Former Emmerdale star Marc Silcock has revealed that he would not rule out another soap role. The actor bowed out from his part as tetraplegic Jackson Walsh on the ITV1 show in mid-2011. He also previously played Eli on Channel 4's Hollyoaks. Silcock told The Sun: "Emmerdale really was the best job of my life. You do so much in such a short period of time that your improvement is really dramatic. "I held on to the role for as long as possible, but my exit storyline - Jackson's controversial assisted suicide - was so good it was worth leaving for. "I honestly couldn't rule out going back to soap in the future. But it would have to work for me. I wouldn't do it for the sake of it." Silcock returns to screens next (more)...

Blood Relatives
There are things I liked about this clip. I liked that Esther was put out because Woulter wanted to have the party for him and Thomas at their house instead of hers. She’s a controlling woman so it’s no surprise she would hate changes put upon her by Thomas’ latest squeeze. Her being snippy about the event was the highlight of the clip, as was the shouting match between her and Eva. But I think Thomas and Woulter’s sudden coupledom is quite rushed.
Why are they rushing this?
It just seems strange to throw a party for a relationship that’s only a few weeks old. I don’t even know why these two are together as the show hasn’t bothered to give us any relationship dynamics. I think the bigger problem though is that the show is all about...

I’m glad Amira has finally gotten the message, given up on Syed and left town. Given that Syed cheated on her for over a year with Christian, ended their marriage to be with Christian and wanted nothing more than to be with Christian after Christian dumped him late last year, it’s pretty clear that he’s just not that into her. I just hope she doesn’t give him a hard time about finally getting a divorce and lets him see his daughter regularly without a hassle. Her character has worn out her welcome, and it’s time to move on. I will miss scenes of Christian and Amira being bitchy to each other though. That was always fun to watch.
As for Zainab finally confessing that she purposefully sent Yusef to his death, which led to Tamwar being seriously burned, it was a moment long in coming.

Get off the cross, honey, someone else needs the wood. Please, I just shake my head at all the overwrought angst Olli is putting himself through over Philippe’s accident, which everyone seems to agree was not Olli’s fault. Even looking at it logically, he is clearly not to blame and his beating himself up makes little sense. It is all just faux drama. And not very good drama at that. I don’t know why the show is tossing in this extraneous nonsense when Christian and Olli already have plenty of very real problems to deal with. Working on repairing their marriage should be plenty of fodder for drama and conflict.
It's pretty clear that Olli is headed down a dark path, but I think the destruction of his marriage would be enough reason for him to unravel. They didn’t need to add this. And please,...

I recently had a chat with Emmerdale star Marc Silcock to hear about his National Television Awards nod for 'Best Newcomer' and why he deserves your vote. Click here to read the main chunk of the interview, or read on for some bonus snippets from Marc, focusing on what's to come for his character Jackson in the months ahead... There's always a lot of speculation surrounding how long you're staying at Emmerdale. Are you sticking around for the foreseeable future?
"All I know at the minute is that I'm here until the spring. So at the moment, that's the way it stands. Whether the producers see fit to change that is completely up to them and I'm open to suggestions, but at the minute my contract finishes in spring this year." Where are things heading for Aaron and Jackson this year?

Danny Miller has revealed that Emmerdale's Aaron Livesy will find himself attracted to a newcomer named Flynn. Aaron is currently trying to help his boyfriend Jackson Walsh (Marc Silcock) cope with being left paralysed following an accident last year. However, Inside Soap reports that Jackson will encourage Aaron to spend time away from him so that he can continue to have fun - leading to him meeting Flynn, played by Ryan Prescott. "He's basically set free by Jackson, who says to him 'I want you to have a good laugh (more)...

The former Birds Of A Feather Star - who now plays Silcock's on-screen mother Hazel - told Inside Soap that the pair had created a "genuine" gay relationship for Aaron and Jackson. Marc Silcock has admitted that Emmerdale's Jackson Walsh will always love Aaron Livesy. Jackson is currently dealing with the news that he has been left paralysed following a devastating accident and will have to adjust to life in a wheelchair. However, Silcock told What's On TV that despite Jackson giving Aaron (Danny Miller) a "get-out" clause, they are still both fighting for their relationship. "He didn't want him to stay with him because he felt he had an obligation to him - especially a Jackson who isn't able to touch, feel or move," Silcock said. "But Jackson misses him desperately. He still loves Aaron - he always will." However, he revealed that Aaron will be (more)...

Ricky Martin has had a hugely visible week. I’m drawing a blank on any talk shows he’s missed being on, and he just seems incredibly happy on each. He’s also the coverboy for People en Español , with his children in his arms. I have no idea what the article says, but I’m sure it’s great.
SAG/AFTRA signed a new deal with producers that avoided a strike for us, gave them immediate and future raises, and avoided big jumps in their health care costs. In this economy, that sounds like a miracle. But some aren’t happy, because the contract no long specifies first class airline travel on trips under 1,000 miles, or from Hollywood to Vancouver, slightly more than 1,000 miles, but very common. My heart bleeds for them.
Did anyone watch The Office episode about watching Glee? Evidently Oscar was “that guy” during the screening.

Emmerdale star Marc Silcock has admitted that he was concerned when he found out about his character's current plot. Viewers will see Silcock's character Jackson Walsh find out that he is paralysed from the neck down following last month's devastating crash. "I did have worries," he told the Daily Record. "My first reaction was how am I going to be able to do it? "Of course it's difficult, being an able-bodied person, to be lying on a bed 12 to 14 hours every day. Especially as an actor, as 90% of communication is body language - but I haven't got any of that. It's just my face and words." He continued: "It's hard to try [to] cry and laugh in a scene because you are constantly thinking, 'How would this work? Would that part of my body move or not?'. I am constantly asking the people filming it to (more)...

Emmerdale star Marc Silcock has admitted that he would only want to stick with the soap if his character's presence in the village still "made sense". The actor recently had his contract extended, meaning that he will remain in the role of Aaron Livesy's love interest Jackson Walsh until at least the spring. Speaking to Inside Soap about his future plans, Silcock explained: "I'd love to stay at Emmerdale, but only if the storyline made sense for Jackson. It's been my favourite place to work so far, but I wouldn't stay just for the money or to be on TV. "I'd rather go out on an amazing story than just hang around in the village for no reason. I want my (more)...

Emmerdale star Marc Silcock has revealed details of the severe setbacks in store for Jackson Walsh and Aaron Livesy in next week's episodes. Upcoming instalments of the ITV1 soap will see Silcock's character discover that he is highly likely to remain paralysed from his shoulders down in the aftermath of the shock train accident which nearly claimed his life. After receiving the devastating news, Jackson ends up rejecting Aaron, declaring that their relationship is over and he never wants to see him again. Speaking of Jackson's decision, Silcock commented: "I think there's a massive weight on Jackson's shoulders. After being told he can't walk again, he sends Aaron away and says 'you need to be with somebody else'. I think he does it to protect Aaron. Emmerdale star Marc Silcock has admitted that he was surprised when the soap's bosses offered him a new contract earlier this year. The actor announced last month that he had renewed his deal with the ITV1 show, meaning that he will continue playing Jackson Walsh until at least spring 2011. In an interview with Inside Soap, Silcock was asked to name the biggest shock he has received since taking on the role of Aaron Livesy's (Danny Miller) love interest. He replied: "I'd say being asked to stay in Emmerdale! Our producer Gavin [Blyth] took me up to his office and asked if it was okay to keep me on. I'd expected to come in, help with the storyline and then go - so that was the biggest (more)...

We start where we left off, with everyone dealing with the news that Jackson might be paralyzed from the neck down for the rest of his life…
Watching Emmerdale, especially during a really sad storyline like this puts me of two minds. First, I’m glad there’s a show that is consistently putting out brilliantly written and beautifully acted soapy drama and having their gay characters right in the middle of the action, without a whiff of homophobia hanging in the air. Unlike, say, As The World Turns, I know this show isn’t crippling Jackson in order to avoid their gay characters having sex.
But second, it makes me angry that we have to look at other countries to get that. And what’s really annoying is that it’s uncertain any U.S. daytime soap will ever give us another Luke Snyder or Reid Oliver or Kyle Lewis or Oliver Fish.

A new article pegs Daniel Radcliffe’s net worth at around $45 million, which is slightly more than Prince Harry and Prince William. It’s darned impressive, but are they really taking into account the ridiculous wealth that Prince William possesses through land titles and such?
So over the weekend the police were called to a laser tag arena in Canada in response to a complaint that 16-year-old Justin Bieber assaulted a 12-year-old patron during a match. It sounds awful on the surface, except further reports surfaced that Bieber just pushed past the kid when he got cornered in the match, like anyone would. Then even further reports surfaced that the 12-year-old called Bieber a faggot. So now the headline has gone from “Justin Bieber assaults 12-year-old boy” to “Bieber victim of anti-gay bullying.”
All of this is ugly, and amplified by celebrity, but it makes me wonder. 1) I suppose words hurt,...

Things didn’t look so good for Aaron and Jackson when we last saw them, what with Jackson being run over by a train and all. And as you would expect, it doesn’t get any better…
This is your typical after a tragedy hospital episode, where all the concerned parties catch up on what happened and there’s lots of worrying and fretting, assuring each other that the injured party will be okay, but terrified that they won’t survive. We’ve all seen it in soaps and dramas before, and it can be boring and tiresome, yet the good shows make it compelling. And Emmerdale, as always, took those soap clichés and made them watchable thanks to a mix of great writing, powerful acting by all the players and characters that we care deeply about.
I found Aaron’s reaction to the accident to be completely in character.
