The company is part of Fremantle.
Ahead of the Berlinale, Miso founders Peter Bose and Jonas Allen discussed with Variety their ambition to find new voices and original ways to tell stories.

Variety has been given exclusive access to the trailer (below) for Danish horror film “Speak No Evil,” which has its world premiere at Sundance. Sales are being handled by TrustNordisk.
The film follows a Danish family on vacation in Tuscany, where they befriend a Dutch family. Months later the Danish couple receive an invitation to visit the Dutch and decide to go for the weekend. However, it doesn’t take long before the joy of reunion is replaced by misunderstandings. Things gradually get out of hand, as the Dutch turn out to be something different than what they have pretended to be.
The film was directed by Christian Tafdrup, and written by Christian Tafdrup and Mads Tafdrup.
Christian Tafdrup describes “Speak No Evil” as a satirical horror movie. “Satirical, because it revolves around ordinary people’s absurdly recognizable ways of behaving. A horror movie, because the film is dark, evil and willingly foul.

Frederik Louis Hviid and Anders Ølholm’s directorial debut is set in a fictive ghetto outside Copenhagen. The Danish thriller Shorta (“Police” in Arabic) has just wrapped principal photography. The project, directed by duo Frederik Louis Hviid and Anders Ølholm, is set in a fictive ghetto outside the Danish capital. Hviid, a former student at Super16 in Valby, recently directed two episodes of the successful crime TV series Follow the Money, while Ølholm, a graduate of the National Film School, has penned several important Danish productions, such as Fenar Ahmad’s Flow (2014) and Jacob Bitsch’s Letters for Amina (2017). The story, written in its entirety by the young duo, centres on Talib Ben Hassi, a 19-year-old boy whose life hangs by a thread. The exact details of what took place while he was in police custody remain unclear. Police officers Jens and Mike are on routine patrol in the local ghetto.
Works-in-progress section featured a slew of English-language films.
The first footage from the English-language drama End Of Sentence, starring John Hawkes was unveiled during the works- in- progress presentations at Iceland’s Stockfish film festival in Reykjavik last week.
Us actor Hawkes, who was nominated for a best supporting actor Oscar for Winter’s Bone in 2011, stars as a man trying to fulfill his late wife’s last wish, to go on a road trip with his son, played by Logan Lerman, to scatter her ashes in rural Ireland. The cast also includes Sarah Bolger, Andrea Irvine and Trapped’s Olafur Darri Olafsson.

The Danish film industry is on a roll this year with berths secured at major festivals besides the Berlinale where Lone Scherfig’s “The Kindness of Strangers” landed the opening slot, just as Susanne Bier’s Sandra Bullock starrer “Bird Box” is breaking records on Netflix and first-timer Gustav Möller’s “The Guilty” made the foreign-language Oscar shortlist.
It’s a particularly good time because different types of local productions are performing well both at home, where the domestic share of total admissions was a strong 29% in 2018, and in the international arena, which is seeing a new generation of Danish directors coming to the fore.
Last year there were 26 homegrown titles released in Denmark that sold 3.8 million tickets total, up from 2.5 million tickets in 2017, when the national market share was 20%.

When it comes to likely homes for tales of masked vigilantes, Denmark is not particularly high on the list. There's just something about the concept of someone taking the law into their own hands tht doesn't click with the public perception of the Scandinavian states and yet that's exactly what we find with Fenar Ahmad's upcoing Darkland (Underverden). A successful doctor loses his little brother in a gang-related assault and gives up his privileged life to become a masked avenger on a mission to revenge his brother’s death. Dar Salim takes the lead role in what looks to be a bit of a boundary pusher for the popular characer actor and judging from the freshly released teaser things are looking quite good for all involved....

Catch up with the key news and projects from the Goteborg Film Festival and Nordic Film Market.A warm ‘Welcome’ ahead of Efm
One of the hottest premieres in Goteborg was Welcome To Norway!, the immigration-themed dramedy that was the first film to sell out and later won the Audience Award for best Nordic film. Its industry and press screenings were also packed, setting the film up well as it heads to Berlin’s Efm, where Beta Cinema handles sales.
Director Rune Langlo Denstad said he had the project in mind for more than ten years after he visited a centre for asylum seekers while working on documentary projects. A decade later, the film couldn’t be more topical.
The story follows Primus (Anders Baasmo Christiansen), a desperate and somewhat racist hotel owner in a remote Norwegian village who wants to turn his hotel into a home for asylum seekers to cash in on government funding. Of course...

The 2010 Los Angeles Film Festival is set to run June 17-27 in a brand new location. Oh, it’s still in L.A, but it’s moving across town, from Westwood — where it’s been held the past few years — all the way over to Downtown.
The main “hub” for the fest will be the new L.A. Live complex, but there will also be screenings at other locations, such as the Downtown Independent and Redcat theaters. The city is really trying to build downtown up into a major arts and culture hub, so the festival moving there fits in with that agenda.
