This article contains spoilers for Better Call Saul through season 6 episode 10.
Better Call Saul is one of the most artistically creative shows in television history. The use of camera angles, accompanying musical pieces, and color has set a standard that other shows will be trying to match for years to come. The way the series is directed makes it feel like you’re watching a true cinematic masterpiece, because you are.
The method of storytelling that Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould have really honed in on better than anyone else in recent memory is the montage. These edited pieces of film usually show many of the show’s fantastic characters doing different activities, but they are shown at the same time. It’s a great way to understand multiple perspectives of the same event that is happening, and we thought now would be a great time to count down some...

The “Dancing with the Stars” finale is here, and no matter who wins, the Mvp will definitely be Nelly.
As previously announced, the rapper will perform a medley of his greatest hits in addition to, you know, competing for the Mirrorball. On the docket are his classics “Ride Wit Me” and “Hot in Herre,” and his latest single “Lil Bit” with Florida Georgia Line. Let’s hope “Dilemma” makes it so we can all roast him and Kelly Rowland for texting via Microsoft Excel again. Never gets old. Daniella Karagach and her hubby, Pasha Pashkov, will dance while Nelly performs, so they can totally reenact this Excel extravaganza.
The final four couples will perform two numbers: a repeat of their favorite dance of the season and the freestyle. Kaitlyn Bristowe and Nev Schulman are redoing dances for which they received 30s, so there’s nowhere to go but down. But...

Scarlett Johansson and a star cast of animated animals belt out wall-to-wall pop hits in a formulaic film from Son of Rambow’s Garth Jennings which will entertain kids and parents
To many of us, “formulaic” is a negative term. But for mainstream family entertainment destined to live a franchise life after the initial film has long left the theatres, working within a well-worn structure is the key to success. Sing, from Illumination (the animation company that made Minions), feels less like a movie than a genetic mutation developed in a laboratory. It has just the right measurements of simple humour, heart, kawaii-levels of cuteness, zany chase sequences, fart jokes and catchy tunes. The sales pitch – American Idol but in a world like Zootopia – is one of those “why didn’t I think of that?” home runs. But that’s only part of it. Sing is structured like a jukebox musical,...

A review of tonight's Better Call Saul coming up just as soon as I do the Carol Burnett thing with my ear... "You don't save me. I save me." -Kim What an oddly structured show Better Call Saul can be at times. Throughout the series, Jimmy and Mike rarely interact — or do it briefly, as happens here when Jimmy expresses concern about Mike's battered face — and are moving through stories with completely different tones, usually featuring different characters (though both of them have run afoul of Tuco and Nacho at some point), and at times feeling like different genres. Their lives and stories are destined to become far more entwined, but at the moment, Jimmy's in a legal dramedy and Mike's not only in a hard-boiled crime show, but one that for now has much more of a direction connection to Breaking Bad. Saul is far from the...

Charlie Brown wants to be a winner this November, when the CGI Peanuts movie comes out. He's got snowmen to play baseball with, people to prove wrong, and a little red-haired girl to win over. Truthfully, he looks pretty darn sad, but luckily, his Bff Snoopy will be there to help — mostly in the form of dancing to the Gipsy Kings and wearing sunglasses.

Los Angeles — You might not know who Shep Gordon is, but you've certainly felt his impact. As a manager extraordinaire who has shepherded the careers of everyone from Alice Cooper and Teddy Pendergrass to Emeril Lagasse and Wolfgang Puck, Gordon has had a wild ride. He was there for the early rock explosion, not just rubbing shoulders with people like Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix, but working with them, figuring out the business of show with a whole crop of exciting artists as a defining fixture of that bedrock. Naturally, then, someone was going to be interested in trying to capture that presence in a film. But Gordon's is a life that extends beyond entertainment, which of course makes it all the more fascinating. He maintains a friendship with the Dalai Lama, for instance (though he would say he's merely of service to His Holiness). He's also an expert storyteller,...

The Coen brothers excel at creating excellent soundtracks for their films. A good soundtrack can be the difference between a scene falling flat or becoming an unforgettable cinematic moment; where would the helicopter scene from Apocalypse Now be without Wagner’s Ride of the Valkyries blaring out of the speakers?
Longtime Coen-collaborator Carter Burwell has composed music for almost every one of the brothers’ films and while his work is always good, the Coens really come into their element when they choose pre-existing music for their scores. So well is this music integrated that you forget the song wasn’t composed solely for that film, creating some truly iconic moments.
Few filmmakers are as skilled as the Coen brothers at building their movies around the music they use. Often their soundtracks feel natural, and so fitting that films like O Brother, Where Art Thou? and The Big Lebowski effortlessly seem...

With 2010 almost over, Glen rounds up his favourite movie songs of the year…
With the year drawing to a close I thought I’d draw my first year of Music In The Movies to a close in the same way it started – with a look back at the best movie songs of the year…
Sonny Terry – Old Lost John
Bad Lieutenant: Port Of Call – New Orleans
This accompanies one of the crazier scenes in Werner Herzog’s exploration of excess, and that’s saying something. The film is wonderfully entertaining, as Herzog unleashes his unique creative sensibilities to tackle many aspects of the film in unconventional ways. This particular scene, the “His soul is still dancing” scene, really is quite remarkable, and this crazy song from Sonny Terry provides a great accompaniment.
The Used – The Bird And The Worm
Clash Of The Titans

As Toy Story 3 arrives on DVD and Blu-ray, we take a timely look back at the work of its composer, Randy Newman...
With the release of Toy Story 3 on Blu-ray and DVD, I thought now would be an ideal time to look back at the work of Randy Newman.
Newman is best known nowadays for his film scores, and specifically his work for Disney/Pixar, but prior to embarking on his composing career he was a singer/songwriter. His work as a solo artist in the 70s featured a caustic wit running through much of his material.
His move to composing could be seen as an inevitable one, as his uncles were both composers for film. Newman has managed to firmly establish himself as one of the finest composers and songwriters working in the medium today, earning fourteen Oscar nominations throughout his career so far.

Highlight of anti-bullying episode is Artie and Puck's performance of 'One Love/ People Get Ready.'

There's certainly been no shortage of show-stopping numbers on the second season of "Glee" thus far. From the "Time Warp" finale in the "Rocky Horror Picture Show" episode to Amber Riley's take on Simon and Garfunkel's goose-bump inducing "Bridge Over Troubled Water," gleeks have gotten their fill of the big numbers that made the show such a hit in the first place. But that's not to say there hasn't been a place for more low-key numbers this season too. Stripped-down and acoustic covers of ditties like Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat's "Lucky" have proven that less can be more.

Mena Suvari says married life is going "great". The "American Beauty" actress tied the knot with music promoter Simone Sestito in May and loves the fact she is now settled down and happy.
"It's going great. The best thing about it is that it's so relaxed in a sense," she told Us Magazine. "You are kind of settled and comfortable, and I'm ready to be at that point in my life so it's nice."
One of Mena and Simone's most popular pastimes is to play cards together. She said, "We travel and gamble! We play poker together really well! He is good. He is better than me!"
Following their May nuptials, the couple said they were delighted to have tied the knot in Rome. They said, "Rome is the true city of romance, and to be able to wed in the Eternal City is all we could have asked for this occasion.

Mena Suvari was delighted to marry "in the city of romance". The "American Beauty" actress, who tied the knot with music promoter Simone Sestito on Saturday, June 26, thinks their venue choices of Santo Stefano degli Abissini, an 8th-century church in Vatican City, for the service and Castello Odescalchi, a 15th-century castle in nearby Bracciano, for the reception were the perfect places to start their life together.
The couple told People magazine, "Rome is the true city of romance, and to be able to wed in the Eternal City is all we could have asked for this occasion." Mena and her 25-year-old spouse described the service as "very traditional and romantic", with a string quartet, organist and soprano performing as the 31-year-old actress walked down the aisle, wearing an Alice and Olivia dress with Claudia Ciuti shoes and Nova Diamonds earrings.

Mena Suvari and Simone Sestito had plenty of history around them as they started a new chapter with their wedding on Saturday. The couple were married at Santo Stefano degli Abissini, an 8th-century church in Vatican City and held their reception at Castello Odescalchi, a 15th-century castle in nearby Bracciano - the same castle where Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes were married in 2006. What do the world-famous Gipsy Kings, "Toy Story 3" and "Dancing With the Stars" all have in common?
The Gipsy Kings sang "Toy Story's" signature song "You've Got a Friend in Me" Tuesday (May 11) on "Dwts." Their version of the song will be featured in Disney/Pixar's "Toy Story 3," released June 18.
As for the "Dwts" connection?
The team behind "Toy Story 3" contacted "Dwts" to get a little help with a Spanish-themed animated dance scene between Buzz ("Spanish Buzz," that is) and Jessie.
"Dwts" sent a couple of their best Latin choreographers, Cheryl Burke and Tony Dovolani, over to Pixar studios to help them out (side note: Disney owns ABC, home of "Dancing With the Stars"). The pro dancers performed a paso doble to the Gipsy King's version of "You've Got a Friend in Me," which the "Toy Story 3" animators used as their inspiration for the characters' dance.

Niecy Nash joked about her "jiggly parts" throughout her run on "Dancing With the Stars," but the actress and TV host was shaken out of the ballroom Tuesday. She came into the results show in last place, with 43 points out of 60 for her two dances. Judges on the hit ABC show praised the Viennese waltz she performed with professional partner Louis Van Amstel on Monday's episode, but they criticized the couple's paso doble."You looked unsteady," judge Bruno Tonioli said. "This wasn't very good."Nash was nervous before the results show, tweeting, "The tension is thick but I'm prayed up and ready for whatever God has planned." Still, she beamed throughout the episode."I am a 40-year-old mother of three. I've got three C-sections under my belt," she said. "I was able to survive in this competition...

The Gipsy Kings impressed a packed crowd Sunday night at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
The band, known in Europe for its "gitano" music, and in America for their expressive cover of the Eagles' 'Hotel California,' jammed with an eclectic crowd at the Hard Rock Live. The audience was a testament to their staying power as a musical icon, with fans from three generations dancing in the aisles.
They played classics like 'Djobi Djoba' and 'Un Amor' during an hour-long performance that included solos from each of the band's members. After they left, the crowd stayed put, begging for an encore. The Gipsy Kings returned to the stage and rocked an extended version of their signature tune 'Bamboleo' to a standing ovation.

The Olivier Awards -- London's equivalent to the Tony Awards -- were dominated by home-grown winners when the 33rd edition of the kudos unwrapped Sunday night in an event hosted by James Nesbitt at Grosvenor House.
Only one of the top awards went to an American production, as the 2006 Tony best musical champ "Jersey Boys" took the tuner prize. The show, which recounts the story of the Four Seasons using their songs, prevailed against only one other contender -- "Zorro," a telling of the old tale set to the music of the Gipsy Kings.
The 2008 Tony-winning best play "August: Osage County" was bested by Gregory Burke's drama "Black Watch," while its leading lady -- the Tony-winning Deanna Dunagan -- lost to Margaret Tyzack for a revival of "The Chalk Garden." That production of the 1955 Enid Bagnold psychological drama, which also won lighting design, originated at the Donmar Warehouse. That...
