Kiss recently played their final concert ever, but singer-bassist Gene Simmons is not ready to quit performing quite yet.
Simmons has booked a date with his solo project, Gene Simmons Band, at the Brazil edition of the Summer Breeze festival on April 26th in São Paulo. It’s the first post-kiss activity from any of the remaining band members, and the announcement comes just over a month after Kiss retired from performing in human, non-avatar form after two concerts at Madison Square Garden.
Simmons’ solo band last played in 2018 and typically runs through a setlist comprised of Simmons-penned Kiss material and deep cuts. The band’s current lineup is rounded out by guitarists Brent Woods and Zach Throne (Corey Taylor) and drummer Brian Tichy.
For Simmons, the solo shows have offered a more intimate setting — and one where he can dig deep into Kiss’ songbook.

The “Rock for Ronnie” concert benefitting the late Ronnie James Dio’s Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund has been set for May 7th (noon to 5 p.m.) at the Los Encinos Historic Park in Encino, California.
The show marks the foundation’s first post-covid event and will see live music performances, silent and live auctions, and other family activities. Radio and television personality Eddie Trunk will serve as host.
The announced live performances will begin with Jason Charles Miller’s southern rock band, followed by sets from Dio Disciples; the return of Steamroller performing Whitesnake songs; and the Atomic Punks, an early-Van Halen tribute act.
A silent auction will take place throughout the afternoon, with other “one-of-a-kind rock collectibles” being auctioned live from the stage between performances. Attendees will be able to purchase beverages and food from various food trucks, and assorted vendor booths will be selling crafts and other items.

Former Black Sabbath drummer Bill Ward was so moved by the resilience of victims of the 2017 Las Vegas shooting at the Route 91 festival that he wrote a folk song, “Arrows” in their honor. He recorded it with his Bill Ward Band. The song’s release coincides with the second anniversary of the shooting.
“Bless the youth, for realizing they could hear the truth,” he sings over strummed acoustic guitar. “Bless the man, who sought to love but fell with his demons/Bless us all, for surely, surely, surely we have cried.

Whitesnake drummer Brian Tichy’s mind works at the speed of his drum sticks; his answers fly out almost in a constant unbroken stream. I got the distinct impression that everything he does is with 100 percent commitment or none. This was backed up by Tichy fending off a barrage of text messages from Whitesnake’s tour manager because he was running late for a band dinner so that he could finish our interview.
This man lives and breathes and talks rock and it’s impossible not to get taken in by his infectious energy and enthusiasm for being the drummer in one of his all-time favorite bands.
Geeks of Doom: The first thing I want to ask: officially is it Brian with one ‘i’ or two?
Brian Tichy: [laughs] It’s one. But I accidentally wrote two in an email and I looked at it… I just thought it was...

Drummers including former Guns N' Roses star Steven Adler and Red Hot Chili Peppers' Chad Smith have signed up to take part in a tribute to late Led Zeppelin percussionist John Bonham to mark the 30th anniversary of his death.
Bonham, nicknamed Bonzo, died in 1980 at the age of 32, effectively ending Led Zeppelin's music career - the group disbanded three months after he passed away. He will be remembered at a tribute concert in Los Angeles on September 25 - exactly 30 years after the tragedy - and stars including Adler and Smith, as well as Bonham's son Jason Bonham, will take to the stage to play drums on some of Led Zeppelin's most famous tracks.
The show, titled "Bonzo: The Groove Remains the Same", will take place at the Key Club in Hollywood and will also include performances from former Black Sabbath star Vinny Appice and Scorpions' James Kottak,...
