Tottenham kick off a hectic set of fixtures with a Europa League last 32 clash against Fiorentina tonight.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side have six games in 17 days, including a trip to Italy in the reverse fixture against Fiorentina, and the Capital One Cup final against Chelsea at Wembley.
Spurs are looking to better last season’s progress in the Europa League, when they lost to Benfica in the last 16. The Lilly Whites lost the first leg 3-1 at White Hart Lane before coming close to forcing extra time over in Portugal.
Spurs will be disappointed with their showing in the group stages of this season’s competition.

Transfers can spring plenty of surprises. Someone can sign for a side for big money, be hyped as a future club legend and then fail to deliver in spectacular fashion, while on the flip side those that you don’t expect much from end up becoming all-time heroes. Sami Hyypia was signed for just £2.5m for example, whereas the hapless Alberto Aquilani cost almost £20m.
When it comes to transfers though, the one thing that not many Reds fanatics harp on about are the near misses. Those players who were continually linked with a move to Anfield throughout multiple transfer windows, only to move elsewhere and fail miserably.
They are players that you now look at and envisage just how ineffective they would have been in a Liverpool shirt had they made the move, and how the Bill Shanklys and Bob Paisleys of...
