You know I've never really been a big fan of the Olympics. I respect what they stand for and marvel at the prowess of each countries athletes, yet I can't help but be bored despite the spectacle of the event. Throw in some flesh hungry zombies? Okay, now you've gotten my full attention.
According to Screen Daily Cardiff-based Severn Screen (formerly Garage Light Films) is working with Warp Films (the company behind Donkey Punch and Hush) to make a zombie film based on the 2012 Olympics.
The Film Agency for Wales is backing the as-yet-untitled project with £150,000, and UK distributor Revolver is also co-financing. Chris Boyle will direct.
The film will shoot in Wales, where it will also be posted. A September shoot date is set, but the plot is being kept under wraps for now.
Strange Village, which includes two members of the Super Furry Animals, will compose the music.

Every time someone announces a new zombie film, I'm going to think of this John Carpenter interview where he questions why someone is going to do... another zombie movie . The latest one on the news slab is in development in the UK. Severn Screen and Warp Films will produce an undead effort that is tied in to the Olympics in some way. Plot details are being kept under wraps. Chris Boyle is directing; shooting begins next month. That's all we've got for now, but that's enough for you to chew on until the next zombie film is announced.

I am obsessed with all things even vaguely related to The Mighty Boosh, a bizarre comedy from the UK that features besties Howard Moon, a gloomy jazz fan, Vince Noir, an androgynous mod, Naboo the shaman, and Bollo the talking gorilla as they go on "a journey through time and space." (Incidentally, the DVDs of the show are finally available for region 1 DVD players!)
There have been rumors of a Boosh movie, and Noel Fielding is also in a bizarro fake documentary called I Spit on Your Rave as the Zombie King. (It's described as "a mockumentary by director Chris Boyle about the first post-apocalypse zombie music festival" and is due out in 2010.) But meanwhile, I'll sate my ravenous hunger for more of the Boosh crew with their new movie, Bunny and the Bull. Boosh director Paul King wrote and directed the screenplay, and fans will be excited to see...
