There are a surprising number of horror movies set during World War II. Perhaps because it was such a horrific time for most the World, that horror directors believe it is a good back drop for the genre. This, for whatever reason, usually involves zombies but, unsurprisingly given the title, Ghosts of War centres around ghosts.
We see five American soldiers assigned to hold a French château that was formerly occupied by the Nazi high command. What seems like a relatively easy job, soon turns out anything but as a supernatural presence descends on to the soldiers.
One thing Ghosts of War does feature a lot of is gore. Perhaps because of the subject matter of war,...

Vmi Worldwide has been tempting Croisette buyers with action titles Riot starring Dolph Lundgren and Perfect Weapon with Steven Segal.
Riot falls under the company’s new multi-title production deal with Lundgren and goes out in North America via output partner Cinedigm.
Director John Lyde is in production in Utah on the revenge story about a former police officer who infiltrates a prison to strike at a mob boss. Matthew Reese and Chuck Liddell also star.
“This is now the third time that we’ve had the pleasure and honour to work with action Legend Dolph Lundgren and it’s looking like there will be many more film collaborations to come,” said Vmi president Andre Relis. “We couldn’t be happier to once again be associated with such a professional and inspiring partner.”
Lundgren also stars alongside Mickey Rourke, Liddell and Luke Goss in the WWII action title War Pigs.

It seems that before Osama Bin Laden was killed he ingeniously injected himself with a serum that would bring him back to life as a flesh-eating zombie. His burial at sea (the Arabian Sea?) is short-lived as Osombie (Walter A. Carmona) awakens and swims to the nearest coastline where he attacks a couple of Americans. Back in Afghanistan yoga instructor Dusty (spunky Eve Mauro) is wandering around the desert in search of her brother Derek (game Jasen Wade). Derek was a firefighter who was sick on 9/11 and is haunted by the fact that his co-workers all perished while attempting to evacuate the twin towers. He’s come to Afghanistan to find Bin Laden, whom he believes is still alive because he read it on the internet.

Osombie
Stars: Corey Sevier, Eve Mauro, Jasen Wade, Danielle Chuchran, William Rubio, Matthew Reese, Andrew Hancock | Written by Kurt Hale | Directed by John Lyde
The official synopsis for Osombie goes something like this: “Dusty, a yoga instructor from Colorado, who is on a desperate rescue mission to save her crazy brother Derek, a conspiracy theorist who is convinced Osama Bin Laden is still alive, despite having been buried at sea. In Afghanistan, Dusty falls in with a team of Nato Special Forces on a secret assignment. Turns out Derek is not so crazy after all, and that Osama has returned from his watery grave and is making an army of zombie terrorists. When the group crashes headlong into the growing zombie apocalypse, Dusty and the troops must find and destroy the root of the zombie insurgency before it infests the rest of the world.” However the film can be summed up more succinctly than that,...

If you can forgive John Lyde and Matthew Reese their lack of resources, then “The Eleventh Hour” is not a bad way to spend 90 minutes. It’s actually a very good action film, and had the duo been in possession of, say, 10% of your average Hollywood budget, they could have produced something special. Alas, the (lack of) budget is a major source of constraint for the duo, and so instead of a globe-hopping thriller about an ex-Navy Seal who returns home shattered and broken, only to have his past come back to grab him by the throat and send him off on an assassination run, we instead have a film set in an unnamed Midwestern town where, it would appear, running gunfights that last the better part of the day don’t get reported. “The Eleventh Hour” stars Matthew Reese as Michael Adams, a former Navy Seal who, during a...
