UK Covid Supervisor Program
The Production Guild of Great Britain (Pggb) and the British Film Commission (Bfc) are partnering to roll out a new accredited program of Covid supervisor training for film and TV production professionals. Backed by £100,000 investment from Bfc, the new scheme is being developed in consultation with the Producers Guild of America’s Production Safety Task Force. Targeted at production managers, line producers and location managers, it will build on the Bfc’s guidance documents published in July, to help introduce a UK standard of best practice. Helen Curston has been appointed Pggb Director Of Training to oversee the program.

"I don't want the whole town getting into a panic over nothin'." Breaking Glass Pictures has debuted an official trailer for the indie sci-fi film Watch the Sky, which will be going straight to VOD coming up next week. Even though this isn't that impressive, we still like featuring cool indie films from up-and-coming filmmakers anyway. Watch the Sky is about two brothers who send a balloon into the sky in hopes of getting some of their own video footage of space. They end up getting more than they bargained for when they discover UFOs. The film features Renée O’Connor, Jed Sura, Luke Albright, Amie Farrell, Miracle Laurie, Carol Mansell, and introducing Karson Kern and Miles Muir. This looks super low budget, but I appreciate that they actually show the aliens in daylight (and not only at night). Might be a cool watch. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster...

Here's a fun Halloween horror short for you to watch called Yummy Meat: A Halloween Carol. The movie was directed by John Fitzpatrick from a script written by Sean J. Decker, and it has some enjoyable elements that I think you’ll like. Here’s a brief synopsis:
On Halloween night, snarky dentist Amber (Miracle Laurie) hands out toothbrushes to the neighborhood kids, only to discover that one of them may soon be brushing bits of her from his teeth.
If you're looking for something to watch to help get you into the Halloween spirit, maybe this will be it.

Whedonverse fans are sure to flock to writer/director/producer Anton King’s new rom-com Lust for Love, which reunites quite a few Dollhouse alumni, including actors Fran Kranz and Dichen Lachman. Kranz leads the cast as Astor, a lovable yet hopeless guy who ruins his chance at a happily ever after with his childhood crush, Mila (Tron Legacy’s Beau Garrett). Convinced that the reason he’s so unlucky in love is because of his lack of experience with women, Astor enlists the help of Mila’s ex-best friend, Cali (Lachman), to teach him a thing or two about wooing the opposite sex.

What happens when this reporter (a self-professed geek) and Patton Oswalt (also a self-professed geek) talk crushes at the Nyff premiere of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty? A really geeky run-through of Oswalt's crushes from the Whedonverse — naturally. Fellow geeks, enjoy. We're asking people about their crushes, and I thought since you play the eHarmony guy in this movie, someone who's a bit of a matchmaker, you might be a good fit ...Oh, sure! I know you're happily married, but you're still allowed ...My wife has crushes; I have crushes. Christina Ricci. That's a longtime crush. You know what's really weird? This does sound kind of strange, but you know who serves up the perfect geek crush is anyone from the Joss Whedonverse. Like my big crush now, and has been for a while, is Miracle Laurie from Dollhouse. I never got to work with her, but good God!

Eager to show off his latest project, Josh Duhamel was on hand for the Hollywood premiere of his film, "Scenic Route" on Tuesday (August 20).
Looking dapper, the lead star of the film wore a brown suit as he posed on the red carpet with his wife, and expecting mommy-to-be, Fergie.
The upcoming drama/thriller follows the relationship between two old friends which is tested as they are stranded in the desert.
"Scenic Route," which also stars Dan Fogler and Miracle Laurie, is set to hit theaters on August 23rd.

Anyone who's been on a long car trip can attest to the fact that even if the journey starts out with two best friends, there are bound to be a few legs of the trip where you are ready to push the other party out of the moving car. Scenic Route, which played SXSW this week, is a film that explores this idea to the extremes.
Scenic Route follows two lifelong best friends, Mitch (Josh Duhamel) and Carter (Dan Fogler), on a drive through Death Valley. The two have drifted apart in the last few years since Mitch got married to a woman who Carter believes isn't right for him; as a result, Carter is no longer such a big part of Mitch's life. Writer Kyle Killen has been garnering attention over the last few years both in film and television. His two television series, Lone Star and Awake, despite being short lived, garnered critical praise, praise which carried over into his feature film writing debut, 2011′s The Beaver. This has left many interested in seeing what Killen chooses to pursue next, which turned out to be another feature film. Titled Scenic Route, the film is directed by the duo of Kevin Goetz and Michael Goetz, making their feature film directorial debut, and stars Josh Duhamel, Dan Fogler, Miracle Laurie, and Christie Burson. The first trailer for the film, set to premiere at the 2013 SXSW Festival, has now been released, and can be seen below.

Val Kilmer has been part of the Wyatt Earp story once before, playing Doc Holliday in Tombstone. ("I'm your huckleberry" [1] should be a line etched into the brain of any western fan.) Now he's going back to the classic tale, and this time he's playing Wyatt Earp, in the indie western The First Ride of Wyatt Earp. The film was written by Darren Benjamin Shepherd, and will be directed by Mike Feifer. The story, says Variety [2], " finds an elderly Earp sitting down with a reporter to reflect on the ride that made him a legend, when the young marshal rounded up a posse to track down the outlaw who mistakenly murdered the woman he loved." So will Val Kilmer play both the older Earp and the younger? Right now we don't know. Wilson Bethel plays Doc Holliday, Daniel Booko plays Spike Kennedy, and Trace Adkins, Miracle Laurie, Steven Grayhm and...

Indie soap The Bay has an unusual plethora of phenomenal legendary soap actors in its cast. But it took an outsider to walk onto the show and shake everything up! I had the chance to recently chat with the extremely talented Camden Toy about his powerful and terrifying role as bomb-happy Igor on The Bay.
We Love Soaps TV: Camden Toy, what a privilege to meet you!
Camden Toy: Yes, Camden Toy, that is my real name. People are always asking me my real name. I say, “You think I made that up?”
We Love Soaps TV: What kind of a name is "Toy"?
Camden Toy: It’s an ancient Scottish Gaelic name.
We Love Soaps TV: We have been loving The Bay so far. Might I say, you are a really scary dude.
Camden Toy: It’s so funny because when I watch it I don’t see it that way.

So, Dollhouse and Ugly Betty aren’t coming back. Both shows have been canceled and soon their respective casts will be just a bunch of unemployed actors. But before they start making those “Will Emote for Food” signs, how about we help them land their next gigs.
While I’m certain the talented casts of both shows will find gainful employment in no time, it can’t hurt to make a few suggestions. Short of each landing their own new series, many of these fine thespians would make a welcome addition to existing shows. Let’s recast a few.
America Ferrera on 30 Rock
America’s delightful comedy skills, not to mention her experience working in a crazy office, would make her a perfect match to join Liz Lemon. Maybe she could be a new NBC junior executive. Or a writer for The Girlie Show. Or just a new friend for Liz.

When a Joss Whedon show ends, it's typically not really gone. The TV show may be over but he creates such rich characters and stories that many fans will gladly follow them to another medium. Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel characters have lived on in comics and novels. Firefly continued in printed form as well as in the feature film Serenity. But what about the latest casualty, Dollhouse? Will those characters return in some new way as well?
Dollhouse revolves around a group of people whose minds are wiped of their own identities and implanted with temporary memories for jobs-for-hire. The cast includes Eliza Dushku, Harry Lennix, Fran Kranz, Tahmoh Penikett, Enver Gjokaj, Dichen Lachman, Olivia Williams, Amy Acker, Reed Diamond, and Miracle Laurie.

Episode Title: "The Hollow Men"
Written By: Michele Fazekas, Tara Butters & Tracy Bellomo
Synopsis: The master plan to imprint humanity reveals itself as each member of the resistance learns the truth about Boyd Langton (Harry Lennix). His desire to recruit each member of the Dollhouse team (because he loves them) doesn't go over so well, leading to a violent struggle spearheaded by Echo (Eliza Dushku). Ultimately, lives are lost on both sides of the war, resulting in an explosive climax.
The Head of the Lollipop Guild: I have to admit that a bit of my enthusiasm over the Boyd reveal got curbed as this episode played along. His poker face around the others was brilliant, filled with one-liners that the characters missed but the audience fully understood. But when his true intentions were revealed, he suddenly became a very sloppy villain. For somebody that so expertly masked himself for all of these episodes,...

It's almost over, folks. Joss Whedon's gone-too-soon series Dollhouse will air its series finale on January 22. The series, cancelled due to low viewership, will leave behind a small but dedicated fanbase, who will certainly love this titular follow-up to the first season's finale, "Epitaph One." It's a dystopian episode, apparently, that will take place in the dark future of 2019, where the technology of the Dollhouse has been turned into a global weapon — and will focus on the efforts and the group of freedom fighters "The Actuals" to take down the threat.

Dollhouse returned with a shocking revelation, metaphorically and literally. The stage is set for the inevitable "Epitaph One" to go down and members of the L.A. Dollhouse have to question who can they trust when the people they work for have turned on them.
The Set Up
Senator Daniel Perrin (guest star Alexis Denisof) prepares for a press conference that would destroy the Rossum Corporation and the Dollhouses. His wife Cindy (guest star Stacey Crowley) wishes him luck. From the mind of Joss Whedon, Dollhouse revolves around a group of people whose minds are wiped of their own identities and implanted with temporary memories for jobs-for-hire. The cast includes Eliza Dushku, Harry Lennix, Fran Kranz, Tahmoh Penikett, Enver Gjokaj, Dichen Lachman, Olivia Williams, Amy Acker, Reed Diamond, and Miracle Laurie.
Though loved by many fans, the series has been ratings-challenged from the start. Surprisingly, Dollhouse received a second season order last May, despite low ratings. The second season's ratings have been even worse but Fox publicly committed to at least produce and air all of the 13 ordered episodes.
While it looked highly unlikely that Dollhouse would be given a full season or be renewed for a third year, many...

Super hero costumes are often criticized by fans and non-fans alike. In particular, the female costumes can sometimes seem a bit too revealing or impractical. Even Wonder Woman is occasionally given guff and there are those who say that if they ever made a new movie with her, her swimsuit-like battle armor would have to go.
So we of Crazy Sexy Geeks: The Series decided to ask people: Should Wonder Woman wear pants? Are the shorts or skirt too impractical?
Join us as we discuss and debate this issue with every day comic fans, professional artist Gene Ha (Top Ten, Global Frequency), fashion consultant Tim Gunn, actress Miracle Laurie (Dollhouse), actress/writer Emma Caulfield (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Contropussy.com), digital painter Alayna Lemmer, and the American Gladiators known as Phoenix and Venom. That's tons of pretty girls talking about the ultimate female super hero! What Are You Waiting For?...

As Fox announces their decision to bench Dollhouse for the fall sweep, we sit down with series regular, Miracle Laurie, on her future with the show and in the world of acting. Plus MarvelFest hits NYC (wonder if DC will plan something on the same day?), Glee hits on DVD and there are two hot trailers to catch in theaters this weekend.

Despite encouraging DVR evidence that a sizable Dollhouse fan base exists, Fox is axing Joss Whedon's ratings-challenged series during November sweeps in favor of House repeats. Fox will honor its promise to air the complete second season of the sci-fi series by scheduling back-to-back Dollhouse episodes on Friday nights in December. Cast members are staying optimistic in the face of inevitable series death, as evidenced by Miracle Laurie's tweet late last night: "Trying not to be depressed. Get Anyone you can convince to watch #Dollhouse Live this Fri, cuz we won't be back till Dec. see ya then! :(" [Entertainment Weekly]...

Dollhouse will go on hiatus in November, it has been confirmed. The remaining episodes of season two of the Joss Whedon sci-fi series, which Fox previously promised to broadcast in full, will be aired back-to-back in December. Miracle Laurie, who plays November on the show, wrote on her Twitter: "Trying not to be depressed. This past weekend at Big Apple Comic Con, we got a chance to talk to Dollhouse’s Miracle Laurie about her role in the show, and where things may be headed. Last season, her character November went through quite a transformation, and was left this season “released” by the Dollhouse.
Miracle went from a little-known actress to a resident in the Whedonverse practically overnight. She also mentions in the interview how she was originally up for a role on Firefly a few years back.
We were able to talk about most things Doll‘, including where her character will be going this season now that she’s “free”, her thoughts on working with mastermind Joss Whedon, and even some about her Ukulele cover band, “Uke Box Hero”.
Check out the full interview after the jump. Be sure to keep it here for some more great Big Apple Con interviews with other...

This past weekend marked the very first year for Wizard World’s Big Apple Comic Con. Though some may be confused, this show has nothing to do with New York Comic Con, nor the legendary San Diego Comic-Con. This is a new brand established by Wizard, which has been making waves across the country in places like Boston, Anaheim, and Chicago.
This past weekend was quite interesting in terms of turn-out for a first year show. Friday was Ok, but Saturday and Sunday had a fair share of fanboys and fangirls roaming the con floor. You can always tell how good a con is by the amount of costumed heroes and heroines, and you can see for yourself after the jump, that they all came out of the woodwork for the show.

It's about damn time! Ever since Dollhouse started last spring, we've been waiting for Echo/Caroline (Eliza Dushku) and Paul Ballard (Tahmoh Penikett) to hook up, but in season one, it was not meant to be. Paul was mating with Mellie/November (Miracle Laurie), and except for some passionate fight scenes, the fed and L.A.'s No. 1 Doll hardly ever shared scenes. Well, that's all about to change. We just ran into our favorite set of 12-pack abs—Tahmoh!—and here's what he blabbed... "I think it's safe to say you're going to see one soon," he said of an upcoming makeout session between his character and the artist formerly known as Caroline (Dushku). Say...

Dichen Lachman has praised her Dollhouse co-stars, claiming that they are "wonderful" to work with. In an exclusive interview with Digital Spy, the 27-year old former Neighbours actress singled out Miracle Laurie and Reed Diamond as actors she is fond of. Coming off of the season premiere, .Dollhouse. takes a slight break from the show.s complex mythology to focus on a solitary mission. Echo (Eliza Dushku) has been imprinted to believe she is a new mother to a baby boy, even to the point where she is breastfeeding the little tyke. However, when her faux-husband . who hired Echo to care for his son . decides to abort the mission, Echo believes he plans to have her killed. Her newly acquired mothering instincts kick in and she takes off with the child she believes is her own, with Ballard (Tahmoh Penikett) in hot pursuit. Meanwhile, a former Active (Miracle Laurie) reappears for a .diagnostic,. raising questions about her lingering connection to the Dollhouse, and Senator Perrin (Alexis Denisof) gets closer to unraveling the truth about ...

Oh no, is Fox ready to pack up the Dollhouse and banish it to the attic forever? The show is just two episodes into its second season, but already talk has begun of possible early cancellation due to disappointingly low ratings.
The series from creator Joss Whedon and star Eliza Dushku debuted to only 2.6 million viewers. Last week it had its weakest showing to date, dropping by 20 percent and attracting only 2.1 million viewer. It even got beaten by SyFy series Stargate Universe by about a quarter of a million households. When a cable show beats a network show, that’s bad — very, very bad.
On Monday, Dollhouse news site Dollverse.com sent up a distress flare saying the series was in real danger of being yanked soon, meaning fans could be left hanging without a resolution to the complex multiple lives of Echo and company.
The warning sound like more than just fan hand-wringing.

Suppose you were the head of a real-life Dollhouse that wiped volunteers' personalities, downloaded new ones into their brains, and rented them out to the super rich and privileged. Would you let your Dolls walk away, no strings attached, after they've honored their contract?
Yeah, me neither.
The last episode of Joss Whedon's Dollhouse, "Instinct," featured the newly liberated November/Madeline (Miracle Laurie) returning to the Dollhouse to undergo a "diagnostic." According to Adelle, the procedure is necessary to make sure Topher's tech didn't permanently blow a fuse inside Madeline's pretty head. Madeline was understandably cautious when Adelle came to visit her and prod her into getting the check-up. "I have this irrational fear that if I say the wrong thing, men in suits are going to throw me in a black van and take me away," she said.
Can you blame her?

Episode Title: "Instinct"
Written by: Michele Fazekas & Tara Butters
The Story: Echo (Eliza Dushku) has been many people and many things -- a blind churchgoer, an athletic damsel in distress, a dead woman solving her own murder -- but this time, she enters the world of motherhood once Topher (Fran Kranz) imprints her with a physiological bond to another man's baby. Her role is to replace the baby's dead mother, but Echo's attachment to the child takes more than a few turns for the worse -- and not even her handler Paul Ballard (Tahmoh Penikett) can break that bond.
Mommy Did A Bad Job: Man, this might have been one of the most needless episodes of "Dollhouse" to date. It did very, very little to propel the forward momentum of the series seen in last year's finales and hinted at in this year's premiere. Sure, we get the reminder at...

As a result, viewers were left in the dark about the future of November, as was portrayer, Miracle Laurie.
But both are back, and the actress dished on her return to Dollhouse - taking place tonight, as the character Madeline within this tri-character individual (it makes sense to viewers, trust us) - with TV Guide Magazine.
On how Madeline returns: We get to meet her really for the first time, and see who she is after the experience of being in the Dollhouse... the theme is, whether we meant to play this out or not, that everyone has the same soul. It’s their minds that are being wiped and replaced, and different personalities that are put in, but I think, there is an essence for everybody that is the same throughout. I...

The last time we saw Mellie, or as they like to call her in the Dollhouse, "November," she was being released from her contract to be a doll thanks to the work of Paul Ballard, played by "Battlestar Galactica" alum Tahmoh Penikett. But Friday, our favorite neighbor returns to "Dollhouse" on Fox, and she's not the same woman we saw last season. "Her name is Madeline, that's who I was before I was a doll," actress Miracle Laurie told Airlock Alpha. "We saw a little bit of her last year, and now we get to see more of her." And in a big way, too. Madeline will no longer be the sweet girl that made Ballard dinner and was there when he needed to vent his frustration over trying to find a place most people said was a work of fiction. Instead, viewers are going to get a glimpse of...

Making its second season debut last week, Dollhouse airs its follow-up episode, “Instinct,” tonight (Friday), 9 p.m. on Fox. In the new show, Echo (Eliza Dushku) is imprinted as a mother with a newborn baby, but she takes too strongly to motherhood as a result of Topher’s (Fran Kranz) modifications. Meanwhile, Adelle (Olivia Williams) pays November (Miracle Laurie) a visit, and Perrin (Alexis Denisof) ramps up his investigation into the Rossum Corporation. In Part II of our conversation, Dushku dishes on “Instinct” and playing a Mom, but first she talks about essaying a character “imprinted” with multiple personalities on a regular basis.
“Echo is a full-on schizophrenic,” Dushku jokes. “Actually, it’s easier this year, because we don’t have as much of that ‘dumbed-down Doll Echo,’ because she has all these personalities and is now this core Echo who’s a sum of all these parts, including Caroline.

Unless your memory has been wiped, you know that Starlog has been posting a three-part interview with Dollhouse creator Joss Whedon. The second season debuted just this Friday, and as Whedon winds up this chat, he starts things off by talking about the series’ star Eliza Dushku and how she has helped shape who Echo is as well as who she will become.
“Well, Eliza really wants to dance burlesque. We keep forgetting to put that in,” Whedon jokes. “Eliza has specific things that she’s interested in, specific things she feels comfortable with. Sometimes I like to go to that place because I know that she can knock it out of the park, and sometimes I like to go in the opposite direction to take her out of her comfort zone because that’s the best thing you can do with an actor.”

Finally, we get to play with dolls again. Yes, Dollhouse is back tonight for the start of its somewhat unexpected second season.
After struggling to find its footing early, the science-fiction meets soul-searching meets ass-kicking series found its footing in its second half. Now Eliza Dushku and company are back and have promised to deliver more of all of the above.
The Joss Whedon series about consensual(ish) brainwashing and reprogrammable people will continue to explore Echo (Eliza’s) burgeoning self awareness. Joss, Eliza and the cast gave fans a sneak peek of the premiere which they call “a tasting menu” for the series:

Well friends, its that time you’ve been waiting for because its now official: Summer Glau and Joss Whedon are back together again. According to a statement released by Fox today, Glau will again team with her Firefly/Serenity creator Joss Whedon as a recurring cast member on Dollhouse. Sure, I have yet to watch "Epitaph One", like I said yesterday. I'll be picking up the Dollhouse box set this week. Before that, I'll tide myself over with these spoilers from the folks at E! Online--well, technically, from Joss Whedon himself, as said to the folks at E! Online--so connecting the unaired 13th episode with the events of the second season will be easier.
Oh, and the title might be misleading: sorry, I have nothing on Mellie/November/Caroline/whatever she's called, although I think I read somewhere that Miracle Laurie's returning somehow. Not sure, though. Anyway, spoilers are up ahead, so you know what to do.

Welcome to your Thursday morning television briefing. Dollhouse creator Joss Whedon will write and direct the second season opener of the Fox drama. Meanwhile, Miracle Laurie--who played November/Mellie in Season One of Dollhouse Will be returning for the sophomore season... in some form, anyway. "All I know for sure is that I'm coming back next season," Laurie told the Baltimore Sun. "I don't actually know in what form I'll be back. The writers are kind of teasing me…everybody knows but me." (Baltimore Sun, Twitter) io9 speaks to Syfy vice president of original programming Mark Stern about the channel's rebrand and its promise to find the next big space opera along the lines of Battlestar Galatica or Firefly. "The next thing that I really want to do is find the next great space opera; it's been a long time," said Stern. "And we have Stargate, but that's really not that show.
