- Made his debut alongside fellow West Indies legends Gordon Greenidge and Sir Vivian Richards against India in 1974.
- Widely regarded as one of the finest fast bowlers in cricket history and perhaps the first of the great West Indies pacers who helped the team dominate world cricket for most of the 1970s and throughout the 1980s.
- Represented Hampshire in English County Cricket. One of his deliveries broke a couple of teeth of Ian Botham on the English all-rounder's debut for Somerset CCC in 1974.

- Took his 100th test wicket in just his 20th test. It included the series in which he took 32 wickets in 5 tests on unhelpful pitches of India during the 1974-75 tour, against a formidable batting lineup comprising of MAK Pataudi, Sunil Gavaskar and Gundappa Viswanath, establishing his credentials as one of the most skilled bowlers in the world.
- While being genuinely tall standing at 6 feet 2 inches, Roberts happens to be the second shortest of the great West Indian fast bowlers which helped his team dominate world cricket for close to 20 years, the shortest being Malcolm Marshall who measured 5 feet 11 inches.
- Whilst representing West Indies during the breakaway World Series Cricket, one of Roberts' deliveries was said to be timed at 159 kilometres per hour(99.1 miles per hour).
