Ethan Hawke goes back behind the camera for Wildcat, and here are details of his new film – plus a trailer.
Ethan Hawke is better known as an actor than a director, with a prolific career that has included many collaborations with Richard Linklater – the sublime Before trilogy, Tape, The Newton Boys and Boyhood stand tall. Plus, films as diverse as Dead Poet’s Society, Training Day, The Purge, Predestination and Lord Of War – the sequel to the latter is currently in development, with writer and director Andrew Niccol and star Nicholas Cage on board. It has not been confirmed if Hawke will appear.
However, he has also steadily built up an impressive career behind the camera. Besides co-writing the last two Before films with Linklater and Julie Delpy, he has directed several documentaries and three feature films – Chelsea Walls in 1999, The Hottest State, adapted from his own novel in 2006, and...

While he’s obviously famous for his celebrated acting career, Ethan Hawke is still a notable writer/director, as well as an author, stage actor, and more. Having just finished up the docuseries, “The Last Movie Stars,” in 2022, Hawke’s latest narrative directorial effort is “Wildcat,” based on the short stories of writer Flannery O’Connor. The period film set during the 1950s stars his daughter Maya Hawke (“Asteroid City”) as O’Connor with a supporting cast that consists of Laura Linney (“Ozark”), Steve Zahn (“8-Bit Christmas”), Vincent D’Onofrio (“Full Metal Jacket”), Cooper Hoffman (“Licorice Pizza”), Rafael Casal (“Blindspotting”), Phillip Ettinger, and Levon Hawke.

Maya Hawke stars as Flannery O’Connor, the celebrated author of Southern Gothic-inspired short stories, novels, and essays, in Wildcat.
The film, directed and co-written by Hawke’s father, Ethan Hawke, follows a 24 year-old Flannery in 1950s Georgia as she deals with a lupus diagnosis. She returns home to her mother, Regina (Laura Linney), and begins writing some of her most imaginative stories as she attempts to heal her relationship with her mom.
Throughout, the film offers fictionalized adaptations of several of Flannery’s most beloved short stories, which include cast members Rafael Casal, Cooper Hoffman, and Steve Zahn. Also appearing in Wildcat are Liam Neeson, Vincent D’Onofrio, Alessandro Nivola, Christine Dye, Willa Fitzgerald, and Ethan Hawke’s son, Levon Hawke. Watch the trailer for Wildcat below.
The film, which premiered at Colorado’s Telluride Film Festival in September 2023, is co-written by one of Hawke’s frequent theater collaborators, Shelby Gaines.

The disaster film Twister (watch it Here) was a massive success for Warner Bros., Universal Pictures, and Amblin Entertainment when it was released during the summer movie season in 1996. Made on a budget of $90 million, it earned almost $500 million at the global box office and ranked as the tenth highest-grossing film of all time. Quickly cashing in with a sequel would have made a lot of sense. But while there were rumors – including a memorable one that said the sequel would involve a tornado hitting a major city – a follow-up never made it into production. Until now. Universal and Amblin are reviving the Twister IP with a film called Twisters, which is set to receive a theatrical release on July 19, 2024. Twenty-eight years later, will it be able to replicate or surpass the success of its predecessor? We’ll have to wait and see. But for know, we’re going to...

All anybody wants to talk about these days is flooding, winter vortexes, and other natural disasters stemming from the ongoing climate crisis. Well, apparently, the tornado from "Twister" got wind of this (I'm sorry) and is back with a vengeance in the newly unveiled Super Bowl trailer for "Twisters."
Neither a direct follow-up to director Jan de Bont's 1996 natural disaster thriller nor a complete reboot of the franchise, "Twisters" follows a new team of storm chasers as they battle destructive cyclones in the present day. Apparently, at one point, "Twister" star Helen Hunt and "Blindspotting" co-writers/co-stars Daveed Diggs and Rafael Casal pitched a proper legacy sequel that, according to Hunt, would've focused on "all Black and Brown storm chasers." However, the studio powers that be didn't go for it for "potentially shady" reasons, as Diggs told Business Insider last year.

Twenty-seven years after the release of the blockbuster disaster film Twister (watch it Here), Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment have finally put a follow-up on the fast track to release – but they’re not calling it a sequel. Scheduled to receive a theatrical release on July 19, 2024, Twisters has been described as a “new chapter” in what is about to become a franchise… and during an interview with Vogue, cast member Glen Powell – who can currently be seen on the big screen in the romantic comedy Anyone but You – confirmed that the film tells a standalone story. But even without any connection to the original film, he believes that it’s something that will be able to connect to everyone around the world.
Powell told Vogue (with thanks to Deadline for sharing the text) that Twisters is “definitely not a reboot. We’re not trying to recreate the story from the first one.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Loki, Season 2 Episode 6, “Glorious Purpose.”] Loki‘s second season may have paved a solitary path for the God by the finale (at least for now), but it opened a door of possibilities for Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino), the Goddess of Mischief. After jumping from apocalypse to apocalypse to evade the Tva’s capture, the “variant” finally found some brief peace after killing He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors) at the end of Season 1, working at a 1980s McDonalds out of Broxton, Oklahoma — until Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Mobius (Owen Wilson) come looking for her with prisoner Brad (Rafael Casal) in tow. This sweeps Sylvie up in the action as she’s compelled to combat the threat of He Who Remains variants and maintain the free will she meant to grace the multiverse with. Unfortunately, her choice in Season 1 doomed the infinitely expanding branched timelines. Ultimately, Loki decides to take on the...

But there’s one Loki villain who might just have them all beat – the sentient A.I. clock we all know as Miss Minutes (Tara Strong).

With two episodes left of “Loki” Season 2, the mid-season trailer hints that all is not yet lost after that Episode 4 ending.
Ke Huy Quan’s “O.B.” Ouroboros kicks off the clip by asking Loki how much he knows.
“Let’s assume I didn’t know much, but I’m a fast learner, and I’m a god,” Tom Hiddleston’s titular character replies.
Following the unfortunate death of Kang variant Victor Timely (Jonathan Majors) in Episode 4 and the rest of the time twist crew being engulfed by the exploding time loom, the mid-season trailer makes it look like they can still come back from this.
“All of existence is in grave danger,” Loki says over a montage of his getting engulfed by the time loom’s destruction and spit out at a rental equipment facility in front of a yellow inflatable air dancer. “The Tva is gone.”

Loki Season 2 Episode 4
“I promise you this will make sense.” Loki says those words to Sylvie, who just watched him prune another Loki in front of her. But Tom Hiddleston delivers the lines directly at the camera, as if speaking directly to the viewers.
And it is a necessary word of comfort, because Loki season two blows things up in a big way, perhaps even more so than the season one finale. Written by Eric Martin and Kathryn Blair and directed by showrunners Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson, “Heart of the Tva” features a lot of running around and shouting technobabble, but it feels more earned than the other times its happened in the previous two episodes.
Even before Victor Timely moves toward the temporal loom and promptly explodes (“Time to recast Kang?” many internet commenters wondered at once), there’s a sense of finality to the episode,...

For 30 years, Dan Deleeuw has worked in visual effects, from “The Mask” to “Armageddon” to “Night at the Museum” — but he always had a dream that one day, he might get to direct. That opportunity finally arrived in 2019, when “Avengers: Endgame” directors Joe and Anthony Russo — who’d worked with Deleeuw on VFX for their three previous Marvel Studios productions — hired him to shoot some additional photography for the behemoth production. Actor Tom Hiddleston is making his return as Loki in the second season of his eponymous show ‘Loki S2’. This time, the Norse God of Mischief has found himself a new family with the Time Variance Authority (Tva).
Speaking on this, the ‘Crimson Peak’ actor said: “One of the things we talked about is how Loki always struggled with family in the MCU, but he’s found a new family in the Tva, and he’s found, in its breakdown, an understanding of himself.”
He further added: “Having his sense of self opened up, broken down, and rebuilt by Mobius and his colleagues at the Tva, and also his connection with Sylvie, there’s a new capacity, a new awareness to make connections with other people.”
“He realises that those connections are all that matter in the end, and they’re connections that he wants to preserve. But now the stakes are higher.

Loki season two continues to drop Easter eggs left, right, and center, but in its second episode the show happily climbs aboard Marvel’s “running gag” bandwagon by throwing in a visual reference to one of the MCU’s most divisive movies: Eternals.
During the opening scene of this week’s Loki, the God of Mischief and his Tva analyst Bff Mobius (Owen Wilson) travel back in time to capture the slimy Brad Wolfe (Rafael Casal), a Tva hunter and variant who has absconded to a past point on the Sacred Timeline to build the life he never got to have as a 70s movie star.
At the premiere of his latest film, Zaniac, Loki and Mobius roll up to the red carpet, but not before passing a range of posters advertizing upcoming feature presentations, one of which happens to star Kumail Nanjiani’s Bollywood actor Kingo from Eternals!

Warning: This article contains spoilers for the latest episode of "Loki."
Who figured that an episode beginning with the impossibly silly visuals of a Time Variance Authority agent, Hunter X-5 (Rafael Casal), living it up on the Sacred Timeline as a world-famous actor in a "Zaniac" movie would end on the incredibly dark note of countless innocent universes -- pretty much all the ones that were created in the wake of Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Sylvie's (Sophia Di Martino) actions in the "Loki" season 1 finale -- wiped out of existence? The unfathomable death toll can only be remarked upon in hushed tones, specifically by Hunter B-15 (Wunmi Mosaku) as she and the rest of the cast helplessly mourn the loss of all those individuals. "Those are people," she chokes out. "Those are lives."

Chaos unraveled within the Time Variance Authority (Tva) in the season 2 premiere of "Loki," where the titular variant (played by Tom Hiddleston) found himself torn between various points in time after He Who Remains is killed by Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino). After this Time Slippage issue is resolved, thanks to a trip to a space station-esque nexus called the Temporal Loom, Loki tries his best to convince everyone about the impending doom that awaits every timeline, sacred or branched. This aberration in the flow of events disrupts the very foundation of the Tva, introducing fresh doubts in every Tva "employee," now acutely aware of their variant status.
Some Hunters at the Tva, including B-15 (Wunmi Mosaku) and X-5 (Rafael Casal) express their inner turmoil caused by this revelation, stressing that this "changes everything," as every individual used to have...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Loki, Season 2, Episode 2.] The new season of Loki continues to keep the clock ticking as the titular God of Mischief (played by Tom Hiddleston) and Tva agent Mobius (Owen Wilson) attempt to manage the sacred timeline’s extreme branching. Setting out to find Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino), the duo headed to 1970s London in order to confront Hunter X-5 (Rafael Casal), who followed General Dox (Kate Dickie) in the Season 2 premiere. Believing he’ll have answers about Sylvie’s whereabouts, Mobius and Loki bring the rogue hunter back to the Tva for questioning, placing him in a holding cell. While Loki and Mobius try decoding alterations X-5 — now going by the name Brad Wolfe — made to his TemPad, they’re forced to initiate a tense negotiation session in search of answers. While Loki isn’t shy about getting in Brad’s face, embracing the villainous vibe the prisoner thinks suits...

This post contains spoilers for "Loki" season 2, episode 2.
In the first season of the Marvel Disney+ series "Loki," we learned that Time Variance Authority (Tva) analyst Mobius M. Mobius (Owen Wilson) loved jet skis. We also learned, of course, that the agents and hunters from the Tva were all variants taken from their real lives to work there, with their memories erased.
Everyone has reacted differently after Loki (Tom Hiddleston), Mobius, and Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) broke the façade wide open. B-15 (Wunmi Mosaku) is angry and sad about what she's lost. And X-5, aka Brad Wolfe (Rafael Casal), has gone off to be an actor starring in the film "Zaniac." Mobius, however, is insistent that he doesn't need to know about his old life. He's fine where he is and loves his job. Whatever happened before just isn't important to him. Or is it?

Loki and Mobius hit the darkened streets of the Sacred Timeline in episode two of Marvel’s Loki, as they attempt to track down Sylvie by tracing the movements of a Tva deserter.
X-5 (rapper and Blindspotting star Rafael Casal) has made quite the life for himself on Earth in the 1970s as Hollywood A-lister Brad Wolfe, and it’s one that he really doesn’t want to give up, so Mobius and Loki have to give chase like proper magic time cops at the premiere of his new movie, Zaniac.
Also refreshing is Casal as the arrogant X-5 aka Brad, and his “mummy’s boy” attitude makes him supremely punchable. When Loki and Mobius finally haul his ass back to the Tva, it creates an interesting dynamic in the interrogation room. Mobius assumes that the sneering, entitled X-5 will easily be able to push Loki’s buttons,...

"Loki" is back this week, and along with the return of Norse trickster god Loki (Tom Hiddleston), agent Mobius (Owen Wilson), and the rest of the Time Variance Authority, the show's premiere also sees the introduction of a few new key characters. Among them? Ke Huy Quan's helpful, tech-savvy Ouroboros (or O.B.) and X-5, a mysterious new Tva agent played by Rafael Casal. And it's the latter who is particularly intriguing.
So far, we haven't seen X-5 do much besides question whether jet skis are part of the sacred timeline, but the character already seems to be an agitating force within the organization. He's also quite possibly poised to become a recognizable Marvel villain. After all, a featurette for the second season had a couple bits of footage from behind the scenes that showed him in a Tva jumpsuit,...

The town in which I attended college was annoyingly devoid of a robust selection of hangout and restaurant spots. As such, the local McDonald's became a destination, especially as it was one of the few places in town open late. After one particular night of partying, I ended up at this McD's with a buddy of mine, who excitedly told me about how he and his friends loved to undergo something called "The Gauntlet" when attending a McDonald's on special occasions. When I inquired what this "Gauntlet" was, he explained how it involved ordering every single Extra Value Meal on the menu and consuming them all — in order.
While I was a little repulsed at that proposal, it's entirely possible that "The Gauntlet" is not just a notion relegated to my college chum, nor even the planet Earth, as evidenced by the post-credits scene...

If there is one constant in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it is that Kevin Feige and the powers that be never let fans go too long without a visit from the devilishly charming God of Mischief. Since then, we’ve seen Peter Parker (Tom Holland) recreate the famous multiple Spider-Man meme, Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) traverse the multiverse to defeat Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Majors portray a Kang variant known for conquering the Quantum Realm in “Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania.”

It's not out of line to wonder whether we've hit an inflection point in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. How many times can a franchise dangle that tantalizing football in front of its fans, coax countless viewers to build up a full head of steam in the hopes of having their sky-high expectations met again and again, and then snatch that prize away right at the last second? Recent history suggests that a shared universe built primarily on the promise of the next big thing to come does, in fact, have an expiration date -- or, at the very least, a moment of truth where over a decade of goodwill finally threatens to run out. After a series of low points poked several glaring holes in the McU's once-impenetrable armor, from divisive entries like "Eternals" and "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" to unmistakable misfires such as "Thor: Love and Thunder,...

In Doctor Who, the phrase “wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff” has become synonymous with both the nature of time itself — short version: time is a nonlinear mess — and how woefully inadequate our layperson’s vocabulary is when it comes to blathering about time.
Whether you generally understand the intricacies of time and time travel but can’t formally express them, or your head immediately starts to explode the second somebody mentions killing Baby Hitler, it’s simpler to attribute temporal circumstances to “wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff” than pretend you’re Neil deGrasse Tyson.
The handiness of the phrase came to mind more than a few times while I watched the second season of Disney+’s Loki, on which the creative team has absolutely succeeded in using Marvel’s money to make a wildly expensive season of Doctor Who featuring Tom Hiddleston as the Doctor. Kevin Feige made an appearance at the Loki Season 2 launch event in Hollywood where fans got to see the first two episodes.
The Marvel head addressed the audience in attendance and mentioned the actors’ absence as the SAG-AFTRA strike continued.
“Obviously our cast is not here tonight,” Feige said. “But let me tell you something, they all worked so hard, they loved it so much. Our star Tom Hiddleston is not just our star and our Loki for the past 12 years, he’s one of our executive producers and he’s incredible and this show wouldn’t happen without him.”
Loki Season 2 picks up in the aftermath of the shocking season finale when Loki finds himself in a battle for the soul of the Time Variance Authority. Along with Mobius, Hunter B-15 and a team of new and returning characters, Loki navigates an ever-expanding and increasingly dangerous multiverse in search of Sylvie,...

Of the eight live-action TV shows that Marvel Studios has produced for Disney+ to date, only one has concluded with the explicit promise of a second season: That would be “Loki,” the outrageously entertaining series about Tom Hiddleston’s god of mischief and his metaphysical exploits in the Time Variance Authority.
It turns out, those plans were already in the works before a second of “Loki” had ever streamed. As executive producer Kevin Wright explains to Variety, he and Hiddleston began talking about Season 2 of the show while in production on the third episode of Season 1.
“As we were shooting the ‘Lamentis’ episode, Tom and I started having lots of conversations about how this world could build out, how we dive deeper into it,” he says. “A large part of what we wanted to do was not trying to repeat ourselves, and not try to play the hits.” At the same time,...

"He's a character the audience will be inspired by." "Ke is easy to be on set with, he keeps happy, chirpy!" Tom Hiddleston returns as the God of Mischief for more time fun, with Sophia Di Martino (Sylvie), Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Renslayer), Wunmi Mosaku, Eugene Cordero, Tara Strong (Miss Minutes), Neil Ellice, Jonathan Majors (Victor Timely), and Owen Wilson (Mobius...
