Launched Sept 2020 in Podnews, NPR ends localised versions of the Consider This podcast this week, which they claimed at the time was the "first localised daily news podcast". Localisation "did not prove sustainable", said a spokesperson; Current reports that the production process wasn't scalable; audiences didn't value it much anyway; and NPR is moving to Megaphone which means the use of different tools. Consider This continues, with national content
Your News Now, an Australian podcast with "news and weather for your location", was launched in May; while dynamic audio tool Spooler, launched in March 2022, is readying additional features. On a recent episode, The Accidental Tech Podcast discussed their current sponsorship situation and the importance of membership. Their revenue is "super down this year" because they don't wish to offer Dai nor join an ad network.

New York Times bestselling author and TV personality Nicole Lapin has inked a deal with BenBella for her next book, “Becoming Super Woman.”
It is set to be released in March 2019 as a lead title and major focus of the year for the publisher behind backlist books like “The China Study.”
As part of their partnership, Lapin will receive a larger portion of the title’s back-end than standard royalties. This was an effort to sign the sought-after author, who has carved out a niche as a brazen money and career expert for a younger audience. She is represented by Folio Literary Management’s Steve Troha, who also represents Misty Copeland, Gabby Bernstein, and Tracy Anderson and secured Lapin’s last two sizable book deals.

Exclusive: A year after she left CNBC, Nicole Lapin is returning to business cable television with a deal at rival Bloomberg TV. Starting today, Lapin will be a substitute anchor for the network’s live show Bloomberg West filling in for Emily Chang, who is on maternity leave. I hear Lapin also has taped segments to air on Bloomberg TV this week as the non-compete clause in her CNBC contract just ended. Word is that Bloomberg TV may also develop a show for Lapin, who has appeared on CNN and Entertainment Tonight/The Insider since leaving CNBC but couldn’t work for other business cable networks. Lapin left CNBC at the beginning of September 2011 to launch her own multimedia production company Nothing But Gold. Lapin also has just begun appearing on Carlos Slim’s new digital network Ora.tv, where she was recently tapped to develop her own digital show based on her website Recessionista.

You can tell how massive and diverse a festival like Tribeca is by the fact that I saw 10 features and a whole bunch of shorts, yet only one film I saw won an award and none received special mention. I want to congratulate Rider & Shiloh Strong for winning best online short for their amazing film, The Dungeon Master. I have been pushing it as my favorite short of the festival and apparently many people agreed with me. Below is the list of all the winners & special mentions. Congratulations to all of them and congrats to everyone who just played at the festival, which is a huge honor by itself.

It turns out the on-air resignation by CNN anchor Lou Dobbs was part of a more sweeping change, including a shift away from online anchor-driven news. The rolling news broadcaster, part of the Time-Warner empire, announced yesterday that it had dispensed with the services of Reggie Aqui, Nicole Lapin, Naamua Delaney, and Melissa Long, plus an unspecified number of production staff. Perhaps CNN head honcho Jon Klein inadvertently gave us all a heads-up on this last month--in which case, how do you explain this?
Anyway, enough of the picking of nits. Let's go back to a CNN without Lou or rolling, anchor-based web news: which one are we going to miss the most? The channel is down to fourth in the news channel ratings--that's last, pop pickers--and Klein has obviously realized that things need to change.
The truth is that, these days, people get up-to-date news from their computers rather...

It seems Inauguration Day went off in Washington without a hitch. A million or so people showed up, Obama went to 10 parties, Jay-z called all white people liars. All in all, pretty successful. But don't think for a moment that the news media didn't take a break from their constant TV-latio of Barack to pop some champagne and celebrate the occasion.
When it comes to reporters drinking, I'm a firm supporter. I think Brian Williams and Anderson Cooper would be awesome drinking buddies because they're hilarious. John McEnroe can come too. We'll make fun of Bill O'Reilly and Gretta VanSuck, talk about how we want to nail CNN hotness Nicole Lapin. It would be awesome.
But just like your freshman dorm floor, there are some kids that can hold their liquor and some that cannot. And Diane Sawyer is one that cannot. Watch the video below of a very innebriated...
