Alongside the sharp direction from Mohamed Diab, Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, Moon Knight stands out as one of the stronger MCU Disney+ shows. Depicting versatile actor Oscar Isaac in a fascinating dual-personality role juggling between two worlds of Marc Spector and Steven Grant, this series pulled the viewer’s heartstrings in six episodes. However, this compelling adventure has not been continued despite its massive success and eight Emmy nominations.
Oscar Isaac plays a man who suffers from Did in Moon Knight
But fans who have grown attached to the Khonshu avatar are not willing to let go just yet. They are fervently calling for the renewal of the show, especially after witnessing Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye getting renewed for another season. It seems Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios may need to reconsider his decision regarding the show after seeing this.

Renowned for their outstanding storytelling and innovative gameplay mechanics, these games have paved the way for other similar franchises. With that said, Kojima finally shared his thoughts on Moon Knight as the series struggles to get season 2.

Oscar Isaac’s portrayal of Moon Knight in the MCU stood out as one of the more intriguing shows, delving into new characters. Director Mohamed Diab got started working on dramas, making his feature debut with the 2010 film Cairo 678, about “three women and their search for justice from the daily plight of sexual harassment in Egypt.” That was followed by the 2016 film Clash, which takes place entirely inside a police van and shows what happens when “a number of detainees from different political and social backgrounds are brought together by fate”. In 2021, he made Amira, which showed that a “girl’s world is turned upside down when she learns the man she grew up idolizing is not her real father.” Then he shifted gears, directing four of the six episodes that made up the Marvel / Disney+ series Moon Knight. And now Deadline reports that Diab has signed on to direct a sci-fi thriller called Leap.

Director Mohamed Diab is no stranger to mind-bending sci-fi, having helmed last year’s Marvel series “Moon Knight.” Deadline reports that the filmmaker will next tackle Leap, a high concept thriller that traps passengers of a high speed train in a time loop.
The sci-fi thriller is penned by writer Ben Ripley and produced by The Picture Company.
Leap is “set aboard the Eurostar train which runs high-speed between London and Paris. Leap is a high-concept action-thriller with a grounded sci-fi idea at the center. The story follows a daring rescue mission to save one of the train’s passengers, who is trapped onboard in a never-ending time loop.”

A stunning new poster for Moon Knight was just revealed amid fan conversation pushing for the Oscar Isaac-led series to get a second season.
While the existence of a second season isn't confirmed for the fan-favorite project, there have been plenty of discussions about it in the past.
In September 2022, a video between Isaac and Moon Knight director Mohamed Diab prompted speculation about a continuation. At a convention in October of the same year, Isaac himself confirmed that "there have been some specific conversations" about the possibility.

When Marvel Television, the team that made shows like "Daredevil," "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.", and "Inhumans," was disbanded in 2019 and the film executives from Marvel Studios firmly took the reins of the company's promising slate of TV shows about to hit Disney+, the reaction from comic book fans was a sigh of relief. Finally, all Marvel projects would be directly overseen by Kevin Feige and his team, which, given their track record in movies up to that point, should ensure a level of consistent quality across the board.
That was the dream. But that dream died surprisingly quickly.
"WandaVision" started strong and sputtered in its climax. "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier" touched on a few interesting ideas, but got too bogged down with things like the "Power Broker." There were a few bright spots in the shows that followed. "Loki" season 1 and "Ms. Marvel" are the best seasons of TV...

"Daredevil: Born Again" is in big trouble. The highly anticipated Marvel Studios show, which promises to bring back The Devil of Hell's Kitchen (and supposedly also Punisher), is undergoing a huge revamp. According to The Hollywood Reporter, less than half of the show's 18 episodes had been shot by the time "Born Again" paused production during the writers' strike, but the footage available made Kevin Feige and other Marvel executives reconsider the entire project.
And so, late last month, Marvel quietly fired head writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman and let go of the directors for the remaining episodes while they head back to square one. Marvel is now looking for new writers and directors. According to THR, Ord and Corman's take was more of "a legal procedural that did not resemble the Netflix version, known for its action and violence." What's more, Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock doesn't even show...

It didn’t take long to see the problem after Marvel Studios’ Daredevil: Born Again paused production in mid-June during the writers strike. Fewer than half of the series’ 18 episodes had been shot, but it was enough for Marvel executives, including chief Kevin Feige, to review the footage and come away with a clear-eyed assessment: The show wasn’t working.
So, in late September, Marvel quietly let go of head writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman and also released the directors for the remainder of the season as part of a significant creative reboot of the series, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The studio is now on the hunt for new writers and directors for the project, which stars Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer turned superhero.

Egyptian director Abu Bakr Shawky, whose first film “Yomeddine” – about a man raised in a leper colony, who embarks with a young sidekick and a donkey on a journey across Egypt – had the rare distinction of making the competition cut for Cannes, is back behind the camera on the ambitious Saudi-set travel movie “Sea of Sands.”
Somewhat similarly to “Yomeddine,” which made a splash on the fest circuit in 2018, “Sea of Sands” involves a journey across the desert, this time embarked upon by a boy and his camel.
“Camels are very much part of the heritage of Saudi culture,” said Egyptian producer Mohamed Hefzy, who noted that in the “Sea of Sands” storyline the boy in question “is kind of inadvertently thrown into the world of camel racing. “It was never really his intention to become a championship jockey,” Hefzy went on to note. “But somehow, he has to do that to survive.

In what is being hailed as a milestone, Egyptian director Mohamed Diab recently became the first Arab helmer to direct a Marvel project when he took the reins of the limited series “Moon Knight,” while Netflix launched its latest Arab original show, “Finding Ola,” toplining Cairo-based Tunisian star Hend Sabry. Sabry plays a happy divorcee who embarks on a journey of self-discovery, reflecting changing female roles in the region and the streamer’s thematically groundbreaking Middle East strategy.
Meanwhile, Egyptian producer Mohammed Hefzy, whose production company Film Clinic was behind Netflix’s first Egyptian original skein, “Paranormal,” became a member of the 2022 Intl. Emmy Awards jury.
Hefzy points out that “Moon Knight” “opens doors for other Arab directors in the international TV arena” and notes that Marvel has also hired other behind-the-camera Egyptian talents such as editor Ahmed Hafez and composer Hesham Nazih. But still, it’s a Hollywood show.

Egypt, which is home to the Middle East and North Africa’s biggest film industry, will not participate in the Best International Film Oscar race this year.
According to Egyptian media reports, confirmed by Deadline, the committee of critics and cinema professionals responsible for selecting the country’s submission decided not to send a film for the lack of a credible candidate.
The four films on the final shortlist comprised Marwan Hamed’s Kira & El Gin, Hadi El-Baghoury’s Full Moon, Sherif Arafa’s The Crime and Magdy Ahmed Ali’s 2 Talaat Harb.
Two films generating potential submission buzz — Nadine Khan’s Abu Saddam and Omar El Zohairy’s Cannes 2021 Critics’ Week winner Feathers — could not be taken into consideration because they did not meet the 2022 theatrical release requirements.

This fall, Arab filmmakers will be out in force at such prestigious international fests as Venice and Toronto. Venice alone boasts six features from first- and second-time Arab directors in its official sections, plus an additional six works-in-progress at its Final Cut Production Bridge. Meanwhile, Toronto opens with “The Swimmers,” a drama from U.K. helmer Sally El Hosaini based on the journey of Syrian sisters and Olympic hopefuls Yusra and Sara Mardini, who fled the war in their home country for Germany. Yusra competed in the 2016 and 2021 Summer Olympics. An additional six Arab films will screen at the Canadian fest.

For Moon Knight, it was important for costume designer Meghan Kasperlik to put in the research and honor the ancient Egyptian influences. The series is nominated for eight Emmys, including Outstanding Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costumes for Kasperlik.
The Disney+ series follows Steven Grant (Oscar Isaac), who discovers he has been granted the powers of the Egyptian moon god Khonsu. Kasperlik incorporated Egyptian symbols into the costumes, with hieroglyphs, Khonsu’s oath, and mummy wrappings, to honor not only the Moon Knight comic series, but the ancient Egyptian story of Khonsu as well.
The series finale “Gods and Monsters” was chosen by Kasperlik for Emmy consideration due to the number of custom-built suits and monsters shown. Taweret’s costume was special for Kasperlik, as each member of her team had a hand in the hippopotamus goddess’s look.
Deadline: What did the creators of the series have in mind for the costume design?...

This Moon Knight article contains spoilers.
“Why else would we be in Cairo?” When Oscar Isaac asked that question in a viral TikTok video with director Mohamed Diab, it sparked hopes that a new season of Moon Knight was in the works. After all, since the first season ended its run in May, there has been no clear sign of what the future holds for Marc Spector, Steven Grant, and Jake Lockley in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Between the show’s lack of clear connection to the rest of the MCU and the single-season deal signed by Isaac, many wondered if the series would return for another go around at all. But while no official announcement has been made, the video — and Diab’s decision to share it with the header “Moonknight season 2?” — seems to indicate that Marc Spector and his many personalities could indeed return to television screens.
Sooooo Moon Knight Season 2 Or pic.

The call from Marvel Studios came out of the blue, recalls composer Hesham Nazih of when the studio reached out to ask for a demo reel of his compositions. It wasn’t until weeks later, when Nazih was called in for a meeting with the Marvel music department, that he learned they were interested in having him score the latest Disney+ miniseries, Moon Knight — and that Egyptian director Mohamed Diab, who was serving as an executive producer and directing four of the series’ six episodes, had recommended the Egyptian-born composer.
Nazih’s enthusiasm for the project grew immediately once he saw the first two episodes. “The character of Moon Knight, and the character of Marc Spector [one of the many dissociative personas played by star Oscar Isaac], is so rich, so dramatically full,” he says. Jeremy Slater has written, developed, and executive produced “The Umbrella Academy” and “The Exorcist.” And he’s written a slew of big-budget screenplays, but he’s never tackled anything as challenging as the three-year journey he spent as the head writer of the Disney+ limited series “Moon Knight.”

“The highlight was just being totally dwarfed by the challenge and trying to figure it out,” reveals Emmy-nominated cinematographer Gregory Middleton (“Game of Thrones”) about working on the spectacular Marvel Studios six-part limited series “Moon Knight,” on which he served as director of photography for four episodes alongside fellow D.P. “I’m immensely relieved,” declares Jeremy Slater about the overwhelmingly positive reaction from fans to “Moon Knight.” He and the entire Marvel Studios team took a huge gamble by presenting something unique and unpredictable, rather than throwing together the origin story of yet another brooding and mysterious caped crusader. “I’m a Marvel fan first and foremost,” he says, adding for our recent webchat, “I’ve been at probably every midnight showing for every MCU movie going back 10 years. When director Mohamed Diab approached the Disney+ series "Moon Knight," he was deeply concerned with making the series look and feel authentically Egyptian. A big part of that was bringing the sounds of Egypt to the production, and for that the director made a bold choice, playing songs by underground Egyptian musicians who had been banned by their own government.
Diab incorporated mahraganat, a genre of street-level Egyptian rap that has been banned by the country but grows in popularity among its people regardless. Just as hip-hop and rap gave voice to marginalized communities in America's inner cities, mahraganat developed as a type of party music that happened to...

As the Marvel Cinematic Universe has expanded into television, its musical reach has also grown, embracing diversity both in terms of its composers and the music they make.
English composer Natalie Holt (pictured above) brought unexpected sonorities to “Loki”; Cairo-based Hesham Nazih added specific Egyptian sounds to “Moon Knight”; and American composer Laura Karpman employed a traditional orchestra and choir on the animated “What If…?”
“Loki is sort of a likable baddie,” says Holt, “a grand, Machiavellian, Shakespearean character, so I wanted some kind of gravitas, classical weight, to his theme.”
Yet, in last summer’s six-part series, the Norse god of mischief (Tom Hiddleston) is also playing with time, which suggested more unusual sounds: the wailing of a theremin and its equally eerie French cousin, the ondes Martenot.
“I’d been listening to [Lithuanian theremin virtuoso] Clara Rockmore and [BBC Radiophonic Workshop pioneer] Delia Derbyshire,” Holt explains. “The sound of the theremin has stayed with me...

One of the best moments in Marvel’s recently ended Moon Knight series is when Layla El-Faouly (May Calamawy) agrees to become the temporary human avatar for the Egyptian goddess Taweret. This happens during a critical juncture in the season finale, when Marc Spector/Steven Grant/Moon Knight (Oscar Isaac) and the god Khonshu need all the help they can get to defeat the goddess Ammit, who has been released by Arthur Harrow (Ethan Hawke) to bring death to much of humanity.
Layla emerges in an awesome costume, with fearsome powers, and has since been dubbed by Marvel as the Scarlet Scarab. She and Taweret do indeed join the battle, and while Harrow and Ammit are finally defeated, Layla’s future as the avatar of Taweret and as a superhero remains unclear.

Creating the detailed, intricate looks for three massive Egyptian gods, a handful of “avatars” of said gods along with two all-new MCU superheroes is no simple job. Meghan Kasperlik, the costume designer on Marvel’s newest limited series “Moon Knight,” was tasked for creating the looks for these new additions to Marvel’s vast universe. To her, the art is in the details.
“I never want a costume in the story, unless it’s high fashion and really has to be in your face, to be in your face,” Kasperlik told Variety. “So everyone, across the board, has little touches on their costumes.”

Now that Moon Knight has ended its premiere season (with no word yet on whether there will be a second one), the show finished off with a mid-credits sequence that introduced a personality long awaited by diehard fans of the comics on which the show is based: Jake Lockley, the hidden third personality that shares the body of Marc Spector along with Spector himself and Steven Grant.
A taxicab driver in the comics, Lockley appears to be repurposed here as a ruthless killer who is – unbeknownst to Spector and Grant – still bonded with the Egyptian god Khonshu at the end of the show. There were teases of Lockley’s presence throughout the season’s six episodes, most notably in instances when Spector and Grant both “blacked out” while Lockley hijacked Spector’s body to commit acts of extreme violence.

“The peace you’ve always wanted, but never had.” According to Taweret, Marc Spector achieved that state when he arrived in the Sea of Reeds in the afterlife. But those words seem like a better description of Marc and Steven at the end of the series finale. The two identities seem to have integrated, and wake up in Steven’s bed, ready to live their lives anew (seemingly unperturbed by the dead bodies surrounding them whenever they blackout). In this state of peace, Marc and Steven’s story has finished.
Well, sort of. Although reports show that star Oscar Isaac only signed on for this one six-episode series, both he and Marvel clearly left the door open for more Moon Knight. So while we wait for a firm announcement one way or another, let’s examine some of the ways that a Moon Knight season two could go.

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for Moon Knight Season 1, Episode 6, “Gods and Monsters.”] At this point, Marvel fans know there will always be lingering questions at the end of any given MCU series, but its latest drama Moon Knight really left us hanging. In the mid-credits scene, we finally come face-to-face with the third personality in the Marc Spector/Steven Grant dissociative identity disorder triangle — Jake Lockley (Oscar Isaac). And, in perhaps the most exciting development, Marc’s wife Layla El-Faouly (May Calamawy) is now a superhero as well — Marvel’s first Egyptian hero. And they can’t let that gorgeous Wonder Woman-esque costume go to waste, right? Below, we unpack our most lingering questions with director/executive producer Mohamed Diab and executive producer Grant Curtis. Why does Arthur Harrow (Ethan Hawke) leave the scarab behind? Early on in Episode 6, Harrow leaves the scarab on Marc’s dead body before departing with Ammit (voiced by Saba Mubarak). Sure,...

Yesterday, the finale of Marvel‘s limited series “Moon Knight” dropped on Disney+, and with the show over it’s unknown when we’ll see the character pop up again. The studio hasn’t announced a season two as they previously did with “Loki” after that show completed it’s run last year. One reason might be that Marvel recruited “Moon Knight” directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead for “Loki” season two after director Kate Herron wasn’t expected to come back.
