Exclusive: Mallory Bechtel (Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin) has landed a role opposite Paul Mescal, Ben Platt and Beanie Feldstein in Richard Linklater’s feature adaptation of Merrily We Roll Along, the classic musical from Stephen Sondheim and George Furth.
Details as to her role haven’t been disclosed.
Merrily follows Franklin Shepard, who after establishing himself as a talented composer of Broadway musicals, abandons his friends and songwriting career to become a producer of Hollywood movies. The story takes place over 20 years, and Linklater will shoot the film over the same time span, taking a page from his playbook on the Oscar-nominated Boyhood, shot over 12 years.
With a book by Furth and music and lyrics by Sondheim, the musical is based on the 1934 play of the same name by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart. It ran for 44 previews and 16 performances on Broadway in 1981 and recently returned to The Great White Way,...

There is no exit for American Psycho. Bret Easton Ellis‘ hilarious and grisly novel has hardly gathered dust since its 1991 publication, thanks to the shock and awe of the narrative, the ensuing cultural reaction, and, no doubt, Mary Harron‘s slick 2000 feature adaptation that re-introduced Christian Bale to a post-Newsies generation (and also nabbed him the cowl). Blame it on the dark humor, the ’80s nostalgia, or our predilection for primal indulgences, but Patrick Bateman remains one of the rare cultish enigmas of the 21st century. One that is seemingly impervious to memes, merch, and even a middling Dtv sequel.
But what about a musical? These days it’s perhaps no surprise that even Ellis isn’t immune to Broadway’s IP-driven pursuits. Yet there was admittedly a slight reluctance in seeing this particular story leap from page to stage. After all, the journey to celluloid alone was paved with...

Riverdale came to an end after seven seasons on the CW revealing that the show’s four main characters, Archie, Betty, Veronica and Jughead, ended up in a polyamorous foursome.
Viewers were able to witness each of the characters hook up with each other, including Betty and Veronica. However, Archie and Jughead were never seen experimenting which left some fans puzzled as to why this never occurred.
Now Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is opening up as to why Kj Apa’s Archie and Cole Sprouse’s Jughead were never seen hooking up.
“We did not shoot Kj and Cole hooking up,” Aguirre-Sacasa told TVLine in an interview. “We hadn’t even really laid even the barest seed of there being a romance between Archie and Jughead. Not even a whisper of that… We hadn’t really explored or even hinted at that, where we had with all the other couplings.

Riverdale’s series finale shocked viewers with the revelation that Archie, Betty, Jughead and Veronica had spent their senior year of high school in a polyamorous foursome. But one part of that foursome remained tantalizingly unresolved.
In flashbacks, we saw that Betty hooked up with Archie and with Jughead, Veronica hooked up with both boys as well, and Betty and Veronica experimented with each other, too. But what about Archie and Jughead? Fans demand to know: Was a passionate make-out session between stars Kj Apa (Archie) and Cole Sprouse (Jughead) left on the cutting room floor?

Riverdale spent its final season back in the 1950s, but it almost hopped its way through the rest of the 20th century, too.
“Originally, when we pitched the season,” showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa tells TVLine, “one of the ideas that we pitched was that the first 13 episodes would be in the ’50s, and then starting around Episode 14 or so, we would start moving in time. So Episode 14 would be set in the ’60s, Episode 15 would be set in the ’70s, and then the ’80s, the ’90s… kind of working through to the present day.”

Updated with correction in lawyer’s statement: A producer on Shudder’s Queer for Fear series has sued the streaming service, AMC Networks and executive producer Bryan Fuller for sexual harassment, a hostile work environment and retaliation. In response, a new suit for defamation and malicious prosecution could be coming soon, an attorney for Fuller says.
“Defendant Bryan Fuller cultivated and maintained a hostile work environment as a result of harassment, discrimination, sexual harassment, sexual assault and retaliation from the years 2020 to 2022,” alleges Sam Wineman in a graphic and explicit filing that hit the Los Angeles Superior Court docket yesterday.
“Mr. Fuller sexually assaulted plaintiff several times throughout the Steakhaus Production of Queer for Fear for AMC defendants and their streaming service Shudder,” Wineman and his Good Gustafson Aumais Llp and Atkins & Associates lawyers add in the September 28 dated complaint, which is seeking a jury trial.

Riverdale star Kj Apa says the show’s constant shirtless scenes with him “messed” him up.
The actor opened up about sometimes disagreeing with how his character Archie Andrews was sexualized throughout the series.
“I’ve been through a lot of s— with that. It can mess with your head a little bit,” he explained.
The New Zealand actor recounted how his original enthusiasm about shirtless scenes eventually turned into a stressor.
“At first, as a young child, which is what I was, I thought it was cool – you almost want the opportunity to be shirtless. I was like, ‘Yeah, let me take my shirt off. Boom!’ And then you gotta consistently stay in incredible shape. It takes a toll,” he explained to Variety.
He recalled times when he didn’t know how to advocate for himself regarding this dilemma.

In true Riverdale tradition, the final season of The CW drama was all over the place in both tone and subject matter. After six seasons spent in the present day, creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa sent Archie (Kj Apa) and the gang back to 1955 — and back to high school — where they navigated the rigid expectations set forth by Riverdale's adults and society at large. Storylines about a town-wide comic book ban and Archie's internal conflict over whether to pursue poetry or basketball played out alongside references to Emmett Till's murder and the Red Scare, creating exactly the kind of cognitive dissonance for which the show became known.

Spoiler Alert: This story contains spoilers from the series finale of “Riverdale,” which aired on The CW Wednesday, August 23.
The end of “Riverdale” has arrived — after seven seasons of milkshake-drinking, love triangles, crime- solving and one incredible bear attack. The CW’s teen drama-turned-supernatural phenom finally wrapped up on Wednesday night, but not before throwing in a few more major twists.
The finale, titled “Goodbye, Riverdale,” jumped ahead 67 years. Betty (Lili Reinhart) is in her 80s, and is the last remaining alive member of the Riverdale crew. The night before she dies, she gets a visit from the ghost of Jughead (Cole Sprouse), who takes her back to a day when she missed school, revisiting all of her friends and finding out what happened to them after high school. For a full breakdown of where everyone ended up and how they all died (!), read our full recap.

Hey, "Riverdale" fans. We hope you guys totally enjoyed the heck out of tonight's episode 20, especially since it was indeed the very last episode of Riverdale's current season 7 and for the series as a whole. That's right, guys. Season 7 is officially confirmed to be the very last season of Riverdale forever. Yep, according to the folks over at Deadline.com, season 7 was revealed to be the final season way back in May of 2022. During the announcement of season 7 being the final season, The CW's head honcho Mark Pedowitz made a positive statement about it saying, "Seven years is the right amount. I am a big believer of giving series that have had a long run an appropriate send-off. We had a long conversation with Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa yesterday and he is thrilled with the decision. It’s time to say goodbye to Riverdale, which ends its impressive seven-season run, aptly, with a series finale entitled “Goodbye, Riverdale.” Impressive because, well, the adaptation of the Archie Comics crew was a weird kid from the get-go: A mix of Twin Peaks, snark, ’50s-style gangs and teen-sex soap with a side of musical elements and a young cast of relative unknowns. Mostly CW fare, for sure, but strange enough to run the risk of being lost in the mix. However, thanks to the instant youthful alchemy of Kj Apa, Cole Sprouse, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, Madelaine Petsch, Vanessa Morgan, and Casey Cott, as well as the equally root-worthy adults played by Molly Ringwald, Mädchen Amick, the late Luke Perry, Skeet Ulrich, and Mark Consuelos, the show exploded and became a whole thing. It also helped that the project was cared for big time not just by series creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa,...

The Riverdale actor Kj Apa, who played Archie Andrews, confessed he wasn’t a massive fan of the show’s shirtless scenes and felt awkward during filming season 7.

Since 2017, the 26-year-old actor has portrayed Archie Andrews on the TV show, and he acknowledged that he frequently felt uneasy when filming naked sequences.
Riverdale included plenty of s*x, violence, a self-referential sense of humor, and n*de moments from series star Kj Apa while stealing from wholesome sources. Kj Apa felt uncomfortable with his “Riverdale” character being s*xualized.

As Riverdale comes to a close after seven seasons, Lili Reinhart and Camila Mendes are sharing their thoughts on The CW series constantly being mocked by fans on social media.
In an interview with Vulture, conducted before the actors strike, several castmembers looked back at their time on the Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa-created show, seven years and 135 episodes later, including what they won’t miss about it. Reinhart proceeded to admit that it wasn’t easy knowing that “our show is made fun of a lot.”
“People see clips taken out of context [on social media] and are like, ‘What? I thought this was about teenagers.’ And we thought so as well — in season one,” the actress said in the interview published online Tuesday. “But it’s really not been easy to feel that you’re the butt of a joke. We all want to be actors; we’re passionate about what we do.

Riverdale's final season has pushed its characters from their adult states back to a teenage facsimile -- only this time, they're stuck in the 1950s.
For some, the '50s were the reset they'd been hoping to see from Riverdale, which can offer fresh, campy storytelling. For others, Riverdale's foray into the '50s has fallen hopelessly flat.
Riverdale Season 5 starts with a seven-year time jump that aged all the characters from high school seniors to aimless twenty-somethings. Divulging in more mature plots and relationships that the high school years hadn't seen before, the time jump allowed the characters to continue to grow.
Riverdale Season 6 moved into the supernatural, with the season culminating in Riverdale Season 6 Episode 22, "Chapter One Hundred and Seventeen: The Night Of The Comet," wherein the residents of Riverdale were faced with a new kind of peril as a comet hurdled towards them, threatening to wipe them...

One of Riverdale‘s main cast members didn’t make the leap back to the 1950s… at least not yet.

Deadline reminds, “Kacavas’ Greg is Kelly’s (Mallory Bechtel) fun-loving boyfriend, who finds himself questioning his faith and values in the upcoming second season.”
Season 1 picked up 20 years after a series of tragic events almost ripped the blue-collar town of Millwood apart. Now, in present day, a disparate group of teen girls — a brand-new set of Little Liars — find themselves tormented by an unknown Assailant and made to pay for the secret sin committed by their parents two decades ago…as well as their own.

Exclusive: We’ll be seeing more of Greg in the next installment of Pretty Little Liars. Elias Kacavas, who heavily recurred as the character in Season 1 of Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin has been promoted to series regular for the second season of the HBO Max series, titled Pretty Little Liars: Summer School.
Kacavas’ Greg is Kelly’s (Mallory Bechtel) fun-loving boyfriend, who finds himself questioning his faith and values in the upcoming second season.
Created by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Lindsay Calhoon Bring, the new series debuted five years after the original Pretty Little Liars series ended, focusing on new characters in the new fictional town of Millwood, Pa and with multiple references to iconic horror movies (think Carrie and the original Halloween).

Spoiler Alert! This post contains details from the Season 7 premiere of The CW’s Riverdale.
It’s the beginning of the end for Riverdale. The series kicked off its final season on Wednesday, picking up where the last moments of Season 6 left off, after the characters were suddenly transported back in time to the 1950s right before Bailey’s comet decimated the town.
Archie, Betty, Jughead, Veronica and the rest of the gang are back in high school, in a decade that showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa says is “most associated with Archie Comics.” But while the season will certainly feel nostalgic, it also won’t shy away from the realities of the decade, Aguirre-Sacasa said.
“It would have been disingenuous to erase the real struggles and the real hardships that a lot of people in the 1950s faced, especially for our queer characters and our characters of color,” he told Deadline,...

"Riverdale" has garnered a widespread, loyal fan base since it first premiered in 2017, but The CW announced in May 2022 that the show's seventh season, which premieres on March 29, will be its last.
"Riverdale" is an original story based around the characters of the Archie Comics and follows a group of teenagers as they navigate the mysteries and evil forces in their hometown of Riverdale after a murder takes place. The show is led by the now-iconic cast, including Kj Apa, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, and Cole Sprouse. It's filled with thrills, complicated stories, and superhero powers that have kept viewers coming back season after season. As heartbreaking as it is for fans to say goodbye to the beloved show after seven seasons, the reason for its end is as good as any reason could be. Here's everything we know about why "Riverdale" is ending.

To find inspiration for Riverdale‘s future, the show’s writers looked back to the past.
When the CW drama returns for its seventh and final season this Wednesday (9/8c), it’ll take its boldest storytelling leap yet (and that’s saying something): Archie and the gang have been zapped back to the gee-whiz 1950s and are juniors in high school again, with no one having any memory of their former lives. (Well, no one except Jughead.) It brings Riverdale back to the world of the classic Archie comics, with jukeboxes and sock hops, and it allows the long-running...

This might be controversial for me to say, but "Riverdale" is going to go down as the most misunderstood show in television history. The CW series may be the campiest media of all time, but most of the people who would love this sort of show have written it off as a silly teen soap. What started as a murder mystery tribute to "Twin Peaks" has since unraveled into interacting alternate universes and supernatural forces. The series has had one clear thesis from the very beginning: to constantly one-up the absurdity. It wouldn't be fun unless it was disguised as another tween drama, but I'm here to prove once and for all that every brushstroke of the masterpiece that is "Riverdale" is 100% intentional tongue-in-cheek camp.

Fangbangers everywhere, undo the clasps on your beaded chokers, un-smudge the thick ring of kohl around your eyes, and close the lid on your coffin for (probably) the last time. HBO will no longer bring "True Blood" back to screens in rebooted form. The news came down the pike this week from Variety, who reported the project's cancelation directly from the source. Casey Bloys, CEO of content at HBO and HBO Max, told the outlet that there were repeated attempts to kick something off with several scripts, "but nothing that felt like it got there."
Loose plans for a reboot were originally reported in 2020. "Riverdale" and "The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa was attached from the beginning, which was an incredible vote of confidence for the property. Especially on "Riverdale," Aguirre-Sacasa has been getting away with darker, stranger, and more audacious things on broadcast television than you can...
