An introvert explorer, in love with every expression of music,
Alessandro Ponti has carefully studied styles, periods and techniques,
becoming an eclectic yet deep composer.
Growing up with the music of Weather Report, Debussy and the right doses of rock, blues and jazz music, his nature has developed constantly yet professionally along two paths: the classical one, which led him to degrees in piano (Conservatorio di Novara, 2001), harpsichord (Conservatorio di Vicenza, 2005) and in modern literature (Università Cattolica di Milano 2005), and the jazz one on the Hammond organ, an always pulsating yet reserved vein.
He started composing for picture in 2006, writing the music for the documentary film "Martha: memorie di una strega" and he has been working for the media industry since then, writing music for cinema, video games, trailers. A very important collaboration is the one with publisher Slitherine/Matrix Games, for which he has composed music for many video games for PC, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS e iPad ("Horrible Histories: Ruthless Romans", "Battle Academy", "Panzer Corps" and other titles).
In 2010, after scoring two short films, Alessandro got his first feature film commission, "Sedona's Rule", working for a San Francisco-based production directed by filmmaker Josh Gillick.
While keeping up with videogame work, he landed his second feature film job at the end of 2011, scoring the thriller "House of Last Things" from his portable studio moved out to L.A. for the occasion.
His harpsichord piece "In fuga da Verona" won the British Harpsichord Society Composition Competition in 2012 and it is published by Cadenza Music.
