It was an eventful first four months on the job for the newbie Nurses. Season 1 of the Canadian medical drama ended its NBC shift on Tuesday by tackling a pregnancy scare, alcoholism and sexual assault.

Andy McNally (Missy Peregrym) is empathetic, sometimes at a cost. That's what he did when he was undercover as a drug dealer for eight months until his cover was blown and he was forced back on the beat.

There doesn't seem to be much danger of ABC's Rookie Blue being cancelled any time soon. The show is produced in Canada and the fifth season has 22 episodes (instead of the usual 13). However, they're being split into two parts -- half will air this summer while the rest will run at a later date. This kind of move often spells the end for a series. Will there be a sixth season? Stay tuned.

ABC has brought Rookie Blue, their summer cop series, back for a fourth season. The show is produced in Canada so its fate isn't neccesarily dependent on Us ratings. Now, picking up where we left off ...
Season 4 of "Rookie Blue" wrapped up Thursday (Sept. 12) with "You Can See the Stars," the two-part season finale's conclusion handled by two of the series' executive producers and behind-the-scenes reliables, writer (and showrunner) Tassie Cameron and director David Wellington.
With their typical expertise bountifully evident, it's a very safe bet that any fan who was there to the final scene now feels Season 5 can't come soon enough.
The show really did pick up at the end of the previous chapter, with alleged pedophile Kevin Ford (Michael Cram) again knocking out his handcuffed captive: Officer Oliver Shaw (Matt Gordon), who was in the trunk of his police car, parked in a remote area.
Sam (Ben Bass) interrogated his girlfriend -- and Ford's stalker -- Marlo (Rachael Ancheril) about the last time she saw Ford, while Nick (Peter Mooney) tried to radio Oliver. Unbeknownst to him,...

Before he could talk about any of the details, "Rookie Blue" co-star Gregory Smith said the episode he directed this season was "big."
He wasn't kidding.
"Under Fire," Thursday's (Sept. 5) intense chapter of the ABC police drama, was the first half of the show's Season 4 finale -- and though it seems a cliche to say it put most of the regular characters in the line of fire, it truly did. And no one knew that more in the opening moments than Andy and Chloe (Missy Peregrym, Priscilla Faia).
The hour began on a light note with the gang playing trivia at The Black Penny, and Chloe won. Things started veering toward the serious as Gail (Charlotte Sullivan) found Holly (Aliyah O'Brien) waiting there to meet someone else, while at home, Andy told Nick (Peter Mooney) of her ongoing guilt over having doctored Marlo's (Rachael Ancheril) police memo book at Sam's (Ben Bass) urging.

Heading into the home stretch of its fourth season, "Rookie Blue" is letting some of its cops play very close to the edge.
Marlo (Rachael Ancheril) is a prime example, especially as of Thursday's (Aug. 29) episode of the ABC police drama, "Deception." The hour opened by showing her parked across the street from the home of Kevin Ford (guest star Michael Cram), the alleged pedophile who was a suspect when Chris' (Travis Milne) supposed son disappeared in the episode "What I Lost" two weeks ago.
Marlo clearly hadn't given up pursuing him, and he caught her peering into his house -- and claiming "harassment," he said he intended to call her bosses. "Your career's over!," he shouted after her.
Elsewhere, Andy (Missy Peregrym) roused a sleeping Nick (Peter Mooney) after a night spent together. "Whatever this is," he told her of their new relationship, "I don't totally hate it." She concurred,...

Rachael Ancheril surely has stirred the pot since joining "Rookie Blue" this year.
And with three weeks left in the ABC police drama's fourth season, she's not done yet. Thursday's (Aug. 29) new episode sees her character, Officer Marlo Cruz, cross a very big line: She continues her self-assigned surveillance of the alleged pedophile (guest star Michael Cram) suspected, but eventually cleared, in the recent disappearance of Officer Chris Diaz's (Travis Milne) supposed son.
When the man is found assaulted in his home, circumstances implicate Marlo, whose bipolar condition also leads others to ponder whether she was involved in the attack. It's rich material for a series co-star, particularly a relatively new one, and Toronto native Ancheril appreciates the opportunity.
"The bipolar aspect was really a very big thing for me in prepping for the character," she tells Zap2it. "I've always thought that with Marlo, her job is the No.

Sometimes, handling one thing yields something bigger.
Such was Oliver's (Matt Gordon) fortune in mediating a neighborhood domestic dispute in the opening moments of Thursday's (Aug. 22) ABC "Rookie Blue" episode, "You Are Here." After apparently resolving the discord -- which the husband admitted could have been because he "forgot our anniversary" (whoops!) -- Oliver noticed an odd, "super-skunky" smell.
He and partner du jour Gail (Charlotte Sullivan) then uncovered a "grow-op," or as Sam (Ben Bass) put it, a house "swimming in illegal marijuana plants." And a smart-alecky young suspect named Chuck (Doug Smith) was taken into custody and turned over to Chloe (Priscilla Faia), alias -- at least for this story -- "the booking fairy."
Meanwhile, Andy (Missy Peregrym) told Nick (Peter Mooney) her concerns about feeling "sneaky" about their secretive new romance. When he offered to tell his ex Gail about it, Andy insisted on being the one...

A kidnapping is the worst nightmare for any parent. Add in an unexpected revelation and Travis Milne explained how it will all send Chris Diaz spiraling down a dark path.
Below, TV Fanatic Christine Orlando is joined by Jenn and Kelley from Two Worlds Collide: A Sam Swarek/Andy McNally Fan Forum for this week's Rookie Blue Round Table, as they debate what Chris will do about Denise's betrayal and whether or not Nick and Andy could find their happily ever after.
So join in, Rookie Blue fans, and give us your answers in the comments below regarding "What I Lost."

What was your favorite scene from the episode?
Jenn: I really loved the return of Chris and when Gail flung herself into his arms. It’s really nice to have an original character back and seeing how much Chris Diaz has changed over the past few seasons, he has toughened up a bit.

In my interview with Travis Milne this week, he mentioned that Chris Diaz would be headed down a darker path this season. Now we know what led him there.
"What I Lost" sent Chris' life spiraling out of a control. Unfortunately, he's been going toward this destination for a while now.
When Denise first showed up with Christian I was surprised the Chris never got a DNA test. The tests are so prevalent these days that it felt like the least he could do to protect himself. But Chris is such a good guy that he couldn't imagine that his long time girlfriend would lie to him about something so important.
Boy, was he wrong.
Chris left a job he loved, moved out of the city and said goodbye to his friends behind to live with a woman he didn't love in order to be a father to his child.

If a character is going to return to a show, he may as well do it in a big way.
So it was for Chris (Travis Milne) in "What I Lost," Thursday's (Aug. 15) episode of ABC's "Rookie Blue." His visit to Toronto with his family initially revealed an even-more-fun side of Andy and Nick (Missy Peregrym, Peter Mooney), who played with Chris' young son Christian at a park playground, but things turned very serious very fast.
As the former undercover partners started to have a conversation about whether to embark on a personal relationship, they were distracted by a woman's cry for help after her companion collapsed. Nick and Andy ran to the rescue -- and when Andy returned, Christian was gone.
Oliver (Matt Gordon) began to lead the investigation, but Andy didn't deal well with suddenly being cast in the role of victim. And upon his arrival at the scene,...

Travis Milne was off "Rookie Blue" for only three episodes, but he says it felt "like an eternity" to him.
Several weeks into its current Season 4, the Canadian-made ABC police drama let his character -- Officer Chris Diaz -- make good on his promise to move from Toronto to Timmins with the young son he didn't know he had, along with the boy's mother. They return for a visit in Thursday's (Aug. 15) episode, but any joy is torpedoed when the child disappears while Andy and Nick (Missy Peregrym, Peter Mooney) are minding him.

Well, you'll have to wait and see but I'm glad to be back. I think people are still wondering if it's going to be permanent or not. I think people just kind of assume if I'm back, I'm back. It's definitely exciting to be back.

Just when you don't want to know someone any better, you end up quarantined together.
Such is the luck of Officer Andy McNally (Missy Peregrym), who found herself forcibly isolated with her ex-love Sam Swarek's (Ben Bass) current girlfriend -- Officer Marlo Cruz (Rachael Ancheril) -- in Thursday's (July 18) ABC "Rookie Blue" episode "Poison Pill."
Uncomfortably partnered for the day and following a lead on a drug dealer, the women suddenly found themselves covered in heroin tainted with anthrax ... and stuck in the art gallery where they had collared the dealer, after he up-ended a table that sent the powder flying all over the two cops. 'Just another day at the office," as Swarek wryly summed it up.

ABC gave its Toronto-set cop drama an early renewal today, shrugging off the show’s season-low numbers from last week. Instead, the network pointed out that Rookie Blue is the summer’s No. 1 show in total viewers for its 10Pm Thursday slot, resulting in its most-watched season since 2010. Produced in the Great White North by Icf Films and Entertainment One, the series stars Missy Peregrym and Gregory Smith as cops who still feel like rookies despite their four years on the job. Charlotte Sullivan, Enuka Okuma, Travis Milne, Peter Mooney, Ben Bass, Priscilla Faia and Rachael Ancheril co-star. Production on Season 5 will begin in January for a summer 2014 premiere.

How easy is it for youngsters to be misunderstood? The latest "Rookie Blue" yields plenty of evidence.
The aptly titled "The Kids Are Not Alright," Thursday's (July 11) episode of the ABC police drama, offered two stories of teens and trouble. In one plot, Andy and Gail (Missy Peregrym, Charlotte Sullivan) found a boy crammed into the trunk of a car during a seemingly typical traffic check. Let's get real, though: If a "Rookie Blue'' hour opens with such a check, what are the chances it will stay "typical"?
The other main plot involved Sam's (Ben Bass) search for the person who fatally shot another teen, a hunt that came to involve rival gangs. A former gang member who started out as a suspect was revealed to be the victim's cousin ... and the real target of the shooting. Even worse, text messages showed he was being set up by his relative,...

Ok, rookies: Break's over. Back to business.
The cops of "Rookie Blue" immediatey proved they knew that, since they were immersed in a paintball "war" in the opening moments of Thursday's (June 27) episode "Different, Not Better" -- with the Bee Gees' "Stayin' Alive" on the soundtrack! -- as the ABC police drama resumed Season 4, following a three-week hiatus for NBA Finals coverage.

Then it was on to the main case of the week, the hunt for a robber of Atm customers who always left them with a $20, and also left something else: a view of his derriere's tattoo, proudly displayed to a surveillance camera.
The pursuit offered a bigger introduction to lively, instinctive...

"You're Andy McNally. You don't give up."
You said it, Oliver Shaw (Matt Gordon) ... and his fellow cop McNally (Missy Peregrym) proved it several times over Thursday (May 30) as ABC's "Rookie Blue" aired episode 2 of Season 4, "Homecoming." And the story, respectively written and directed by series veterans Russ Cochrane and David Wellington, reaffirmed that the show continually succeeds by being as much (if not more) about the regular characters as the given week's crime.
On her first day back on the job after the undercover mission that took her and Nick Collins (Peter Mooney) away from 15 Division for several months, Andy wasted no time getting back into literal action. Spared by Oliver's quick intervention from having to ride with Marlo Cruz (Rachael Ancheril) -- the new flame of Andy's ex, Sam Swarek (Ben Bass) -- Andy sensed trouble upon seeing someone flee from a bank.
Of course, she was correct: robbery in progress.

The rookie cops of Division 15 may have more experience now, but they still can land in a heapin' helpin' of trouble.
Thursday's (May 23) Season 4 opener of ABC's "Rookie Blue," titled "Surprises," demonstrated that amply. For starters, there was the expected front-and-center story of Officers Andy McNally and Nick Collins (Missy Peregym, Peter Mooney).
Right off the bat, they were seen immersed six months later in the undercover operation they left everything and everyone behind for -- including their respective, fellow badge-wearing loves Sam Swarek and Gail Peck (Ben Bass, Charlotte Sullivan) -- at the end of Season 3.
That case would be closed in the first hour of Season 4, but not before a new bond between Andy and Nick made itself known ("It hasn't all been bad," he said as their job was winding down, met by her warm smile). And not before each of them took some blows, quite literally.

Even after three years on the beat, rookie cops still can have a lot to learn.
That's evident right from the start of Season 4 of "Rookie Blue," the Canadian-made drama that's now a well-rated summer programming mainstay for ABC. The show resumes Thursday, May 23, with what was set up by the previous round's last scene: Officers Andy McNally and Nick Collins (Missy Peregrym, Peter Mooney) are in the thick of the dangerous meth-related sting operation they've gone deep under cover for.
The loves they left behind, Sam Swarek and Gail Peck (Ben Bass, Charlotte Sullivan), and other colleagues from 15 Division search for them when they suddenly fall off the radar. Dov Epstein, Traci Nash, Chris Diaz, Oliver Shaw and Sgt. Frank Best (Gregory Smith, Enuka Okuma, Travis Milne, Matt Gordon, Lyriq Bent) also are back and in on the hunt, joined by new training officer Marlo Cruz (Rachael Ancheril). Rookie...

As any one of its millions of fans can attest, Rookie Blue’s fantastic third season has been nothing short of an emotional roller coaster. Thus, it’s only fitting that tonight’s penultimate episode of the season springs yet another surprise on the boys and girls in blue when a prisoner in custody pulls a gun on Chris at the station. More exciting still, we recently had the pleasure of catching up with Chris’ portrayer, Travis Milne, to preview the episode and his character’s remarkable journey thus far.
Your character Chris is at the focal point of tonight’s episode “Every Man.” What can you share about Chris’ mindset during hour?
Travis: It’s definitely tense. The whole episode is a bit of a thrill-ride. The way the episode is written is very interesting because we play with time and perspectives in a different manner than we have in all of Rookie Blue.

On tonight's Rookie Blue, Chris is thrown into a situation that could change everything for him and his fellow cops.
In anticipation of "Every Man," Travis Milne talked to TV Fanatic about his character's love life, who he'd love more scenes with and when Chris Diaz reaches his boiling point.
-------------------------------------------
Before this season Chris had always been more of a one woman kind of guy. But since his breakup with Gail we've seen big changes in his behavior. Were you surprised?
I feel like the viewers are surprised, but from an actor's point of vi but I was kind of hoping that my character would experience something of authenticity. I feel like what Chris has gone through is really relevant to a lot of young men... It's usually never the breakup with the high school sweetheart or the first love that really rocks your boat. If it isn't easy being a cop, it's especially complicated being a rookie named Gail Peck.
With an off-putting attitude that cloaks a deep vulnerability and a police family tradition to live up to -- not to mention the need to work with not just one but two ex-flames -- there's surely a lot on the plate of the officer played by Charlotte Sullivan on "Rookie Blue," the Canadian-made Thursday ABC drama now in its third season and already renewed for a fourth.
While literally on the line between the U.S. and Canada, the pleasant actress saw the effect of the show's popularity. "We were shooting, and I had to rush to my brother's wedding in Buffalo [N.Y.]," she recalls on the "Rookie Blue" set. "I was driving, and I got to the border, and I had forgotten my car's insurance card.

Rookie Blue has been renewed for a fourth season.
But Traci Nash is too focused to celebrate this exciting news. The officer kicks off her first day as a detective on tomorrow night's new episode, and actress Enuka Okuma is here to preview what's ahead for Traci, including upcoming challenges and wardrobe issues...
-------------------------------------------
In "Girls Night Out" it looks like Traci is finally getting her own major story arc. Can you tell us a little about that?
Enuka: I think it's been really interesting what's happened with the writers. I guess because it's been three years on the air, that they're starting to spread the story lines out a little bit. It's becoming quite an ensemble show. Yeah, it was exciting to have my own story line and you'll see that with other characters as well this year. It was great. It was fun.
Will moving up to detective change her relationship with Jerry?...

When you're a rookie, you still have things to learn, as Travis Milne knows in his third season in.
The actor is continuing his role as Officer Chris Diaz on "Rookie Blue," the Canadian-made police drama that has rejoined ABC's Thursday lineup. As he gets more experience on the job, he's dealing with a personal hurdle since his love interest -- fellow officer Gail Peck (Charlotte Sullivan) -- has temptation in the form of Nick Collins (Peter Mooney), the precinct's new rookie from her past.
Chris had a dicey time with romance last season, too, when fellow cop Dov Epstein (Gregory Smith) also showed feelings for Gail. "Chris and Dov definitely went through one of the rockiest parts of their friendship," the lively Milne confirms, "that was almost bound to happen when the best friend's got a really great girl and the other guy is around her all the time.

Harold And Maude (Criterion) Hal Ashby’s masterpiece of black humor centers on a wealthy young man (Bud Cort) who’s obsessed with death and the septuagenarian (Ruth Gordon) with whom he finds true love. As unabashedly romantic as it is quirky, with Cat Stevens supplying one of the great film scores of all-time. Fine support from Vivian Pickles, Cyril Cusack, Charles Tyner, and Ellen Geer. Fine screenplay by Colin Higgins. Also available on Blu-ray disc. Bonuses: Commentary by Hal Ashby biographer Nick Dawson, producer Charles Mulvehill; Illustrated audio excerpts from seminars by Ashby and Higgins; Interview with Cat Stevens. Widescreen. Dolby 2.0 stereo.
In Darkness (Sony) Agnieszka Holland’s Ww II epic tells the true story of a sewer worker and petty thief in Nazi-occupied Poland who single-handedly helped hide a group of Jews in the city’s labyrinthine sewer system for the duration of the war.

The Toronto-area building could be any industrial business, given its outward appearance.
On the inside, though, the first floor houses an ultramodern police station ... even if it's only for dramatic purposes.
The site is the production base of "Rookie Blue," the Canadian-made series that launches its third ABC season Thursday, May 24. Though the new round opens with a big-name guest star -- Montreal native William Shatner as a drunken driver with an inherent dislike of the police -- the focus of the show remains on the young cops who certainly know more when they began the job but still have a lot to learn.
Surely that's true for Andy McNally (Missy Peregrym), who ended the second season suspended from the force. The reason: her decision to pursue a long-percolating romance with Sam Swarek (Ben Bass), her former training officer, which ended up endangering his life during an undercover assignment and...

Chicago – ABC’s “Rookie Blue” may be the biggest TV hit with the least amount of press. Perhaps because it’s a Canadian import or because it’s a summer series but the show never makes magazine covers or even highlight articles in entertainment magazines. But it’s developed into a pretty solid cop show, as evidenced by the tight, well-made third-season premiere with a great guest appearance from William Shatner.
TV Rating: 3.5/5.0
The man also known as Captain Kirk guest stars in a purely dramatic role (and totally nails it) as a drunk driver who crashes into a van, causing a pile-up with a cop car. Things get very weird from there. The van has propane in the back and goes up in flames. Both Shatner’s driver and one of the cops, Andy McNally (Missy Peregrym), just back from suspension, see a girl in the back of the van.

Rookie Blue has been renewed for a third season. As a result, Travis Milne can look ahead a bit and project what he thinks will happen to his character of Chris Diaz.
Sam Swarek, meet your doppelganger?
"We're gonna see him become a bit of a bad ass," Milne told me last week. "You might make some comparisons to Swarek, not that Swarek is mean, but he's more edgy and more aware of evils in the city than Chris has been."
Indeed, Diaz was the most naive of all rookie officers when we first met him. He was a stickler for rules, one who believed in a black-and-white answer for everything.
As events and cases have unfolded, Diaz has changed. For the better, Milne thinks.
"It's been exciting to play a character whose systematically unfolding new aspects of his life. By being introduced to many things, his eyes are definitely open.

'Rookie Blue' is a bona fide summer hit. ABC and Canadian broadcaster Global television announced today that their jointly produced summer series will return in 2012 for a third season.
According to the release, the show has performed well for ABC after its time slot move to 10Pm on Thursdays. The series is the No. 1 show in its time slot among adults 18-49, and has improved 8 percent in total viewers from its rookie season. Season 3 is currently in development, and will shoot in Canada at the end of the summer.
The Toronto-set drama follows the personal and professional lives of newbie cops played by Missy Peregrym, Gregory Smith, Travis Milne, Enuka Okuma and Charlotte Sullivan -- kind of like a police-focused 'Grey's Anatomy.'

Serve, Protect & "shots fired!"
Hi everyone, I've been lurking on this site for a while but have decided that it's time to have more of a presence. This is my very first blog post ever. This site is such a great way for TV fans to connect with one another I thought I would write about my favourite show- Rookie Blue. For those of you not familiar with the show it's a Canadian creation airing on ABC in the States & Global TV in Canada. It follows the training period (which can be as long as five years) of five new police recruits or 'rookies' as they find their feet in 'fifteen division' in Toronto. The show has a stellar cast of mostly Canadian talent, I first started watching this show when it aired here at the start of the year & it quickly became my favourite, the thing I like about...

Prepare for gun fire — ABC’s Rookie Blue returns this Thursday at 10/9c with the rookies growing up into training officer-less cops. But that doesn’t mean they know what they’re doing. In the new season, Missy Peregrym’s Andy will find herself hurt in the line of duty — and torn between two very attractive men, who also happen to be her co-workers. But, as Peregrym tells TVLine, there’s a new woman in the police station who’s going to make Andy’s love life even more complicated.

You can smell a rookie like you can smell fresh paint. That’s what Police Academy grad Andie McNally (Missy Peregrym) is told by her training officer her first day on the job. The quote originated with her father, a cop now retired from the force. Rookie Blue follows a group of police academy grads from first day on. The group, Fifteen Division, is supposed to have the most promising rookies in their classes, fresh faced and ready for anything, but learn very quickly that there’s nothing that can prepare you for life on the street.
We meet the group in the first episode at a bar celebrating their graduation from the academy. Each rookie is handcuffed by an officer, pushed on the bar, and told to get out of the handcuffs “any way they know how.” This is an effective plot device in that depending on how each...
