After a blockbuster debut in 2022, the London Action Festival is set to return this summer for its second edition.
The festival is timed to be squarely in the middle of the summer action movie season. This summer will see the release of “Fast X,” “Kandahar,” “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts,” “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” and “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning – Part One” in the May-July time frame and the festival will unspool June 21-25.

Former Prescience exec [pictured left] will head up Redeeming Features Capital.
UK company Redeeming Features has hired Lee Vandermolen to head up its financing arm Redeeming Features Capital.
Former Prescience exec Vandermolen has deployed more than $75m in financing across feature and TV projects including Sin City 2, Chef and Kilo 2 Bravo. He will work alongside Redeeming Features principals Nathanael Wiseman and Jezz Vernon, who are attending this week’s Efm.
The company launched in 2016 and has been bolstering its team over the last twelve months. It also operates a Scandinavian branch based in Oslo.
In December 2016, Wiseman bought an 80% stake in Port Royal, the production and consultancy venture set up by ex-Metrodome MD Vernon, who joined Redeeming as co-ceo.

Metro International head of sales Natalie Brenner has licensed Us and Canadian rights to Toronto-based Search Engine in a deal with president John Bain that will see the Canadian distributor make its first foray into the Us market, where it will release in conjunction with Honora Productions.

Landmine drama Kajaki. The True Story is extending its run in cinemas across the UK following an agreement with Cineworld Cinemas.
The exhibitor will screen the film at 20 cinemas from Jan 9 and will host a special screening on Jan 11 at Cineworld Aldershot – the “home” of the British Army – attended by the filmmakers, cast and a number of the veterans whose story the film tells.
“I’m thrilled that we are able to bring Kajaki to Cineworld Cinemas to ensure it has the opportunity it deserves to play across the UK with the number one circuit,” said Andreas Vass, head of film programming at Cineworld Cinemas.

Afghan war film Kajaki: The True Story is to expand its theatrical run to Odeon, Showcase and other venues following an exclusive two-week booking at Vue Cinemas.
Odeon will show the film at 17 cinemas from Friday 12 December, following a regional premiere at Odeon Colchester - the hometown of both the Parachute Regiment and of Stu Pearson, one of the veterans depicted in the film.
Showcase will show the film at six of their cinemas, with Kino Hawkhurst also opening the film on December 12.
Vue Cinemas have also committed to show the film for a third week, with other independent UK exhibitors in discussion to take the film.
The film took £55,000 from 81 Vue cinemas on its first weekend (however only 34 venues played it across all showtimes) and stood at £116,018 as of December 7.
