Maureen Connolly was born on September 17, 1934 in San Diego, California, USA. She was married to Norman Brinker. She died on June 21, 1969 in Dallas, Texas, USA.
First women's tennis player to win all four majors in a calendar year (1953); she, Don Budge, Rod Laver, Margaret Court, and Steffi Graf are the only players to date to do so. Named Female Athlete of the Year three times by The Associated Press. A crushed right leg suffered in an horseback-riding accident in July 1954 ended her career.
