Julia Fox is dabbling in the Canadian film industry.
The “Uncut Gems” star, 33, has taken on the role of executive producer for Luis De Filippis’ debut feature film, “Something You Said Last Night”, according to Variety.
The Canadian-Swiss project gained attention after its premiere at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), where it won the Shawn Mendes Change Maker Award and later garnered accolades at San Sebastian, Cairo, and Rotterdam film festivals.
The film stars up-and-coming actress Carmen Madonia, alongside Ramona Milano, Paige Evans, and Joey Parro. The story revolves around a trans woman named Ren (Madonia), an aspiring writer in her 20s, and her younger sister Siena (Evans), as they reluctantly join their parents on a family vacation.

The realities of being a stunted millennial and a trans woman coalesce as she struggles to balance the yearning for independence with the comfort of being taken care of.
The Canadian-Swiss project is produced by Jessica Adams, Michael Graf, Harry Cherniak, Rhea Plangg, Michela Pini and Luis De Filippis through Ja Productions and Cinédokké. Executive producers are Francesca Silvestri and Kevin Chinoy, producers of Sean Baker’s The Florida Project. Edinburgh International Film Festival (Eiff) has revealed the four winners of The Story Circle programme – an initiative aimed at female screenwriters and filmmakers from East Africa, who have an idea for a short film.
Janet Nsabuwera (Uganda), Sarah Kyomugisha (Uganda), Lydia Matata (Kenya) and Hope Wanjiku (Kenya) are the four winners. They will be given support to develop and produce their short films over the next year, to be screened at Eiff in 2023.

Exclusive: Quiver Distribution has picked up the North American rights to Tammy’s Always Dying, the dark comedy directed by Amy Jo Johnson (best remembered as the original pink ranger on the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers as well as Julie Emrick on WB’s Felicity). Felicity Huffman stars as the titular character in the film, which will mark the first time the Desperate Housewives alumna will be seen onscreen since her release from an 11-day federal prison stint her role in the college bribery scheme last October.

Nine days of events will be held at the Eiff Delegate Centre at the Traverse Theatre from June 18.
Topics to be discussed will range from development and financing through to exhibition and sustainability.
There will be a number of events aimed at offering support and advice to emerging writers, directors and producers including two sessions hosted by partners of the BFI Net.Work looking at progressing from shorts to features.
Representatives from Creative England, Film London and the Scottish Film Talent Network will take part in the events including an opportunity for filmmakers to practice their feature pitch to get feedback on making their future applications stronger.
