Who knows more about the law, former Yale-educated practicing lawyer and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton or Kim Kardashian?
Turns out, the reality TV star, who has been studying to be a lawyer, is more knowledgeable than the one-time First Lady — or just faster on the draw, as we see in a clip from the upcoming Apple TV+ series “Gutsy” shared by People on Wednesday, which you can watch at the top of this post.
Chelsea Clinton, who produces and stars in the docuseries along with her mother, acted as quizmaster. When asked, “Under what circumstances may one use deadly force to defend themselves?” Kim was the first to hit her buzzer and she got the answer right, giving a small, satisfied smirk and shrugging her shoulders at Hillary. The round went to Kim, who scored 11 points to Hillary’s four.

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for The Kardashians Season 1, Episode 6, “This is a Life or Death Situation.”] The most surprising thing The Kardashians Season 1 has revealed is that Kendall Jenner doesn’t know how to slice cucumbers. And The Kardashians Season 1 Episode 6, “This Is a Life or Death Situation,” seals the long-forming feeling that this show just isn’t necessary. The episode’s title isn’t hyperbolic. Kim Kardashian spends the entire installment working to commute the sentences of two death-row inmates, Brandon Bernard and Julius Jones. Tragically, Bernard was executed on December 10, 2020. And content warning for those who haven’t yet watched the episode: there is a phone call shared between Kim and Brandon during the last days of his life. His story is truly heartbreaking to watch, as is Jones’, although his sentence was successfully commuted to a life sentence without parole. The episode’s heavy subject matter is starkly contrasted by the goings...

It’s the Kardashians, like you’ve never seen them before.
In the wake of departing E! after 20 seasons with their signature reality show Keeping Up With the Kardashians, the family took the concept of putting their personal lives on camera to the next level, and that is with Hulu in their revamped series The Kardashians. Everything up about it is more luxurious: glitzy production quality, jaw-dropping drone cinematography, and overall a pivot to embrace a more documentary tone.
Contenders TV Docs + Unscripted — Deadline’s Complete Coverage
Oh, and another thing, the entertainment industry-savvy family is reaching a bigger audience on streaming. Already, Disney has declared The Kardashians is the most-watched series premiere on Hulu in the U.S., and on Disney+ and Star+ among Star Originals across all global markets to date.

ABC’s “The Last Defense” is living up to its name for subject Julius Jones.
Thanks to some new evidence of racial bias uncovered by the ABC documentary, death row-inmate Jones could get a new hearing from the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals (Occa), which has now withdrawn a June order denying a defense attorney’s requests to look at evidence of racial bias by a jury, per The City Sentinel. The judges also concluded they could not ignore court mismanagement of exhibits earlier this year.
“The Last Defense” found that one of the jurors who convicted Jones, who is black, in the 1999 murder of Paul Howell used the N-word during deliberations about the then-defendant.

Julius Jones was a 19 year-old star athlete who ran around with the wrong crowd and then was fingered for murdering an upper class white man Paul Howell in a carjacking gone wrong, but ABC’s new docu-series The Last Defense has over the past three weeks been re-examining the case, tearing holes in the prosecution’s case with one valid question after another including how racism played out in the case. Now, the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals is going to take another look at the case, and Jones’ lawyer is crediting The Last Defense for bringing national attention to racism in the criminal justice system.
The show, which aired at 10 Pm on ABC was a seven-part series in its first season that ended Tuesday night. On Wednesday, it was reported on ABC’s Oklahoma affiliate Koco that the Appeals Court decided to take a look at racism as it relates to the Jones’ case.

[Editor's Note: "They hate it, we love it!" - A carryover from Deadly Magazine, Deadly Pleasures will now be a regular column on Daily Dead. Each installment, a different writer will defend an often hated genre movie.]
Even though grossly maligned when released in October 1995, Vampire in Brooklyn has become something of an unfortunate punch line in the careers of both its director and star. Although it’s been misunderstood and wrongly forced to take a time out in the horror genre’s “Shame Corner” over the last two decades, I still adore the hell out of Vampire in Brooklyn.
Starring Eddie Murphy, Angela Bassett, Allen Payne, Kadeem Hardison and John Witherspoon, and directed by Wes Craven, Vampire in Brooklyn is pretty much Nosferatu meets Coming to America with a Blaxploitation twist. Murphy plays a smooth-talking vampire from the Caribbean, named Maximillian, who must sire a companion to spend eternity with before the passing of the next full moon or he’ll be doomed to walk the Earth alone forever. As it turns out, a troubled NYPD Detective (played by Bassett) is destined to be Max’s...
