"I hope to bring you a life of ease and pleasure." Brainstorm Media has reveal a new US trailer for a kooky UK sci-fi thriller called T.I.M., made by filmmaker Spencer Brown. What if M3gan but about a sexy robot instead of a child's doll? That's pretty much the concept here. The sci-fi AI thriller, T.I.M. (which stands for Technologically Integrated Manservant), stars Georgina Campbell (from Barbarian), Eamon Farren as T.I.M., Mark Rowley, Amara Karan, and Nathaniel Parker. Inspired by '90s stalker thrillers, the film follows Abi (Campbell), a prosthetics engineer, and her husband Paul. As they adapt to a new life outside the city, Abi's latest project, the A.I. humanoid T.I.M., initially appears as the perfect aid. Programmed to serve only her, it begins to transform into a perilous obsession, determined to replace Paul and be with her. This looks much better than it sounds,...

Netflix’s new techno chiller T.I.M. follows a career-conscious woman called Abi as she moves into a new smart home with her seemingly not-very-trustworthy husband Paul. Even as she tries to make an impact with her new employer, he decides to gift her a “Technologically Integrated Manservant” (T.I.M.) to fuss around the house and help her out while she’s busy at work. T.I.M. might be the creepiest robot version of Alexa possible!
It’s not long before T.I.M. is taking it upon himself to do more than re-up groceries and sweep the floors, becoming obsessed with Abi and having a marked distaste for her formerly wayward husband. Things soon spiral out of control in the spotless smart home while Abi is distracted by the wild demands of her boss. Can T.I.M. be stopped from doing something deadly before it’s too late?...

Let’s get this out of the way right from the top: Wes Anderson has never made a bad movie, and — in all likelihood — he probably never will. He’s too particular, too immaculate, too in command of his craft. Of course, the fact that he has always been so sure of himself only makes it more tempting to chart the progress of his career and to measure his films against each other. Or maybe it’s just fun because there are still only 11 of them, and everyone seems to have their own favorite. Who could say?
Anderson is the rarest of rarities, an arthouse filmmaker who not only finds ways to consistently make ambitious original projects, but also maintains genuine influence on what remains of mainstream pop culture. (None of the other esteemed directors who competed for the Palme d’Or at this year’s Cannes Film Festival were...

Moonhaven is now not returning to AMC+ for a second season after all. The streaming service has reversed the decision made in July to renew the futuristic thriller series. At the time, AMC Networks said that it was the most-watched AMC+ exclusive series. The show's cancellation is reportedly due to dramatic cost-cutting moves at AMC Networks.
Starring Emma McDonald, Dominic Monaghan, Amara Karan, Ayelet Zurer, Joe Manganiello, Kadeem Hardison, and Yazzmin Newell, the sci-fi series was created by Peter Ocko. It's set 100 years into the future at a colony on the moon.

AMC+ has canceled its sci-fi series “Moonhaven,” with the subscription video streaming service reversing its decision just four months ago to renew it for a second season.
The second season from creator and showrunner Peter Ocko was set to span six episodes and return to AMC+ in 2023. The cancellation comes amid programming write-downs and “large-scale layoff” at AMC Networks.
Upon its renewal in July, Dan McDermott, president of entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC Networks, said in a statement, “This is such an engaging and entertaining series, brilliantly conceived and run by Peter. The story is suspenseful, provocative and prescient, and features a phenomenal cast that delivers mesmerizing performances. What Peter and the team are crafting for Season 2 is next level, and the fans will be thrilled.”

The moon colony is closing down as AMC+ will not proceed with a second season of Moonhaven. Word of the cancellation comes four months after the dystonic sci-fi series was renewed for a second season and days after AMC Networks announced sweeping cost-cutting measures as CEO Christina Spade stepped down, which included laying off 20 of its U.S. staff, and write-downs for up to 475 million as it restructures its business. Up to 400 million of that is for content-related moves the company calls “strategic programming assessments”
In a SEC filing, AMC Networks said that “programming assessments pertain to a broad mix of owned and licensed content, including legacy television series and films that will no longer be in active rotation on the company’s linear or digital platforms.”

[Editor’s note: The following contains spoilers for the ending of “Moonhaven” Season 1.]
As Season 1 of “Moonhaven” is ending, an entire society hangs in the balance. A generations-long plan is starting to crumble, there’s a coup in progress, and some new arrivals are making the people of a self-contained lunar colony question pretty much everything.
Most other shows would lean into or feed off that chaos. Yet, “Moonhaven” takes some time for Earther pilot Bella (Emma McDonald) to join Paul Sarno (Dominic Monaghan) and his family in a quiet meal where they all talk about what they value and what’s to come.
“We said that a lot in the writers room, to ‘Think like a mooner,'” showrunner Peter Ocko said. “You didn’t grow up in a harsh environment, and then come to Paradise. You were born in Paradise. And so we built a fantasy version of a human that’s really in touch with themselves, but not...

Science fiction have always been uniquely fertile ground for political allegory. And sci-fi’s metaphorical potential only grows stronger when the politics and culture of real-life society start to resemble the surreality of a dark parallel universe or an alternate history.
That frisson of topicality is what made Hulu’s “The Handmaid’s Tale” a critical and commercial success in its early seasons. “Handmaid’s” acclaim and viewership have anecdotally ticked down in subsequent seasons, but when the U.S. Supreme Court voted to nullify a half-century of reproductive freedom, dozens of women showed up to protest in “Handmaid’s” sadly iconic red-robe-and-white-blinder ensemble. It’s proof in essence that Margaret Atwood’s narrative, as vividly rendered in creator Bruce Miller’s imagery, has become more popular as political ideology than they ever were as stories.

I spent two years fighting the complications of desperately wanting to recommend AMC’s delightfully weird dramedy Lodge 49 and being generally unable to even describe the show. A slice of surfer noir by way of Thomas Pynchon, like Terriers without the gumshoe trappings, Lodge 49 probably never would have been a mainstream smash, but I don’t think it ever came close to maxing out on the audience that would have fallen for its laconic, philosophical noodling and its abundant, low-key charms.
AMC+’s new series Moonhaven isn’t really a lunar Lodge 49, but hailing from Lodge 49 showrunner Peter Ocko and boasting Lodge 49 creator Jim Gavin as writer and producer, Moonhaven has some of that elusive DNA. As an enterprise, science fiction is loaded with temptation. The license to remake society in a specific image, with the added freedom of bending conventional logic in the process, makes overindulgence a very real possibility. At the same time, any futuristic story aiming for something operatic can feel rote if it doesn’t fully consider how changing conditions could really transform everyday life.
The most remarkable thing about “Moonhaven” — the latest original drama for the streaming service AMC+ — is the way it’s able to indulge its creative ambitions on an expansive canvas, all without losing sight of the individuals who make up the tableau. It finds that ultra-satisfying sweet spot between the radical and the familiar, a middle ground where discovery can happen over the course of an entire series and not just its opening chapter. Though it has its share of genre trappings, the broader conflict brewing around...

Or maybe it’s just fun because there are still only nine of them, and everyone seems to have their own favorite. Who could say?
Here are all of Wes Anderson’s feature films, ranked from “worst” to best.

CBS All Access's The Twilight Zone reboot offers a morality tale in the mold of some of the series most memorable episodes.
This The Twilight Zone review contains spoilers.
The Twilight Zone Episode 2
After conquering the box office and becoming Hollywood’s latest original idea-driven auteur, Jordan Peele isn’t resting on his laurels, instead taking the opportunity to tear into hallowed ground and redevelop The Twilight Zone for the streaming age. The former sketch comedy chameleon is easily able to slip into the slow, measured, yet slightly sinister Rod Serling narrator role, honoring tradition yet clearly offering something new. One of the first installments in this new reboot, “The Comedian” brings a similar vibe. The episode has a quintessential Twilight Zone premise, a comedian mines his personal life for material but erases anyone that makes it into his act, while having a modern comedic sensibility, a diverse cast,...

The signpost ahead reads “The Twilight Zone,” ushering viewers to a realm that at once feels familiar and yet is almost entirely new. Executive producers Jordan Peele and Simon Kinberg have reimagined Rod Serling’s classic horror/science-fiction/fantasy series from the ‘60s for a whole new generation.
At an event in Hollywood this year, Kinberg revealed why it was the perfect time to bring back the show. “I think the world all of a sudden was in desperate need of ‘The Twilight Zone,’” he said. ‘If you said three, four years ago that like a reality star who had no political experience will be the leader of the free world with access to the nuclear button, you think that’s a crazy ‘Twilight Zone’ episode.”
Kinberg also said that the vision Peele and CBS All Access had meshed with how to tell stories while pushing it to the limits.

Richard Price and Steven Zaillian’s “The Night Of” balanced cinematic production values with the miniseries capacity to dig deeper into details that are necessary for delivering the procedural goods.
The HBO miniseries was like “The Verdict” meets “Law and Order,” with its cultural and political overtones, exploring the ugliness of New York City’s criminal justice system, where it’s a matter of survival for everyone.
“The Night Of” is also Hitchcockian in its destruction of innocence and freedom. What starts as a sexual fantasy for Pakistani-American college student Naz Khan (Riz Ahmed) – who picks up an alluring young woman, Andrea (Sofia Black-d’Elia), in his father’s cab – ends in a surreal nightmare when he wakes up and finds her brutally stabbed to death. Khan is an easy suspect for Detective Box (Bill Camp) and a gift for struggling attorney John Stone (Emmy-nominated John Turturro).

While it was a perfectly enjoyable film, it’s not like anyone was really asking for a remake of The Intouchables, the French movie that landed back in 2011 to mostly positive reviews. That hasn’t stopped The Weinstein Company from pressing on with their project though and after bringing on Bryan Cranston and Kevin Hart to star, the studio is now looking to round out the cast.
