonderfully bewildering conversation about baby chickens, led by noted animal biologist Lionel Richie.
While discussing the growth of contestant Alyssa Raghu, Richie noted, “Have you ever in your life thought for a moment: You start out with a chicken — a little chicken — on Monday, and by the end of the week, it’s a full-grown chicken?”
“Was it the chicken or the egg first?” asked Katy Perry. (A logical follow-up!)
“Well, the egg comes first,” Richie replied too quickly. “No, the chicken!

Monday night’s “American Idol” (April 2) delivered the final judgement, with judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan narrowing down the contestants from 50 to 24. One by one, each singer had to look fate in the eyes, and with that came several shocking eliminations.
First on the stage was 16-year old Layla Spring, who bravely took on the Ike and Tina Turner classic “Proud Mary.” Although Bryan said the judges were nervous about putting a teenager through, Spring’s vibrato improved (a directive Perry instructed her to work on), and she made it to the top 24.
Michael Woodward, who seemed so green during auditions, had clearly blossomed in the weeks that followed. On Sunday night’s show, he impressed with the song choice of “Maybe This Time” from “Cabaret,” and on Monday he picked an equally risky tune, “You Oughta Know” by Alanis Morissette. Although it wasn’t the strongest selection for Woodward,...

The revival of “American Idol” on ABC is following the same format as did on Fox for 15 seasons. On the April 2 episode, host Ryan Seacrest will reveal the Top 24 contestants, who will then fight it out over four episodes for a place in the live shows that start on April 22. These two dozen hopefuls were culled from the Top 50 that were revealed on the April 1 episode. To cut this number by more than half, the three judges — Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie — had the contestants sing again.
The Top 50, which was made up of 26 men and 24 women, took to the stage at the Exchange club in downtown Los Angeles on Feb. 8. If you can’t wait till Monday night to learn the results, scroll down to see the names of the 12 men and 12 women that made it through to the Top 24 as well as the songs they sung...

The “American Idol” revival on ABC is following the same format as it did on Fox for 15 seasons. After five episodes focused on auditions, the show shifted to Hollywood week on the March 26 episode. The April 1 installment will continue that part of the process. Expect plenty of fireworks as the three judges — pop princess Katy Perry, country superstar Luke Bryan and Oscar-winning singer/songwriter Lionel Richie — decide which of the hopefuls to take forward in the competition and which will get a farewell hug from host Ryan Seacrest.
Over the course of the three episodes devoted to Hollywood Week the contestants sing in three rounds: lines of 10, groups, and solos. The judges will winnow the list down to 50 who will sing in a showcase set to air on April 2. They will be culled down to two dozen and those Top 24 will be judged on both solo performances and celebrity duets...

“American Idol” may be on a new network (ABC) but has the same host (Ryan Seacrest) and is following the same format that worked so well for 15 seasons on Fox. After five episodes devoted to the auditions, the show shifted to Hollywood where 169 hopefuls had to sing once again for the three judges: Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie.
The first of the Hollywood week episodes, in which the contestants sang in groups of 10 and solo, aired on March 26 and April 1. Only 50 of these contestants were given the chance to be showcased in solo performances that determined the top 24. Those Top 50 took to the stage at the Exchange club in downtown Los Angeles on Feb. 8.
The episode featuring these performances will air on April 2. If you can’t wait for the results, scroll down to see the roster of 26 men who performed, the songs they sung and their eventual...

Noah Davis may already have some American Idol fame from sharing a "wig" moment with Katy Perry, but he's got bigger things to focus on than that. Specifically, he's got to focus on that alpaca he's going to buy at the end of all of this. Davis shared his alpaca plans when we first met him, explaining that he doesn't care what he has to do or where he has to live, but he's going to buy himself an alpaca when he has the money. Even as he's advanced into the competition, Davis has not forgotten his dream, as is obvious in the exclusive clip above. Hollywood week is clearly exhausting Davis with so few opportunities for sleep, but his future pet alpaca is getting him through...

When you really break it down, American Idol‘s Hollywood Week is a lot like a trip to Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory.
Think about it: An army of young dreamers show up with golden tickets in hand, then get pushed to their breaking points until only those with the purest of hearts remain. Honestly, if you told me that Ryan Seacrest is just a bunch of Oompa Loompas standing on each other’s shoulders in a skin-suit, I’d at least hear you out.

After five nights devoted to auditions, the “American Idol” revival on ABC moves on to Hollywood week beginning with the March 26 episode. On the final season of “American Idol” on Fox, four episodes were devoted to Hollywood Week, with the contestants singing in three rounds: lines of 10, groups, and solos. Once the live playoffs of “American Idol” season 16 begin on April 22, you will be able to predict the outcome of each episode in our predictions center. You can already make forecasts for the outcomes on such reality TV shows as “Survivor,” plus the winners of the Academy of Country Music Awards and both the daytime and primetime Emmy Awards.

The revamped version of American Idol has officially kicked off and the judges — Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie — are already making headlines for their outlandish behavior. During the premiere, Katy kissed 19-year-old contestant Benjamin Glaze on the lips, and he did not like the taste of her cherry chapstick! Coming from a super conservative family, Benjamin told The New York Times, "I was a tad bit uncomfortable. I wanted to save it for my first relationship. I wanted it to be special." Not only is the smooch is garnering lots of attention because it was Ben's first kiss, but also because Katy never actually asked if she could plant one on him. And in the era of #MeToo and #TimesUp, unwanted sexual advances can't be taken lightly. (Photo Credit: ABC) However, Ben doesn't see this experience as sexual harassment and even if Katy had asked, he still would have been uncomfortable.

If you stumbled upon the American Idol reboot and wondered, "Why is American Idol back?" You're not alone. The singing reality competition show had a grand (and memorable) farewell season in 2016 after running for 15 seasons on Fox. It was a success, for most of its run, but due to rapidly dropping ratings the network decided to nix the show. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, ABC announced they obtained the rights and were reviving the show with new judges and a new ho... just kidding, of course, Ryan Seacrest came back. So, how did this head-scratching reboot happen anyway? According to BuzzFeed News, Fox planned to bring Idol back in the future — just not one season after airing the "final" season. "It feels sad that it's coming back on another network," co-ceo and chair of Fox Television Group Dana Walden explained. "We spent about $25 million sending a clear and persistent message...
