Following its world premiere at South by Southwest, You Sing Loud, I Sing Louder changed its tune to the more memorable Bleeding Love, an homage to the Leona Lewis mega hit featured in the film and a fitting allusion to the emotionally fueled core of the father-daughter focused story. Ewan McGregor stars alongside his real-life daughter Clara McGregor, who produced and co-wrote the story with producer Vera Bulder and Ruby Caster. Though a work of fiction, the idea began with Clara drawing on past aspects of her own father-daughter relationship.

Jesse McCartney is a name that pop music lovers from the ’00s will never forget.
Many fans met him as a member of the boyband Dream Street, but he found breakout success as a solo artist. Jesse‘s discography features hits such as “Leavin’,” “Body Language,” and “Just So You Know,” and as a songwriter he helped pen Leona Lewis‘s enduring smash “Bleeding Love.”
That was just the start for him, though, and he’s continued to grow and explore new projects over the years.
On Friday (April 5), he dropped a new EP titled All’s Well. The five-song collection features a cheeky collab with Yung Gravy called “Make a Baby.” As the title implies, it’s all about the excitement and challenges of family planning, something that he and wife Katie Peterson are currently familiar with.
Next up, he embarks on the All’s Well Tour in a week.

Composer Lorne Balfe has spent his career working on blockbusters including “Top Gun: Maverick” and “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning” but even so, Matthew Vaughn’s spy thriller “Argylle,” which features an all-star cast including Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell and Henry Cavill, was one for the books. For a start, the soundtrack incorporates the Beatles’ last-ever record, “Now and Then,” the existence of which Balfe had to keep top secret for over a year until it was finally released last November.
The movie also involved Balfe making an album of cat sounds, provided by Vaughn’s moggy (and Howard’s co-star) Chip. “There were recordings of him while they were filming so we were able to chop it up and make it a percussion library,” says Balfe, a self-confessed dog person. “I’m going to post it on Twitter as a freebie so composers can use it and Chip...

The former British reality TV juggernaut The X Factor is under fire, with former staff revealing that producers used a secret coding system to highlight contestants with the “potential to kick off.”
During the BBC podcast, Offstage: Inside the X Factor, one former production employee described coding including “E for entertaining, then Pko for potential kick-off.”
They added: “PKOs were those who might fight back, yell or drop a mic in annoyance. We all remember the time where the girl punched her best friend. Any sense of that? You put them straight through.”
The X Factor aired for 17 years following its debut in 2004, and made stars of bands including Little Mix and One Direction, and solo artists Leona Lewis and Alexandra Burke.
The Times of London reports that the podcast raises more questions about the quality of care accorded to participants in the hit show, including making them sign contracts without due diligence,...

While receiving amfAR’s Award of Inspiration at the AIDS nonprofit’s Venice gala on Sunday night, Ava DuVernay recalled the first time she fell in love with movies.
“It was the original ‘West Side Story,'” DuVernay said. “The colors, the Brown people, the romance, warring gangs, dance fighting, Maria and Tony… it ignited my passion for film and led me to leave Compton, Calif. and speak to all of you in a 16th century old school building in Venice.”
Held at the Scuola Grande della Misericordia, an imposing building featuring walls embossed with centuries-old Venetian art, this year’s amfAR Venezia kicked off with a cocktail hour where guests could admire the art that would be on auction later that night, including pieces from Andy Warhol and Slim Aarons. The event included performances from Leona Lewis and Rita Ora, backed by a live string orchestra, while guests including Bella Thorne,...

Just as the Venice Film Festival was establishing itself as one of the most thrilling red carpets on the festival and awards show circuit — in 2022, The New York Times called its fashion parade the “most glamorous” of the year thanks to wow appearances from Timothée Chalamet, Tessa Thompson and Florence Pugh — the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes are stamping out a significant portion of the Hollywood star power and its attendant style at the 80th edition of the event.
“The real appeal is brought by the American stars without a doubt,” Piero Piazzi, the president of Women Management modeling agency, tells The Hollywood Reporter. “There can’t be a definitive comparison; it all depends from years to year depending on the films and stars present. [But] Cannes will certainly be considered more prestigious this year as the strike by American actors was not underway in May.”

The 80th Venice Film Festival gets underway in earnest Wednesday and the landmark edition will be unlike any other, taking place as it does against the backdrop of two Hollywood strikes.
The build-up to the festival has been dominated by talk of which stars will make it to the event and which will stay at home. It hasn’t been as challenging for organizers as the Covid editions, but it’s surely up there in recent memory.
As we revealed Friday, the outlook for U.S. celebrity attendance is patchy, with a handful of big names set to appear and do the usual press obligations. Others have decided to stay away to avoid the accusation of strike breaking or simply “bad optics.” Expect media to be dominated by strike talk, especially on any American films.

Being a girl dad has its problems, especially when your daughter thinks you’re a prick. As “Bleeding Love” begins, a teenage girl shoots a jaundiced look at her father who is driving her somewhere in the desolate West. She can’t hear him because her headphones are blaring “I’m Yer Dad,” a not even remotely subtle noise pop song by Grlwood that includes the lyric, “Feed me food while I watch sports / In my man cave made for sports / Whores in my porn, porn in my sports … ’Cause I’m your dad.”
Dad studies her without comprehension. She is his daughter, but she is an undiscovered country to him. He vacated his fatherly duties during his booze years, and now he must deal with an estranged beautiful daughter whose heart stopped beating last night during an overdose. He pulls his pickup to the side of the road so she can pee,...

Los Angeles, July 3 (Ians) Ewan McGregor preferred to show his kids one of his films ‘just for the laughs ‘. The actor used to show the toilet scene from ‘Trainspotting’ to his kids.
“I wasn’t there when (my daughter) Clara watched Trainspotting for the first time. But I did used to show my kids ‘the toilet scene’. Just for a laugh. It’s a unique situation, perhaps, for a father to be able to show his children footage of him going down the toilet,” he said at Karlovy Vary Film Festival, recently, Variety reported.
The trauma didn’t stop there. “I have a memory of showing Clara ‘Moulin Rouge!’, however. I think she was 9 years old. I put it on, and then I hear this wailing and crying. I rushed in, asking if I should switch it off and she went: ‘Noooo!'”

Well, Paramount+ went there.
The streaming service on Friday canceled a wave of original series, and there are some shockers.
Before we dig into the cancellations, the canceled shows will be removed from its platform as the company takes a content write-down.
The news isn't too surprising. HBO Max opened the floodgates for the likes of Showtime and Starz to pull shows off the air and their platforms.
In fact, some shows didn't even see the light of day. It's a precedent that is a stark reminder of how media companies are set up nowadays.
We'll begin with Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies, which launched earlier this year.
Despite a strong critical response, the series will not be returning.
"Before rock 'n' roll ruled, before the T-Birds were the coolest in the school, four fed-up outcasts dare to have fun on their own terms, sparking a moral panic that will change Rydell High forever,...

Humane Society International and our partner organizations together constitute one of the world’s largest animal protection organizations-backed by 11 million people. Hsi works to protect all animals-including animals in laboratories, farm animals, companion animals, and wildlife-and our record of achievement demonstrates our dedication and effectiveness. With the support of our advocates and donors, we have advocated for strong legislation to protect animals. For example, in 2009 we helped achieve a European Union ban on trade in seal products, a major step toward ending the annual commercial seal slaughter in Canada. We work with local animal organizations in countries all over the world to provide direct, hands-on care to animals in need and spread the culture of compassion. Our campaigns strike at the root of problems affecting animals by providing the tools and resources to prevent animal suffering both now and in the future.

During its original 15-year run, the UK version of “The X Factor” attracted an average of 9.3 million viewers per season and launched the careers of several record-breaking singers, including Leona Lewis and Harry Styles. While some of the show’s winners have maintained successful music careers, others have faded into obscurity. Check out our photo gallery of “The X Factor winners” and where they are now.
“The X Factor” was first presented in September 2004 as the new and improved successor to ITV’s “Pop Idol” (2001-2003). Though a new season has not aired since 2018, unconfirmed reports of a revival have been circulating since June of 2022. Because of this indefinite hiatus, even the most recent victors have each had the opportunity to build somewhat of a resume.

Two years on from the publication of the Government’s Action Plan for Animal Welfare, which promised to ‘revolutionise the treatment of animals in the UK’, celebrities including Dame Joanna Lumley, Leona Lewis, Susie Dent and Will Young have written to Prime Minister Rishi Sunak stating that animals “have been badly let down”.
The celebrities, joining forces with leading UK animal charities Animal Aid, Compassion in World Farming, Four Paws UK, Humane Society International/UK, PETA UK and the Rspca, lament a lack of progress on addressing issues such as ending live animal exports, exploring action on the import and sale of fur products and banning keeping primates as pets. “One Step Closer,” the theme song for Apple TV+’s upcoming kids and family series “Jane,” is performed by Leona Lewis from music and lyrics written by Diane Warren.
The series follows nine-year-old Jane (Ava Louise Murchison), a budding environmentalist who looks up to Dr. Jane Gooddall and is on a quest to save endangered animals with the help of her best friends, David (Mason Blomberg) and Greybeard the chimpanzee.
Warren has also pledged to donate a portion of her profits from the song to the Jane Goodall Institute, a global community conservation organization founded by Goodall. “When I was asked to write the song for Apple TV+’s new series based on Jane Goodall’s mission, I couldn’t say yes fast enough,” she said. “She is my hero. The work she has done has inspired so many including me, and now she has inspired my song, ‘One Step Closer.

The X Factor may be coming back the U.S. television, as creator and judge Simon Cowell appears to be in talks to revive the singing competition series on NBC.
Cowell said that the network had “offered us to make the show” during an interview with The Sun, adding: “Which means we’ll make the show here.”
Sources tell Deadline that the deal isn’t done yet. It would likely fall under Cowell’s expanded deal with NBCUniversal, which he signed last year.
It is unclear how The X-Factor would fit alongside NBC’s existing singing competition flagship The Voice, which currently airs two installments a season, as well as Cowell’s variety hit America’s Got Talent, a summer staple, which also has spawned a winter All-Stars spinoff.
When Fox carried both American Idol and The X-Factor, they each aired one installment per season — The X-Factor in the fall, and American Idol in the spring.

Christmas is quickly approaching and the nation is hastily compiling playlists of the best festive bangers to get in a much-needed good mood.
While all Christmas songs are at least partly embarrassing by nature of being Christmas songs, there are some cool kids out there – your “Fairytale of New York”s, your “Christmas Wrapping”s.
The songs on this list, however, are decidedly not that. They’re cheesy, cringey and, occasionally a little bit weird, which is a mood I think you should go for over the festive period. If you’re genuinely embarrassed to be seen singing along to any of these, you’re in the right place.
Here are 10 of the best Christmas songs we’re all ashamed to admit we secretly love, perfectly timed for you to terrorise your family and friends with over the coming weeks…

America’s Got Talent judge Simon Cowell has opened up about bringing back his singing competition, The X Factor, claiming that U.S. networks are interested in reviving the format. Simon Cowell has said that The X Factor will “more likely than not” return to screens in 2024.
The record executive, best known for judging The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent, said he is often asked when the talent contest will return and will only bring it back if he could “go back to where the show started”.
The X Factor first aired in 2004 and catapulted artists such as One Direction, Little Mix and Leona Lewis to stardom, before concluding in 2018.
In an interview with The Sun, Cowell said: “The funny thing is that when young people approach me on the street, all they want to know is when X Factor is coming back.
“They all watch it on YouTube. When we stopped the show, I genuinely thought there was no need for it — that everyone would be signed from YouTube.”
“But there are so many people wanting to...

Although Cowell didn’t reveal how serious the talks are for The X-Factor to return to the U.S., he did say that the U.K. version would “more likely than not” have a comeback in 2024. Cargo Film & Releasing has acquired domestic and international rights to director Violet Du Feng’s feature documentary “Hidden Letters.”
The film had its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival and its European premiere at the BFI London Film Festival. It won Best Documentary and the Audience Award at the Austin Asian American Film Festival.
Cargo will premiere the film theatrically starting in New York and Los Angeles on Dec. 9. It will also receive an awards campaign this year.
“Hidden Letters” follows two millennial Chinese women connected by their passion for Nushu, a secret female-only language that for centuries has allowed women to communicate privately without men understanding their correspondence.
While practices like foot-binding are long past, the film shines a light on contemporary millennial women’s ongoing struggle to forge their own paths in the patriarchal climate in China today, and the value of a sisterhood that can support along the way.
