The cast overhauls of "Saturday Night Live" keep on coming. Earlier this year it was announced that longtime cast members Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant, Kyle Mooney, and Pete Davidson would not be returning for season 48, in addition to repertory players Alex Moffat, Melissa Villaseñor, and featured player Aristotle Athari, who exited the show after just one season. Unfortunately, this isn't the last exit before season 48, as Chris Redd announced today that he would be leaving the show after five seasons. That's eight of the 21 cast members, or nearly 40 of the on-screen talent.
"Being a part of 'SNL' has been the experience of a lifetime," Redd said in a statement about his departure (via TV Line). "Five years ago, I walked into 30 Rock knowing that this was an amazing opportunity for growth. Now, with friends who have become family and memories I will cherish forever, I'm grateful to...

Add Chris Redd to the list of veteran cast members walking away from “Saturday Night Live.”
Redd has decided to exit NBC’s venerable late-night showcase after five seasons on the program, and is just the latest member of what has been one of the program’s largest casts in recent memory to leave ahead of its 48th season. Lorne Michaels, the show’s longtime executive producer, had anticipated a season of change earlier in the year, and recently suggested the current group of comics stayed together to help each other get through the pandemic.

“Saturday Night Live” is trying to replenish its ranks after many of its best-known cast members have signaled they intend to leave the show.
The venerable NBC late-night program has enlisted four new featured players for its 48th season, a move that will lend some ballast to the cast after mainstays like Kate McKinnon and Aidy Bryant decided to leave. In many years, “”Saturday Night Live”” taps two or three new players per season, so four is more than the show typically brings on board.
The four new featured players include Marcello Hernandez, Molly Kearney, Michael Longfellow and Devon Walker. Hernandez, who bills himself as a writer, comedian and producer, is a Cuban-Dominican stand-up who has opened for Tim Dillon, Jim Breuer, Mark Viera, Gilbert Gottfried and others. Kearney is a Chicago-based comic. Longfellow, who hails from Arizona, has done stand up in Los Angeles. And Walker, who has made...

The cast turnover at Saturday Night Live is getting bigger.
Three more members of the NBC show’s ensemble — regulars Alex Moffat and Melissa Villaseñor and featured player Aristotle Athari — are leaving ahead of season 48, which begins in the fall. Their departures follow those of Aidy Bryant, Pete Davidson, Kate McKinnon and Kyle Mooney, who said their goodbyes in the final episode of season 47 in May.
Senior producer Lindsay Shookus, who had worked on SNL since the early 2000s and most recently was in charge of talent relations, also departed in late August.
Moffat and Villaseñor joined SNL as featured performers in 2016 and were promoted to repertory players two years later. Moffat played President Joe Biden in several sketches prior to last season, when James Austin Johnson took over the role, and had recurring “Weekend Update” bits as Eric Trump and Guy Who Just Bought a Boat.

Ken Aymong, a key producer at NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” who has helped maintain the business of the venerable late-night program for more than three decades, is stepping down from his post.
The cast nodded to Aymong’s departure early Sunday morning during the final minutes of the first episode of “SNL’s” 47th season, with Colin Jost holding up a placard that read, “We’ll miss you, Ken.” Aymong has decided to retire, according to a person familiar with the matter, after joining the program in the mid-1980s.
Aymong has been a key lieutenant of executive producer Lorne Michaels for many years, along with current and former producers like Erik Kenward, Steve Higgins, Lindsay Shookus, Erin Doyle, Mike Shoemaker and Marci Klein. Ben Affleck is beyond grateful to be in a good place again.
On Thursday’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the actor, 46, opened up about how his life has changed for the better following a rocky few months that saw him return to rehab for continued treatment in his ongoing battle with alcoholism.
After remarking that Affleck, who’s been promoting his new Netlix movie Triple Frontier, hadn’t been on the show in two years, DeGeneres acknowledged that “a lot has happened” since then.
“You look healthy and happy and I’m happy for you,” the 61-year-old television host added.
