Since 2022, a Scott Pilgrim series has been in development at Netflix. On March 30, Netflix announced the news everyone was waiting for, a Scott Pilgrim anime was ordered for the streaming service. But the news got even better when it was announced that the original cast of the 2010 movie would voice the characters. Not only will the cast return, but Scott Pilgrim anime will also have Anamanaguchi develop original songs.

All three Vivian Girls miss the rain.
“It replenishes,” says Cassie Ramone, singer, songwriter, and guitarist. “It nourishes life!”
The band, who grew up and made their name on the East Coast, live in Los Angeles now. It’s far from the New Jersey basement shows, the 24-hour diners they frequented together as teens, and the tattoos they got to commemorate it all. Now, in West Hollywood’s Murakami Sushi, they’re in a mood to reminisce. Ramone, now 33, singer-bassist Katy Goodman, 34, and drummer Ali Koehler, 32, have been secretly rehearsing for months.

Val Kilmer‘s recent Twitter storm involving Cate Blanchett is just the latest episode in what has been a mysterious past several years for the actor.
The Top Gun and Batman Forever star spent the weekend flooding his Twitter account with effusive posts lauding Blanchett, with whom he appeared in the 2003 Western The Missing and whom he again costars with in the new film Song to Song.
His posts included an admission that he once flew to Australia “just to talk” to the actress, only to be supposedly met at the airport by her husband, Australian playwright Andrew Upton. He...

Patti Smith offers Rooney Mara advice on life, music and love in a new clip from Terrence Malick's upcoming movie Song to Song. The film takes place against the backdrop of the Austin music scene and stars Mara, Michael Fasssbender, Ryan Gosling, Natalie Portman alongside numerous musicians.

One couldn’t imagine a more fitting debut for Terrence Malick‘s Song to Song than SXSW, having been shot in Austin and depicting the music industry through a love triangle (or quartet, considering Natalie Portman‘s character). As anyone could glean from one glance at the trailer, the film is filled with music and now, following confirmation on all the involved artists we’ll see on screen, we have its eclectic soundtrack.
It consists of bands that have expanded roles in the film — including Lykke Li, Patti Smith, Black Lips, Iggy Pop, and Dana Falconberry — cuts from Die Antwoord, Sharon Van Etten, Bob Dylan, and Bob Marley, as well as many classical songs, per Malick’s tradition. We’ve rounded up all the tracks available on Spotify and made a playlist, which amounts to 54 songs and clocks in at nearly five hours.

Meanwhile, those in search of smaller-scale entertainment can enjoy Terence Malick's latest dreamy drama, a cannibalism flick with a reputation that precedes it and a festival favorite featuring a career-best performance from Kristen Stewart. Here's what you need to see over the next month.

Patti Smith, Iggy Pop and the Red Hot Chili Peppers are among a handful of musicians set to appear in Terrence Malick's new movie set in the Austin music scene, IndieWire reports.
Song to Song will follow two couples who become entangled: A pair of struggling songwriters played by Rooney Mara and Ryan Gosling and a music mogul and a waitress played by Michael Fassbender and Natalie Portman. Billed as a "modern love story," the two couples will "chase success through a rock and roll landscape of seduction and betrayal.

After making just five movies between 1973 and 2011, Terrence Malick has released three more in the last few years. Despite being comparatively prolific in this most recent phase of his career, the media-shy filmmaker still manages to make each new work feel like an event unto itself.
IndieWire can exclusively confirm the new title and release date of his latest film: “Song to Song,” which Broad Green Pictures will release on March 17, 2017. (The film has previously been referred to as “Weightless.”) Check out a first-look photo above.

It was all the way back in 2011 when Terrence Malick first got cameras rolling on his Austin music scene movie aka "Weightless." All we know so far about the movie is that it's a tale of sexual obsession and betrayal that involves two love triangles, Ryan Gosling, Rooney Mara, Cate Blanchett, Christian Bale, Natalie Portman, Michael Fassbender, Holly Hunter, Val Kilmer, Haley Bennett, and many, many more are part of the cast (though who makes the final cut, remains to be seen), and Malick filmed concert scenes at Austin City Limits in 2011 and 2012 featuring Arcade Fire, Iron & Wine, Fleet Foxes, and Black Lips. And while there's still no whisper of when this movie might be completed, it seems there's another name that was part of the production. Atlanta, Ga psychedelic garage-rock unit Black Lips decided to push the envelope with a gritty, sleazy and ultra-violent music video for the moody single “Boys in the Wood” from their upcoming album Underneath the Rainbow. From rampant drug use to blood-filled fight scenes in a backwoods netherworld, director Matt Swinsky and the Atl Twins (Spring Breakers) run through a wide range of atrocities reminiscent of Joe R. Landsdale's grim short story “The Night They Missed the Horror Show,” accompanied by the band's potent brew of southern-fried, down-tempo garage punk. [Be warned, there are some pretty twisted acts depicted in this clip, so it's probably not safe for work viewing.] The band has also uploaded this behind-the-scenes featurette on the making of the video... Underneath the Rainbow drops March 18th from Vice Records, and you can preorder a copy at iTunes now. The single "Boys in the Wood" is also available for download at the same location. Black Lips will soon be headlining a Us tour, which includes a performance at...

After a nearly three-year drought Atlanta psych-rockers The Black Lips are back with a supremely insane Nsfw anthem. 'Boys in the Wood' (like many a horror flick) is somewhat of a cautionary tale of what happens when dudes get drunk, in this case, in the woods. Although this may represent an extreme perspective of boys’ inebriated shenanigans, don’t forget that it’s all in good fun. The Black Lips are known for their sense of humor for one, and also for putting on consistently awesome live performances. They’re one of the best bands around at getting hammered on stage and still managing to sound great. And when they’re not on stage or in the woods, they even have time for a little love and protest. If you’re squeamish, be wary of the last half of the video, but trust me when I say that the pay...

While you may think of Rooney Mara as the damaged, vengeful Lisbeth Salander from The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, we see a very different, tender side of the actress in her new movie Ain’t Them Bodies Saints, which opens in select theaters this weekend. In particular, she has a very sweet scene in which she sings to her onscreen 4-year-old daughter. After seeing her take the stage with the Black Lips at last year’s Austin City Limits (for an upcoming Terrence Malick movie), we wondered if she has a music career waiting on the back burner.
“No, I don’t,” she said, genuinely surprised when we complimented her singing. “Maybe when I’m, like, in the shower or in the car, but no, it’s not a realistic thing for me.”
Darn. Well, she seems to be doing Ok with this acting thing. In Saints, she plays Ruth,...
