Bob Peurifoy
Bob joined Sandia Labs in New Mexico in 1952 after graduating from Texas A&M. He remained at Sandia for 39 years, serving as director of nuclear weapon development and retiring as a vice president. He was commended by Secretary of Energy James Watkins for his "outstanding service to our national security program," including his "strong advocacy for improving the safety of deployed weapons" and "significant cost savings."
During his retirement he continued to urge a reduction in the number of nuclear weapons in the stockpile and improved security.
