At this point it seems pretty obvious that Olympic athlete and medalist Shani Davis is the inspiration behind Frozone from The Incredibles. From the way he skates and the way he looks Frozone has taken a lot from Davis’ image and fortunately though he wasn’t given Davis’ arrogance. Recently Davis has been the subject of a slight backlash since he decided to throw a bit of a temper tantrum in regards to who got to hold the American flag for the USA during the opening ceremony. Since he’d already been to the Olympics and was such a decorated athlete Davis

The 2018 Winter Olympic Games in PyeongChang, South Korea officially begin with the opening ceremony on Friday night, February 8, launching two weeks of competition that will showcase the world’s best skaters, skiers, snowboarders, hockey players and more. But of course the most important question is, how well can they cha cha?
“Dancing with the Stars” returns on April 30 for its 26th season, but it will be an irregular competition in more ways than one. First, the season will last only 4 weeks, far shorter than the 10 to 12 weeks we usually get. Second, the season will consist entirely of athletes, which means the show will be well positioned to recruit some Olympians fresh off their glorious victories — or perhaps their tragic defeats. And this wouldn’t be the first time. Ice dancers Meryl Davis and Charlie White both competed on “DWTS” (season 18) immediately after winning gold medals in the 2014 Winter Olympics in...

Team USA speedskater Shani Davis sat out Friday’s Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony in Pyeongchang, South Korea, a spokesman for U.S. Speedskating confirmed to TheWrap. A day earlier, Davis vented his frustration over a coin flip costing him the opportunity to carry the United States flag during the event’s Parade of Nations march. He shredded Team USA’s tie-breaker rules, saying the position was “dishonorably” decided. “I am an American and when I won the 1000m in 2010 I became the first American to 2-peat in that event,” Davis wrote Thursday on Twitter. He added he can “wait until 2022” and included a “#BlackHistoryMonth2018” hashtag. Also Read:...

Team USA has arrived!
U.S. Olympians marched into PyeongChang Olympic Stadium at the 2018 Winter Olympics with wide smiles on Friday during the ceremonial kick-off of the Games. The group added a special touch to the opening ceremony as South Korea showcased its culture through performance and spectacle on the world stage.
The group waved and dancing into the venue, and U.S. Vice President Mike Pence gave a wave to the athletes from the stands.

In frigid temperatures and under the watch of spectators around the world, South Korea opened the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang on Friday night — or Friday morning here in the U.S. — with a joyous ceremony centered on peace.
The colorful, culture-filled ceremony featured a group of young kids who appeared to embark on a journey through South Korea’s rugged mountains with Pyeongchang’s official Olympic mascot, Soohorang, a white tiger. Soon, the children encountered several other creatures, and a group of drummers stunned the crowd as they played along with a group of surrounding performers.

While Team USA member Erin Hamlin was chosen to lead dozens of athletes through the Parade of Nations at the Winter Olympics opening ceremony on Friday, American speed skater Shani Davis called into question the circumstances around her selection.
Davis, who was in contention to become flag bearer during a voting process led by Olympic officials, called the method in which Hamlin was picked “dishonorable” in a tweet shortly after the announcement.
In his post, Davis included a reference to February being Black History Month, hinting that he believes race may have played a part in the pick (Hamlin is white,...

U.S. men’s speed skater Shani Davis is less than thrilled he lost a coin toss to determine who will be the country’s flag bearer at Friday’s Winter Olympic Opening Ceremony in Pyeongchang, South Korea. The four-time medalist shredded Team USA’s decision on Twitter on Thursday, saying Team USA “dishonorably” resorted to flipping a coin to pick its representative. I am an American and when I won the 1000m in 2010 I became the first American to 2-peat in that event. @TeamUSA dishonorably tossed a coin to decide its 2018 flag bearer. No problem. Welcome, welcome to an Olympic night filled with speed skating, a little slalom — say that three times fast — and more speed skating. Tonight’s Olympics coverage was all about the final women’s alpine skiing event, and more speed-skating crashes than you could possibly handle. Add in a little more Shani Davis disappointment, and that’s about it!
First things first, our Olympic Stud of the Day honor shall be handed to America’s own Mikaela Shiffrin who became the youngest slalom gold medalist at the age of 18. Not only that, but for a moment in her second run, she almost fell over,...

Olympians are often treated like superheroes. After all, they seem to have super human strength, speed and beauty. So, we at VH1 wanted to subject our favorite athletes of the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi to the same criteria that we put Superman under last summer. The Olympics might award rankings for speed, technical difficulty and artistic merit. However, we’re focusing our attentions on the Olympic crotches.
What does America speed skater Shani Davis have in common with Swiss cross country skiing gold medalist Dario Cologna? Or with German luge gold medalists Tobias Arit and Tobias Wendl? Well, yes, they all have the honor of competing at the 2014 Winter Olympics. That’s true. But they all also wear some very tight spandex pants for their events. We’re not complaining. In fact, we’re celebrating.

The biggest win for the United States on Feb. 15 was unfortunately not for a medal. Hockey fans got to watch the game of their life as the U.S. faced off against Russia, resulting in basically another Miracle. Except our eye candy was upgraded from Patrick O’Brian Dempsey to T.J. Oshie. The only other American win was a bronze medal in men’s skeleton. As expected, the Europeans cleaned up in ski-jumping and super-g. But Team USA suffered another crippling loss in speed skating, and one that we couldn’t blame on the suits. Conspiracy theories may now commence.

About one week through the Winter Olympics in Russia, the United States has been relatively strong, pocketing 12 total medals. And as it turns out, many of our American winning athletes also deserve medals for being super hot!
So far, the United States hasn’t exactly blown away the competition at the Winter Olympics (give us a break, we don’t live in sub-zero year-round like those Norwegians), but we do have something else to hang our hats on. Because some of the American athletes who have won in Sochi are some of the sexiest people we’ve ever seen. Let’s take a look.
The Sexiest Medal-Winners From The USA
Julia Mancuso
Because of an unreal photo shoot Julia did with GQ before the games, we had our eyes on Julia. And she did Not disappoint. The skier, who might as well be a Victoria’s Secret model, took a bronze medal in alpine skiing.

It’s been a week since NBC started covering the Winter Olympics from Sochi, and so far ratings have settled into a predictable groove: Large respectable numbers, yet a tad less than Vancouver four years ago.
Through Thursday night, the competition is averaging 24.3 million viewers (down 9 percent) and a 6.6 rating in the demo (down 12 percent). Thursday night was no exception, down 9 percent in total viewers.
Big sporting events gone have often gone against the broadcast ratings downtrend and keep setting new record highs (like the Super Bowl). So why isn’t Sochi more popular than Vancouver? Almost certainly the biggest...

NBC’s Olympics coverage topped primetime once more on Wednesday, though versus the 2010 Game’s comparable night, Sochi coverage dropped 38 percent in the key demo. Viewers-wise, last night’s games were down 29 percent versus Vancouver. But there was a good reason: the comparable night four years ago is considered the most successful in U.S. history, with six medals won, including golds from downhill skier Lindsey Vonn, snowboarder Shaun White and speed-skater Shani Davis. NBC was first in ratings with a 5.6 rating/16 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and first in viewers with an average of 20.8 million, according to preliminary.

Fast National ratings for Wednesday, February 12, 2014. [Ratings were delayed this morning, forcing you to wait four full hours to learn what you could have already guessed. Sorry.] For the second straight day, NBC's primetime Winter Olympics coverage was built around the quest for a gold medal three-peat that fell short. But just as audiences tuned in to NBC to see Shaun White's disappointment, speedskater Shani Davis' loss (and other coverage from Sochi) still drew big numbers. As we move deeper into the Olympics, the other networks are offering less and less competition -- "American Idol" was...

Paul Stastny, Phil Kessel, and the rest of the U.S. men’s Olympic hockey team destroyed Slovakia on Feb. 13, bringing the team one step closer to the gold.

Two of the biggest names on the U.S. Winter Olympics team -- Shaun White and Lindsey Vonn -- are set to make their Vancouver debuts Wednesday (Feb. 17).
It's another busy day across the NBC spectrum, with hockey, curling and cross-country skiing joining White's snowboarding competition and Vonn's first ski race of the games in the coverage mix. Vonn and her highly scrutinized bruised shin will be competing in the women's downhill, which takes place during the day but will be featured in NBC's prime-time coverage. So avoid the web in the afternoon if you don't want to hear what happened.
Wednesday's highlights:
NBC
Daytime: The men's and women's cross-country sprints are featured from 3-5 p.m. Et/Pt. U.S. skier Kikkan Randall is a medal hopeful in the women's race.
