Julia Campanelli is an award-winning filmmaker, actress, and Raindance Fellow known for her commitment to gender parity and inclusion in the arts. Founder of Shelter Film, dedicated visually provocative and socially impactful projects by and about women and underrepresented humans. Shelter's inaugural film, 116, has screened in over 50 festivals world-wide, won 27 awards including six Best Film and five Best Director Awards. Julia's screenplay, The Paisley Witch Trial, in pilot and feature versions, has received 12 Best Screenplay awards including Raindance Best Unproduced Screenplay and Francis Ford Coppola American Zoetrope Screenplay Finalist. Julia was Founder and Artistic Director of Shelter Theatre Group, a not-for-profit company dedicated to diversity and inclusion on stage. She directed and produced 13 stage productions in New York, including the site specific, critically acclaimed MACBETH on LES. As an actress Julia is known for NBCUniversal's Dementia 13, 116, Kill the Monsters, and as Hecate in Punchdrunk's Obie, Drama Desk, & Outer Critics Award-winning immersive production Sleep No More.
