In the 1950s, Batman was transformed into a variety of beings or wore a colorful assortment of costumes to goose sales. Thankfully, that silliness was retired with the New Look and wasn’t resurrected until the Elseworlds what if stories of the 1990s. That same approach has now crept from the page to the screen with Batman Ninja, out now on DVD from Warner Home Entertainment.
This anime-style adventure comes from director Junpei Mizusaki, (producer of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure), working from a script by Kazuki Nakashima and character designs from Takashi Okazaki (Afro Samurai). As a result, it comes with a strong pedigree for the creative approach.
Rather than a posit an ancient Japan that needed a protector styled in the form of a bat, this gonzo story actually takes the heroes and villains of Gotham City and transports them into the past. It’s weird, wild, wacky and...

If you’re an avid comic book reader, you’ll no doubt be making it a priority this Wednesday to pick up a copy of Rebirth #1, an issue which sets up the future of the DC Universe as Geoff Johns takes a step back as a writer of monthly comics in order to focus on both being the publisher’s Chief Content Officer, and act as one of the heads of the DC Films division.

It was recently announced that Geoff Johns would be one of two people heading the new Warner Bros. DC Films division, but what his new role entailed remained a mystery. Well, it's not a mystery anymore. Geoff Johns recently spoke to Comicbook.com, explaining his new role within DC Entertainment. "My job is to help other Warner Brothers divisions work with DC. I work with Warner TV and producers to get these shows up and running, in particular with The Flash, where I co-created the show, wrote a few episodes, wrote the pilot episode," explained the new co-head of DC Films. Following on from the success of the "Batman: Arkham" video game series, Warner Bros. Interactive VP Ames Kirshen confirms that other DC Comics video games are in the works that will explore beyond the world of Batman.
Speaking about what's coming next for WB Interactive with the Official PlayStation Blog, he says:
"When choosing what DC Entertainment IP we might focus on for any game, it boils down to honing in on the IPs that map the strongest, genre-wise, to what fans are interested in seeing and playing.
From there, it's about getting the development studios with the strongest passion for those IPs to make the games... It can be hard to choose what [DC characters] to focus on."
Asked if we might see another "Batman" game down the line:
"We don't have anything to talk about at this time, but the possibilities are endless with a character as dynamic and beloved as Batman.

Rocksteady has ended their long adventure with the Arkham series for Batman, but WB Interactive is still lookng for ways to continue the characters success.
Via the PlayStation Blog, Ames Kirshen (Oversees DC titles development) stated that the studio is never finished with a character as succesful as Batman.
He notes that Batman is a cornerstone of WB Games, but that isn't the only character they will focus on. Obviously the success of the Arkham series makes that true.

Yet when asked about when we may see Batman again, there isn't a clear answer of when.

Injustice: Gods Among Us is now available with new Dlc arriving on May 7. We recently discussed with writer Jimmy Palmiotti the game’s dark storyline and the rising popularity of superheroes in media.
Amanda Dyar: You have worked on several amazing projects which include Jonah Hex, Daredevil, Deadpool, and Ghost Rider to name a few. How did you get started in comics, and what are you most proud of today?
Jimmy Palmiotti: I went to the High School of Art & Design in NYC and then after eight years in advertising decided I wanted to change my path and went back to my first love--comic books. I started doing backgrounds for a buddy, Mark Texeria, while drawing and inking some black and white indie books. Eventually I got some decent jobs at Marvel Comics and a few years later met and teamed up to self-publish with Joe Quesada and created EVeNT Comics.
