Peter Jackson’s “Lord of the Rings” trilogy still has a lot of aging to do before it catches up to Bilbo Baggins (Ian Holm) — recall that the hobbit is celebrating his 110th birthday with the long-expected party that makes up the early beats of “The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.” But as each entry in the series reaches its 20th anniversary — “Fellowship” last year, “The Two Towers” this year, and “The Return of the King” in 2023 — it’s worth reflecting on more than the shadow of the past of the films themselves. Or more than their theatrical cuts, at least.
A month prior to the premiere of “The Two Towers,” New Line Home Video unveiled the “extended edition” of “Fellowship of the Ring,” with 30 minutes of additional footage spread across six new and 20 expanded sequences. The DVD box set’s packaging resembled a well-worn tome bound in green leather,...

Ej thinks he's got Ava cornered. Mike Horton had it out with Nancy. Chad and Stephanie kissed, while Allie pushed to have a threeway with Chanel and Alex this week in Salem.
Our TV Fanatics, Jack and Christine, are joined by LumiForeverAndAlways from MyHourglass, a Days of Our Lives fan forum, to debate if Ava will come clean, if a threeway is a good idea, where Chad and Stephanie are heading, and more!
Will Ava come clean, throw Gabi under the bus, or come up with a story for Ej about why the marriage license appears to be forged?
LumiForeverAndAlways: I feel like Ava may come up with a story about why the marriage is forged and then may use it against Gabi. That's an Ava kind of thing.
Jack: I don't understand why anyone should believe Ej's story. The handwriting expert is not there; for all Ava knows, he...

Welcome home, Mike!
He hasn't been in Salem since Alice's funeral in 2010, but Mike Horton is finally coming home on Days of Our Lives during the week of 10-03-22.
It's only a short visit, but we'll take what we can get.
Mike's return is long overdue. He and Jennifer settled Laura's estate off-screen, but it would have been a compelling story if the two of them had done it in front of the audience.
His return now should be equally emotional, as he's in town to help get Jennifer into drug rehab.
View Slideshow: Days of Our Lives Classic Couple Spotlight: Jack and Jennifer
Mike and Jennifer have always been close, but Jennifer is likely to be embarrassed that he knows about her problem at all. Maybe he'll give her some needed encouragement before she leaves.
It would be nice if he stuck around to help out at the hospital while Kayla is incapacitated,...

Ken Corday wasn't kidding when he promised this wouldn't be "your mother's Days of Our Lives."
Spoilers for fall in Salem are here as the Peacock era of the series begins, and if the show is as good as the video, you won't want to miss a minute.
Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 9-12-22 and beyond promise some exciting returns, some romance and intrigue, and some heartbreaking tragedy.
Streaming may be the way of the future, but Days of Our Lives appears to resemble the golden years of the 1980s more now that it's moved to Peacock.
Everything seems bigger. More romance, more over-the-top drama, and more supervillains wreaking havoc.

Although it's not the most significant part of the video, one of the most exciting bits of news is that Mike Horton is returning to Salem!

Spring may be the season of love, but not everyone's happy.
Spoilers for Days of Our Lives during the week of 3-28-22 suggest plenty of kissing and other romantic activities.
But drama and heartbreak are always lurking right around the corner. Read on to find out who's hooking up and who's causing trouble for lovebirds!
Unsurprisingly, Rafe/Nicole and Brady/Chloe are both featured heavily in the Days of Our Lives spoiler video.
Rafe and Nicole were about to take a bath together when we left off. From spoilers, it appears they're taking their champagne with them.
We can expect some substantial payoff for the months these two spent fighting their feelings for each other, which is good news for Rafe/Nicole shippers.
But don't expect it to all be smooth sailing. Ava is still lurking around plotting revenge, after all. And according to a clip in the spoiler video,...

Kayla was fired. Chad made Belle his scapegoat. Tony agreed to move in with Sarah/Renee, and Ben and Ciara planned a gender reveal party on Days of Our Lives.
Our TV Fanatics, Jack and Christine, are joined by Silvananoir from MyHourglass, a Days of Our Lives fan forum, to debate whether Craig stole Kayla's job, Sonny's obsession with taking down Leo, if Anna is being insensitive, and Chad framing Belle, and more!
Was the Board being unreasonable in firing Marlena? Should Kayla have lost her job for refusing to fire Marlena? And was Kayla correct when she accused Craig of "stealing" her job?
Silvananoir: There were honestly a bunch of times on this show that both should have been fired. In this case, Marlena does deserve it from the Board's perspective. At the very least, she should be put on administrative leave at the hospital.

Hang on tight. Things are about to get super wild!
Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 3-21-22 involve exorcising a non-possessed person, a bizarre plan to break up Craig and Leo, and more.
We're in camp territory here, but could some twists be coming up?
According to the spoiler video, the board's plan to have Kayla fire Marlena will backfire. Instead, Kayla may be the one losing her job!
Is this because of Leo's machinations? It's hard to tell, but it would be a massive coincidence if Kayla were pushed out naturally right after Leo suggested Craig take her job.
I don't like the idea of Craig scheming on Leo's say-so, but I can't say I feel sorry for Kayla either. She's been doing a horrible job lately, and she deserves to be taken down a peg or two.
Of course, if Craig goes along with this,...

Chloe doesn't know a lost cause when she sees one.
Her father insists that con artist Leo is a heroic figure whom he admires for being openly gay despite being abused. He thinks Leo is Sonny and Will's victim instead of the other way around. And if all else fails, he falls back on saying that Leo has changed since he did those things.
On Days of Our Lives during the week of 3-07-22, Chloe's efforts to open Craig's eyes blew up in her face, pushing Leo and Craig closer together. But instead of realizing that she can't make her father see the light, she's doubling down on her efforts to break him and Leo up.
Trying to talk someone out of a relationship rarely works. If anything, it strengthens their resolve to stay with this person forever.
Plus, Leo is a master manipulator. He knows that Craig is...

Sarah returned to Salem, wreaking havoc as Renee. The truth came out about Allie's fling with Chanel at the worst possible moment. And Chloe met Craig's new love this week in Salem.
Our TV Fanatics, Jack and Christine, are joined by Mikey from MyHourglass a Days of Our Lives fan forum to debate everyone's reaction to Sarah, if Tripp should forgive Allie, should Leo be accepted, if Tr deserves a second chance, and more!
Tony, Anna, Steve, and Kayla had different reactions to Sarah's delusions. Did any of them do the right thing?
Mikey: Not a single one of them. Kayla briefly tried something resembling the proper course of action, but not notifying Maggie was insane.
Allowing Steve to be involved in Sarah's care is both a violation of her rights and just flat-out absurd. You'd think it would be easier to get a court order to hold Sarah for...

Days of Our Lives may be on hiatus due to the Olympics, but that doesn't mean we don't have questions about the happenings in Salem.
Our TV Fanatic, Jack, is joined by Kpatch, DoolFan4Life, and André Dimera from MyHourglass, a Days of Our Lives fan forum to debate which child of a legacy character should return, who has the best friendship, which Salemite they'd switch lives with for a day, and more!
Is there a legacy character's child currently not in Salem that you'd like to see return?
Kpatch: Mike Horton for sure. Three different actors have played him, and I've loved them all.
Also, Stephanie Johnson. She's not a favorite, but I think there's a lot they could do with her. She had the ability to straddle between good and evil. She was like Gabi with a conscience.
