You've got to check out this trailer for an incredible looking film in development called The Last Scout. This is an independent film directed by Simon Phillips, and he made it on a shoestring budget. He is currently trying to raise funds through Indiegogo so that he can finish the VFX and other post-production work. The movie is a sci-fi space thriller, and from what I've seen in this trailer this looks like it could be an incredibly impressive movie for what they've had to work with to make it.
The story takes place in the year 2065, and earth has been destroyed after a nuclear war between the East and the West. It kind of has the same vibe as Christopher Nolan's Interstellar, as mankind is forced to leave earth to try and survive by finding a new home.

Paul Tanter’s White Collar Hooligan trilogy draws to a close with this first look at the concluding film, set against the backdrop of the World Cup.
Subtitled Revenge in Rio what the Nsfw trailer hints at is a situation spiraling out of control, with the gang following the World Cup to catch up with, and then beat up, some old friends.
Simon Phillips, Rita Ramnani and Vas Blackwood are joined by newcomer Josh Myers, who looks to be the man to end it all.

News on a new adaptation of Hedda Gabler, a new film about the Kray brothers, and more.
Aspect on board for Hedda Gabler
Aspect Film has taken on worldwide sales rights to Matthew John’s new period drama adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s classic play Hedda Gabler, currently in post. Rita Ramnani [pictured] takes the lead role, with the cast also including Jon-Paul Gates, Samantha Hunt, David Butler and Francisco Ortiz. Aspect Film’s Managing Director, Hugh Edwards said, “Matthew John has tackled an Ibsen classic with aplomb. To do so as a debutant director and achieve what he has deserves credit. John has pushed the envelope and it will be interesting to see the reaction from both Ibsen purists and newcomers to the Hedda Gabler story alike.” The film was shot at Maunsel House in Somerset, owned by Sir Benjamin Slade, who also executive produces the film.

*here be some spoilers. Director: Dominic Burns. Writer: Paul Chronnell. Cast: Mark Hamill, Craig Conway, Billy Murray, Sebastian Street, Simon Phillips, Julian Glover, Alan Ford, Gemma Atkinson, Rita Ramnani, and Andrew Shim. Chelsea Films is releasing Airborne across the United Kingdom on DVD July 30th. This is a film that puts a dozen passengers on a doomed flight across the Atlantic. One of their passengers is an ancient Chinese spirit that likes to possess the living. The other flight crew and trapped passengers are understandably shook up when the ghost of Chang starts offing characters via gory suicides. The action is almost laughable as the plot of a cursed vase threatens to ground this aircraft for good. And, something strange begins to happen as you watch this film. If you are a United Kingdom film fan, then you might notice that director Dominic Burns has recruited a few familiar faces.

Silent Souls (15)
(Aleksei Fedorchenko, 2010, Rus) Igor Sergeev, Yuriy Tsurilo, Yuliya Aug. 78 mins
Even by Russian standards, this lyrical road movie is a strange world of its own. It's a journey back in time, as much as across a remote landscape, with a friend helping his boss to give his deceased wife her last rites, according to their ancient tribal ways. Along the drive, we're steeped in strange folklore involving vodka, rivers, small birds and ornamental pubic hair. Is it for real? Or an elaborate joke told with a very straight face? Does it matter?
The Five Year Engagement (15)
(Nicholas Stoller, 2012, Us) Emily Blunt, Jason Segel, Chris Pratt. 124 mins
The obstacle to true love is built into the title of this romcom, but it's at least smartly handled, as high-flyer Blunt keeps her fiance in perpetual limbo.

Did you know that before Eve existed Adam had another wife named Lilith? Did you know vampire cowboys can be fans of Buffy? These are two of the things you will find out when you watch Umbrage: The First Vampire.
When this movie starts off like some cowboy movie with a vampire attack you think this may be the setting for the movie, but you would be wrong. After this initial attack we are taken to Europe, yet the music in the background keeps the whole country and western feel which gives it an odd feeling really. This does fit the movie as a whole though as I would describe it as odd.

Last Seven UK Art*Here be spoilers.
Director: Imran Naqvi.
Writer: John Stanley.
The Last Seven is a London shot film from a series of production companies including: Goliath Productions, Nightshade Productions, Press on Features, and Vesuvius Film Partners. The film was released in the United Kingdom August 27th, with a DVD/Blu-Ray release August 30th. Starring are the usual Brit' suspects: Tamer Hassan, Simon Phillips, Danny Dyer and others, with the film delving into the spiritual realm through graphic character flashbacks. The Last Seven is a slow paced thriller without an initial hook, which left this viewer slightly unsatisfied. On the plus side, there is beautiful cinematography and solid acting from the core group of actors and the film does take on some interesting existential themes. Plus Danny Dyer is in one of his first serious roles.
The film involves seven strangers waking up at the same time in a deserted London.

When William (Simon Phillips) regains consciousness he finds himself confused and alone in an empty London street. As he explores the area, he discovers that not only are all the people missing but so are his memories.
A chance encounter teams him up with six other lost souls, led by soldier Jack (Hassan), who are all haunted by fractured memories of a devastating event.

We’re gearing up to the release of The Last Seven, which got its 18 certificate from the BBFC today. A London based post-apocalyptic thriller dealing with the last seven people alive.
The film stars Tamer Hassan, Simon Phillips, Danny Dyer, Sebastian Street and Rita Ramnani and was directed by Imran Naqvi.
So far we’ve seen a great trailer and got to chat briefly with the Angel of Death himself Danny Dyer, you can see both of those clips here. There is also a recently released image, whch gives a good indication of what’s in store.
Dave and I were on set earlier in the year and we’ll be bringing our report as soon as we can, in the meantime check out this exclusive look at the UK poster. Click on it to see it in its full glory.

Umbrage is a horror styled vampire thriller set in the "Old West," and oddly enough this reviewer mentioned that there are very few horror themed Westerns released a few weeks ago (Umbrage). Now, with Revelation Trail, The Devil's Crossing, and Deadwalkers, there seems to be a wide range of films in this very unique sub-genre. Umbrage will add a vampire angle with tales of ancient antique deals, and mutilated corpses plus cowboys and six-shooters. Have a watch of a new clip for Umbrage, which has secured some international distribution, with domestic distro' forthcoming (London, England), inside.
A partial synopsis for Umbrage here:
"In the Old West, the assassination of an aging cowboy is thwarted by a sultry vampiress, the would-be killer left for dead in the dust…
A hundred years later an ancient obsidian mirror, long unearthed from the Mesopotamian desert, is liberated from an American collector’s vault and illegally transported to Europe.

Check out four new, behind-the-scenes images from Imran Naqvi’s high-concept thriller “The Last Seven” below. This is definitely one of my more anticipated films of 2010. And in case you missed it, take a look at the teaser trailer here. London is dead: silent and dead. Into this dead silence walk seven disparate souls thrown together purely by circumstance: each desperately hoping to find a reason as to why they are in the situation they are in and what, if anything they can do to escape it. But as we discover, reason holds little sway here…for in the darkness of this dead, silent metropolis something way beyond reason is on the move and it knows its prey is powerless to stop it… It knows it can take all the time that it needs… And it knows that at the last, it will prevail. Starring Danny Dyer, Tamer Hassan, Sebastian Street,...

Directed by first-timer Imran Naqvi, The Last Seven is a British post-apocalyptic "empty city" thriller that tells the story of a cataclysmic event that leaves only seven remaining people on earth. Just to make things worse, as they desperately struggle to understand the events they have been thrust into, they are hunted one by one by a powerful demonic power!
If the shades of 28 Days Later meets I am Legend haven't grabbed you then you'll love the look of the trailer. It doesn't give much away as it's a teaser, but it's pretty slick to look at.
The Last Seven stars Simon Phillips, Tamer Hassan, Sebastian Street, Daisy Head, Rita Ramnani and Danny Dyer.
Trailer after the break.

There is a lot happening in British independent film at the moment, with Gerard Johnson’s Tony making waves and Steve Lawson’s Dead Cert looking good for this year. A chorus of new voices are being heard, and their passion and talent is evident with every new release.
Here at HeyUGuys we are always looking to bring you news of these and other British movies and we’ve got something really rather special for you today.
We were lucky enough to visit the set of The Last Seven, the new film from Imran Naqvi and Simon Phillips, a thriller about, coincidentally enough, the last seven people on Earth, and we’ll bring you footage and pics from the visit in a later post.

UK writer / director, Drew Cullingham, makes his feature debut with Umbrage, a dark new indie vampire film that, through oodles of posturing, still looks like it might be pretty decent.
Synopsis:
"A family find themselves in the middle of a century old grudge between a vengeful undead cowboy and the re-awakened Lilith, mother to the Succubi, ruler of shadows, slaughterer of children, and consort to the devil himself.
Sometimes the only weapon against evil is evil itself...
Umbrage stars Doug Bradley of Hellraiser and Nightbreed fame along with Rita Ramnani, Jonnie Hurn (The Zombie Diaries), Natalie Celino, Grace Vallorani, James Fisher and Scott Thomas.
Trailer (via: Bd) after the break.
Embedded video stripped, see full HTML version.
