“You’ve been making women feel bad about themselves since you were invented,” the hip teen Sasha (Ariana Greenblatt) tells the stereotypical Barbie standing before her. “You represent everything wrong with our culture: sexualized capitalism, unrealistic physical ideals.” Stereotypical Barbie is horrified: “No, no, no, you’re describing something stereotypical,” she insists.
Margot Robbie spent much of Barbie proving why the doll she portrayed wasn’t the sexist object that girls like Sasha see. The Aussie actor has a much more difficult task ahead of her if she’s going to do the same thing in her upcoming project Avengelyne. Everything about Avengelyne screams mindless sex and violence—which is why Robbie is the perfect choice. Hold on, let us explain…

One of the biggest upcoming MCU releases is most certainly ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ The movie marks several big things. It’s Deadpool’s first foray into the MCU and also the only MCU movie to be released in 2024, in the hopes of restoring at least some of the faith that the fans of the franchise lost in the last several years due to a string of several poorly received movies.
The recently released trailer also confirmed that several old faces from the ‘Deadpool’ and Fox’s ‘X-Men’ franchises are going to be making a return, a few faces were however notably missing, Angel Dust, Cable, and Domino.
Most of the fans were aware that Gina Carano likely won’t be reprising her role as the actress was let go due to “offensive” posts made on social media after which she was promptly fired by Disney. But fans were still holding...

One of the most anticipated MCU releases is undoubtedly ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ This movie marks several significant milestones—it’s Deadpool’s first step into the MCU and the sole MCU film slated for release in 2024. The aim is to regain some of the faith lost by fans in recent years due to a string of poorly received movies.
The recently unveiled trailer also confirmed the return of several familiar faces from the ‘Deadpool’ and Fox’s ‘X-Men’ franchises. However, notable absences include Angel Dust, Cable, and Domino.
Many fans anticipated that Gina Carano wouldn’t return to her role, as she was fired following “offensive” social media posts, leading to her swift termination by Disney. Despite this, fans clung to hope for Domino and Cable’s return, especially after their expanded roles were hinted at in ‘Deadpool 2.’

We recently got word that a live-action movie based on Rob Liefeld's fantasy/horror comic series Avengelyne was in development, and we have some exciting updates courtesy of Deadline.
As previously reported, the project will be directed by Olivia Wilde (Don't Worry Darling), with LuckyChap, the company Margot Robbie runs with Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara, and Simon Kinberg, on board to produce. Now, we've learned that Warner Bros is negotiating to close a seven-figure film-rights deal for the movie, and Poor Things scribe Tony McNamara has signed on to pen the script.
The trade also confirmed that Robbie is interested in playing the title role, but it sounds like her decision will be script-dependent.
An earlier version of the movie was in the works back in 2013, with former The Mandalorian actress Gina Carano attached to star.

Earlier this month, we learned that Margot Robbie and Olivia Wilde are teaming up to bring the comic book character Avengelyne, who was created by Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld, to the big screen. Wilde, who previously directed Booksmart and Don’t Worry Darling, will be directing the film, with Robbie producing through her company LuckyChap – and there’s a chance that she’ll end up playing the title character as well, although her reps were denying that at the time of the earlier report. Now Deadline has broken the news that the Avengelyne project has landed at Warner Bros., with the studio negotiating to close a seven figure film rights deal. It makes sense that WB wanted it, since they just had a $1.4 billion success with Robbie and LuckyChap’s Barbie.

When Tatiana Maslany was announced to be starring as Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk, Marvel fans were excited about another talented actress playing a popular Marvel character. However, when the trailers and promotional material for She-Hulk: Attorney at Law were released, fans were concerned with the forced slapstick comedy and the show’s handling of the fourth-wall-breaking trait of the character.
Tatiana Maslany plays the titular character in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law
The show ultimately was criticized by fans despite receiving good reviews from critics. Fans’ concerns came true and it is considered one of the worst entries in the MCU. Instead of owning up to the show’s failure, Maslany honed in on how the show itself predicted the criticism that was about to emerge.

After Olivia Coleman, the Marvel star Tatiana Maslany has joined the chorus against the self-taped audition process. The practice, alongside issues such as streaming residuals and artificial intelligence, became a focal point in the collective bargaining negotiations between SAG-AFTRA and the AMPTP in 2023. Originating during the 2019 global pandemic, it has since become a widespread practice in the industry.

In the movie Dream Scenario, starring Nicholas Cage, a biology professor named Paul Matthews starts appearing in the nightmares of random people all over the country.
None of these people understand why, nor do they know anything about Paul beyond recognizing his unusual face -- which gives them flashbacks of the terrible dream.
Paul himself is perplexed because he has not intentionally done anything to these people, nor is he a Freddy Krueger-type monster who controls a higher plane of existence.
But when Paul becomes infamous for his cameo appearances in peoples' dreams, he begins to see scorn, fear, hatred, and eventually violence coming from people who hold him personally responsible for their nightmares.
As I finished Dream Scenario, I realized this is what some right-leaning celebrities must feel like.

Disney has posed a robust defense against Gina Carano, the former star of The Mandalorian, who filed a lawsuit against Lucasfilm and The Walt Disney Co. in February 2021, alleging wrongful termination. Disney has submitted a motion to dismiss the lawsuit and cited a constitutional right to dissociate themselves from Carano’s controversial anti-trans statements.
According to court records, Disney outlined its reasons for severing ties with Carano in the motion filed on Tuesday in California Central District federal court. The actress, known for her background in mixed martial arts, portrayed the character of bounty hunter Cara Dune.
The motion argues that Disney possesses the constitutional right to disassociate its artistic expression from Carano’s speech, invoking the First Amendment as a complete defense against her claims.

Gina Carano has responded to Disney's recent move to dismiss the actress' lawsuit against the company over her controversial firing from The Mandalorian.
Last February, the actress sued Disney and Lucasfilm for discrimination and wrongful termination regarding her firing from the Star Wars series and is seeking compensatory damages.
X owner Elon Musk is also backing the actress' lawsuit as part of his promise to shoulder the legal bill of users who claimed that they were discriminated against and fired over their activity on the platform.

Gina Carano is once again slamming Disney.
If you were unaware, the 41-year-old actress was fired from the popular Disney+ series The Mandalorian in early 2021 over controversial posts on social media. In response, she sued the company in February 2024 with the assistance of Elon Musk. She is seeking to be recast and paid for damages to her career.
On April 9, Disney filed a motion in court to have the case dismissed “on the grounds that Disney has a constitutional right not to associate its artistic expression with Carano’s speech, such that the First Amendment provides a complete defense to Carano’s claim.”
Following Disney‘s new motion, Gina took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to hit back at the company.

Gina Carano has written that the Walt Disney Company will “take any chance they get to control what you say, what you think or they will attempt to destroy your career,” issuing a social media response to the studio’s recent motion to dismiss the actor’s lawsuit against the company.
Carano starred on the Disney+ “Star Wars” series “The Mandalorian” for two seasons before being fired for in February 2021, after she analogized the treatment of modern-day conservatives to the persecution of Jews in Nazi Germany.
Carano sued the studio in February, arguing that Disney unlawfully retaliated against her for expressing her politics, as opposed to Disney’s preferred ideological views. The studio filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit Tuesday, arguing that it had a First Amendment right to fire the actor and that it had a “constitutional right not to associate its artistic expression with Carano’s speech.

Earlier, we posted an article discussing Disney’s attempt to get Gina Carano’s lawsuit against them dismissed. Carano filed the initial lawsuit in February against the company after she was terminated from Lucasfilm’s “Star Wars” due to a social media post she made on social media. Carano claims that the dismissal and comments made impacted her career.

Outside of the divisive reception of the recent Star Wars theatrical films and television shows, one of the biggest controversies surrounding the franchise was the ousting of former female Mma fighter turned actress Gina Carano. The actress, who portrayed the character of Cara Dune in The Mandalorian and was meant to star in the now-canceled series Rangers of the New Republic, was fired as a result of a social media post.
Carano made a post comparing the political climate of late 2020/early 2021 to that of Nazi Germany, where the Jewish people were harassed and attacked by their neighbors, and how that resembled the political cancel culture many were facing at the time of her post. Not long afterward, Lucasfilm announced her firing, despite other actors, such as Pedro Pascal, who had made similar social media posts.

Upon their release, the prequel trilogy was seen as a major step down from the original, which changed the sci-fi landscape in the ’70s. But following the rise of social media, the Ewan McGregor-led Star Wars flicks saw an upsurge in popularity, with fans showcasing their fondness for McGregor’s portrayal of Obi-Wan Kenobi.
This would eventually push him to reprise the character in the 2022 Disney Plus show. But initially, after Revenge of the Sith, McGregor did not intend to return to the role following his experience with the critics.

Forget Booksmart – actor-director Olivia Wilde is about to get comic-book-smart. In an unexpected but not at all unwelcome turn of events, the Don't Worry Darling filmmaker is, according to THR, set to bring Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld's cult '90s comic series Avengelyne to the big screen. And what's more, Margot Robbie — no stranger to a superhero movie or two herself — is also aboard, and will co-produce alongside Deadpool writer-producer Simon Kinberg under her LuckyChap banner.
Now, we know what you're thinking: "Who the heck is Avengelyne? An avenger? An angel?" Well try avenging angel and you're just about there. Created by Liefeld and the appropriately-named Cathy Christian, Avengelyne debuted in Avengelyne: Deadly Sins #1 in 1995. An angel cast out of heaven for questioning God's love of humanity, Avengelyne uses her divine powers — super strength, regenerative healing, necromancy, the odd holy sword, and, err, miraculous blood — to fight demons on...

Olivia Wilde, Margot Robbie and “X-Men” producer Simon Kinberg are joining forces for a feature adaptation of “Avengelyne,” a comic book character from “Deadpool” co-creator Rob Liefeld.
Wilde, whose filmmaking credits include “Booksmart” and “Don’t Worry Darling,” is attached to direct. Robbie’s company LuckyChap and her partners Tom Ackerley and Josie McNamara are producing. Kinberg, a writer and producer of “X-Men” tentpoles, will also produce the film.
The project doesn’t have a home yet, so the creative team will try to sell the film to studios and streamers in the coming weeks. It’s unclear who will play Avengelyne, an angel who fights the forces of evil and often finds herself face-to-face with demons and monsters. Rob Liefeld, best known for bringing to life the Merc with a Mouth, a.k.a. Deadpool, co-created the character of Avengelyne in 1995.

Bob Iger took a victory lap Thursday morning, a day after Disney fended off activist investor Nelson Peltz in a fierce proxy battle. In an interview on CNBC, the CEO said the fight had one positive: getting the company in closer touch with investors as it lobbied hard for its board slate. He also said succession is top of mind and a new CEO would require a decent transition period, as well as commented on current (and perhaps former) adversaries from Ike Perlmutter to Elon Musk and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
Peltz didn’t have much strategically to offer Disney but did successfully press on one big misstep: succession. The billionaire activist investor lost his bid for a board seat, but did get the support of 30% of shareholders at yesterday’s annual meeting. The voting and tally marked the end of a bitter and expensive months-long fight.

Hollywood is filled with unique casting stories but it looks like comedian Bill Burr takes the cake on this one. From making fun of Star Wars during his stand-up performances to playing Migs Mayfeld in The Mandalorian, Bill Burr came a long way. But the question is, why would Star Wars want to cast a man who has been making fun of their extremely popular franchise?
Bill Burr as Migs Mayfeld in The Mandalorian

Disney’s efforts to boost diversity are under attack ahead of a key shareholder vote to elect its board that will shape the direction of the company.
Stephen Miller’s America First Legal foundation, in a letter sent to Disney’s top brass March 27, claims that initiatives to boost diversity and inclusion violate civil rights laws and have tanked the entertainment giant’s value. (Year-to-date, Disney’s stock has risen more than 30 percent.)
The group asks for the appointment of an independent monitor to investigate the issue, inspection of internal records and distribution of the missive to all shareholders in what appears to be a bid to undermine chief executive Bob Iger in a proxy fight against Nelson Peltz.
In recent years, Disney has been criticized by conservatives for adding racially diverse and gay characters in movies. In a Nov. 29 interview at The New York Times‘ DealBook event, weeks after...

Carano shared her side of the story and her opinions on the whole ordeal. Multiple posts were considered sensitive, but she recalls one incident in particular that caused a “massive meltdown” in production. Due to pressure from fans to share her pronouns in support of the transgender community, Carano responded by changing her pronouns to “boop/bop/beep.”
“I was just fed up,” she told the Hollywood Reporter. “So I was like, ‘Fine, I’ll put something in my bio: ‘boop/bop/beep.’ I thought it was cute, like R2-D2.”

In late 2018, Gina Carano — a pioneering mixed martial arts champion who successfully transitioned to acting in Steven Soderbergh’s 2011 film Haywire — was blissfully staring up at the stars. They weren’t actual stars, but digital facsimiles projected onto a massive, domed screen — all part of a groundbreaking new effects technology from Industrial Light & Magic known as the Volume. Gina Carano, who is in the midst of a legal battle with Disney over her firing from The Mandalorian, has signed with a new management firm.
The actress had been repped by UTA, but was dropped in 2021 around the time of the Disney firing. Now Carano will be repped by Rob Weston’s Straightwire Entertainment group, and the actress adds that she’s working on a new television series.
“Rob Weston is the English gentleman who remains calm in any environment and has deep knowledge of this industry, as well as a really unique and keen eye for art and storytelling. I feel relieved to push the refresh button in signing on with Rob, and I am as ambitious as ever in this new chapter of my life and career. We are already actively working on a new television series that I am ecstatic about that is unlike anything I...

In a bid to secure a much-needed cash infusion for his presidential campaign, Donald Trump recently met with the billionaire CEO of Tesla Elon Musk and a small group of affluent Republican donors in Palm Beach, Florida.
The meeting served as an opportunity for Trump to court potential major donors as he prepares for the general election against President Joe Biden.
In February, a staggering $454 million penalty was imposed on Trump as part of his New York civil fraud case. Trump’s legal team, after being denied a $100 million bond, acknowledged in a court filing that he may be compelled to sell properties to secure the necessary funds for the full bond amount unless an emergency stay is granted.
The civil penalty is separate from the $83.3 million sum awarded in the defamation case filed by writer E. Jean Carroll. Additionally, Trump faces the weight of four ongoing criminal cases, further...
