Exclusive: Producer Miranda Bailey, known for movies such as Swiss Army Man, Don’t Think Twice and The Diary of a Teenage Girl, says that multiple studios and streamers shied away from acquiring her completed drama series Unconventional due to its queer themes.
Bailey, who declined to name the companies, is instead planning to release the series in 2024 on VOD through distribution label The Film Arcade, which has acquired U.S. rights to the nine-episode season.
Eastsiders creator Kit Williamson is behind the Sundance Lab-developed drama, which follows eccentric, queer siblings Noah and Margot Guillory and their significant others Daniel Charles and Eliza Slate as they try to start an unconventional family while navigating their thirties.
Williamson stars as Noah alongside James Bland (Insecure), Aubrey Peeples (Nashville), Briana Venskus (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Beau Bridges (Masters of Sex), Kathy Griffin (Search Party), Dana Wheeler-Nicholson (Friday Night Lights), Tuc Watkins (Uncoupled), Willam Belli...

This post contains spoilers for "Ted Lasso" season 3 as well as "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."
Zava: The man, the myth, the legend. The latest teammate to join AFC Richmond, the plucky team at the heart of "Ted Lasso," is none other than a fictional football great with an enigmatic presence and a flair for the dramatic. Zava (Maximilian Osinski) declared his intentions to join the team at the end of the season's second episode, right as he was about to very publicly sign on to the Chelsea roster. We don't know much about Zava yet, except that he eats too much asparagus, parades around in a man-bun and fur coat, and is able to easily hold the attention of soccer fans and players worldwide.
After the Richmond players and coaches hyped him so much ahead of his appearance, I expected Zava's role to end up being a bit of stunt casting,...

This The Walking Dead review contains spoilers.
The Walking Dead Season 10 Episode 16
The Walking Dead has, occasionally, taken some heat for its special effects. For some, the problem is the practical effects, because they look a little too good for the comfort of some. For others, the issue is the CGI effects, because they have looked a little less than stellar at times. Remember the CGI deer? If not, don’t worry, no one will let you forget it. Special effects take money, time, and expertise to pull off well, and, as it turns out, the coronavirus delay was a positive for The Walking Dead‘s special effects crew.
There’s an immediate sense of tension to the characters from the very beginning of the episode. We’ve seen them running around, being nervous, preparing for a big battle before, but there’s an edge to them that we haven’t seen thus far.

We’ve now only got one month to go until The Walking Dead finally returns after what will be a six-month break for its long-delayed season 10 finale. And to mark the occasion, one of the stars of the post-apocalyptic drama has shared a behind-the-scenes snap that teases the danger ahead for the survivors in the special episode.
Briana Venskus, who plays Beatrice of Oceanside, shared a pic of herself and Melissa McBride (Carol) on set on her Instagram account. The image (see below) features the pair dressed in walker gore-splattered raincoats. While Venskus seems to be enjoying herself and cuddling up to her co-star, McBride appears to be a lot less pleased with the situation. Also note the photo-bombing zombie in the background.

The stars do sometimes take requests from fans and right now it’s likely that it has become a much easier thing to do since so many of them are on lock down along with everyone else. Briana Venskus from Agents of Shield took the time to entertain a fan, and likely many others, on Tik Tok while dressing herself up as her costars using only what she could find in her closet. She did a fairly good job finding enough articles of clothing really and given that she couldn’t use anything else it likely made the fans day given that

Showtime’s survival drama pilot “Yellowjackets” has added four more players to its cast.
Ava Allan (“Pretty Little Liars”), Courtney Eaton (“Line of Duty”) Briana Venskus (“Sorry for Your Loss”), and Liv Hewson (“Bombshell”), will all play recurring roles in the pilot, alongside series regulars Juliette Lewis, Christina Ricci, Melanie Lynskey, Tawny Cypress and Jasmin Savoy Brown.
“Yellowjackets,” described as equal parts survival epic, horror story and coming-of-age drama, tells the story of a team of talented high school girls soccer players who survive a plane crash deep in the Ontario wilderness. The series chronicles their descent from a complicated but thriving team to warring, cannibalistic clans, while at the same time tracking the lives they’ve attempted to piece back together nearly 25 years later.
Venskus will play Jessica Cruz, a reporter digging into the survivors’ past and trying to separate fact from fiction. Venskus’s other credits include “Nasvhille,...

The premise behind Then Came You is a tough sell. A hypochondriac attends a support group for people dying of cancer, befriends one said person, and helps her fulfill a demented bucket list while allowing her lack of boundaries to shove him into the arms of the woman he’s been too afraid to ask out. It’s a sort of rom-com spin on Fight Club‘s Jack and Marla getting off on others’ sorrow for the tween sect. There will be initial confusion at the film turning an incurable disease cutesy, disdain for its apparent use of death as an opportunistic avenue towards confidence, and revulsion in thinking the filmmakers might turn the tables and have their lead fall for the wildly eccentric girl who’ll be dead by the end.
Here’s the thing, though. While director Peter Hutchings and writer Fergal Rock have very much delivered the material that allows this weariness,...

It’s a little weird that there’s a multitude of films where teenagers fall in love, while at least one is sick. Usually, it’s cancer, though any terminal illness will do. These movies, largely based off of Young Adult books, run the gamut from cliched to heartbreaking. Beyond their Ya roots, however, they do hit on some of the things that make a cinematic romance work. In the case of Then Came You, the story doesn’t really trend any new ground, but the quirky chemistry of the leads help string things together. Though flawed, it ultimately charms its way into your good graces. The film is a romantic comedy centered on two individuals with very specific medial issues. Meeting at a support group, teenager cancer sufferer Skye (Maisie Williams), befriends Calvin (Asa Butterfield), an older teen who she thinks also has the terminal illness. However, the 19 year old is actually a hypochondriac,...

With the mid-season finale of “The Walking Dead” bowing this Sunday, it’s a perfect time to assess which characters are not long for this world. Though Season 9 has already rid us of Gregory (Xander Berkeley) and written off Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), the mid-season is often a bloody affair. And with characters discovering walkers who speak, and others being spied on from the woods, it’s clear a new dangerous enemy is about to make their on-screen debut. These are the characters most likely to fall prey to the new threat in “Evolution.”

Marvel's premiere TV team will return for Agents of Shield Season 7, but it will be the series' final outing on ABC.
Although its future was often in doubt season to season, Agents of Shield season 7 was a sure thing right from the start as ABC renewed the series for two shortened seasons shortly after the end of season five. Spoiler Alert: Do not keep reading if you have not seen Episode 3 of Season 9 of “The Walking Dead,” titled “Warning Signs”
“The Walking Dead” continued it’s strong forward momentum in Season 9, with this week’s episode continuing to show the deterioration of the fragile alliance that has been forged.
The episode opens with Justin (Zach McGowan)–the Savior who raised the ire of Daryl (Norman Reedus) in the first two episodes of the season–lying dead on the ground near a brick building. Soon, he reanimates as a walker and rises back to his feet.
The next morning, Rick (Andrew Lincoln) walks through Alexandria in the early morning and visits Carl’s grave. He leaves a freshly grown tomato from the community’s gardens near the grave as a sign of the future Carl helped inspire. Back at home, he and Michonne (Danai Gurira) talk about the bridge building project and her charter.

Agents of Shield season 6 is underway, and we've got the latest trailer, links to reviews, an episode guide, and the latest news.
Agents of Shield season 6 will be here very soon!
Last year, ABC announced that it would be renewing its flagship Marvel show for a sixth season of 13 episodes, rather than the usual 22-episode order it has gotten for previous seasons. The network has also renewed the show for a seventh season, but has not said if that will be the show's final outing. However, with the smaller episode order and the season 7 renewal being announced prior to the summer start of season 6, a wrap-up might be in store after a solid run.
But let's not get ahead of ourselves! Here's the latest about Agents of Shield season 6, including the latest review:

For those Stateside readers, we’re mere hours away from the premiere of Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 4 on ABC and with it, the unveiling of Gabriel Luna as Marvel’s lean, mean Ghost Rider.
Getting behind the fiery wheel as Robbie Reyes – a brilliant mechanic who harbors a deep and abiding love for engines and electronic music, hence the Dodge Charger – Luna is arguably the marquee attraction going into the fourth and potentially final season of Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D..
If this does indeed go down as the show’s swan song, we can surely look forward to plenty of fireworks, and today’s all-new promo – aptly titled “Watch Out” – teases the kind of piping hot drama that Marvel brass have been cooking up. But whereas previous incarnations of the character have viewed Ghost Rider as something of a burden, Luna told Collider about the ways...

Rather appropriately, Marvel Studios has revved up the ol’ marketing machine ahead of Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. fourth – and potentially final – season, with much of the promos designed to herald the arrival of Gabriel Luna’s Spirit of Vengeance, Ghost Rider.
Two days on from the full unveiling of Luna in costume as Robbie Reyes, we now have an extended promo for season 4’s premiere to share. From the flaming Dodge Charger to one victim chained up and awaiting Flame Head’s particular brand of Vengeance, the mere presence of Ghost Rider looks set to steer Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. toward darker territory – Marvel did promise an “edgier” and “grittier” take on the character, after all.

Season four of Marvel and ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is right around the corner, and hot on the fiery heels of Yahoo’s unveiling of Gabriel Luna’s Ghost Rider, anticipation is fast beginning to reach a fever-pitch. Lumping fuel on that fire, there’s also chatter that the fourth season of Agents could be its last, meaning that the Powers That Be over at Marvel and ABC will be gunning to engineer a sure-fire hit.
Ghost Rider ought to herald a strong start come September 20, but both parties involved are already thinking further afield, with a fresh batch of images previewing episode numero two, “Meet the New Boss.” It’s understood that said installment will herald a clash between Quake and Ghost Rider, though it appears Marvel is keeping that sequence behind closed doors until the time is right – i.e. somewhere between September 20 and September 27.

Five years on from the moment Nicolas Cage had a crack at the character of Johnny Blaze, Marvel has introduced its new take on the infamous Ghost Rider ahead of his imminent appearance in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D..
Those who have kept pace with Ghost Rider’s journey to ABC’s hit ensemble series will know fine well that Gabriel Luna is actually stepping into the fiery boots of Robbie Reyes – not Johnny Blaze – a Mexican-American character who supplanted Marvel’s iconic stunt driver in the comics two years ago.
Promising an “edgier” and “grittier” take on the hell-raiser, it goes some ways to explaining the overhauled look, too, with Luna’s anti-hero sporting some new duds along with a smoking hot Dodge Charger – how apropos as opposed to the ol’ flaming motorcycle. How exactly the creators plan to make Ghost Rider – a character teeming with...

Thanks to a brand spanking new official synopsis for Marvel's Agent's of S.H.I.E.L.D. we now know exactly when to expect to meet Robbie Reyes, aka Ghost Rider. And the wait won't be long.
When fans initially heard that the premiere of the fourth season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was titled "The Ghost," some thought it would have something to do with Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg). Turns out, that title has everything to do with Ghost Rider (Gabriel Luna), and it looks like the character is going to loom very large this season.
But that's not all. Included in the official synopsis for the new season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is some interesting casting news. We've known for some time that Robbie's brother Gabe will be an important part of the story, but we didn't know who'd be playing him. Turns out that ABC tapped Fear The Walking Dead...

Though he’s not actually in full flaming-skull mode just yet, the first batch of promotional images for the upcoming season 4 premiere of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. do provide us with a glimpse of Gabriel Luna (Matador, Wicked City) as Robbie Reyes, who we will see transform into the Spirit of Vengeance at some point.
The stills also feature Agents May (Ming-Na Wen) and Mackenzie (Henry Simmons), who will be heading up some kind of top secret “specialist strike teams”. This has led to speculation that S.H.I.E.L.D.’s counter-terrorist Special Mission Unit, S.T.R.I.K.E., might also be making their debut.

3.19 Failed Experiments
When a TV show is intercutting between a thrilling fight scene and a contemplative conversation between characters, and it’s the talking that grabs your attention the most, the show-runners must be doing something right. Such was the case in Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Failed Experiments, with Hive sharing blows with a Kree reaper while Mack shared some words with Daisy.
This was, for my money, one of the best sequences that Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. has ever produced. The combat was pleasantly brutal (it was very nice to have some actual Kree around to provide a physical challenge, even though one got his spine shattered and the other his face melted... yikes, this show is getting a lot more grown-up and graphic,...
