Bob Dylan isn’t a singer who has written many top-10 charting singles. He’s never concerned himself with writing pop hits, but he also releases songs often longer than most hit singles. However, even Bob Dylan thought he got carried away when he wrote this song that lasted more than 10 minutes.
Bob Dylan thinks he got ‘carried away’ when he wrote ‘Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands’
“Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands” was the final track of Dylan’s 1966 album Blonde on Blonde, and it took up the entire fourth side of the album. It’s an overwhelming song that lasts around 11 minutes and 23 seconds. In Dylan’s 1976 song, “Sara”, he confirmed this track was written for his first wife, Sara Dylan.
Dylan has had mixed feelings toward the song throughout his career. At one point, he believed it was the “best song” he’d ever written. However,...

Bob Dylan has been relatively tight-lipped about the people he has dated. He has had multiple romantic relationships, though.

Long before he was famous, Dylan was a high school student in Minnesota who had fallen in love with his classmate. He wrote many love letters to his then-girlfriend, Barbara Ann Hewitt.

In 1978, nearly two decades into an already illustrious career, Bob Dylan released the movie Renaldo and Clara. Dylan wrote and starred in the film, which combined concert footage, interviews, and fiction. It was not well received. Many critics panned the film, with one even going so far as to say he wished Dylan had died before he had the chance to make it. This type of reaction begs the question: do we expect too much of Dylan?

During Dylan’s 1975 Rolling Thunder Revue tour, the musician decided to shoot a film. He partnered with playwright Sam Shepard to write a script, but Shepard admitted they didn’t get far.

Bob Dylan and George Harrison built a strong friendship that saw the two writing and performing songs together. One song written by Dylan was recorded by both himself and Harrison on separate projects in different arrangements. The two later played the song together in a rare performance that is hard to find.

“If Not For You” is a song from Dylan’s 1970 album New Morning. Dylan wrote the track as a love song for his first wife, Sara Dylan. It was part of a series of tracks Dylan wrote about his commitment to family and life’s simple pleasures. Dylan commented on the track in the 1980s, saying it came off as “kind of folky.”
“It seemed simple enough, sort of Tex-Mex,” Dylan said. “I would never explore all the...

Martin Scorsese continues his long, strong tradition of music-focused docs by focusing once more on Bob Dylan, but don’t expect something kin with his more strait-laced (and excellent all the same) No Direction Home. Variety have learned that Netflix will, this year, unveil Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story by Martin Scorsese, described as “part documentary, part concert film, part fever dream” that “captures the troubled spirit of America in 1975″ and earns the designation of “story” rather than “portrait” or some such. Appearing in one of his only interviews this decade, Dylan is joined by “many of the alumni of that period” — a list that could, reasonably, include Joan Baez, Sam Shepard, Joni Mithcell, T-Bone Burnett, Ringo Starr, and Patti Smith. While no one is confirmed — to say nothing of the fact that Shepard died in 2017 — the film has apparently been in development for some number of years,...

Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) may have moved up in the world, but she seems to have regressed when it comes to her personality. In fact, day by day, she starts to resemble another spoiled and power-hungry despot that we’ve seen on “Game of Thrones” before: Her late son, Joffrey (Jack Gleeson).
This would explain so much, though. While her kids Myrcella and Tommen were kind of sweet (perhaps taking after Jaime, who is a fool for love and shows signs of a conscience), Joffrey was the bad egg, rotten to the core, and without any redeeming qualities. At the time, he had seemed like an anomaly, the twisted result of the DNA lottery that comes with inbreeding. But now that Cersei the Queen Mother has become the sole monarch, Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Protector of Westeros, she’s been exhibiting signs that make it clear...

Touted as the UK’s answer to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Gnaw (just out on U.S. DVD from Dark Sky) shares many elements with its illustrious predecessor. Both feature a group of attractive teens intent on a relaxing vacation in the country. Both contain the horror-staple image of a girl running down a road with her attacker in hot pursuit. Both films’ villains are cannibalistic in nature. But while Gnaw works to follow these established rules, it also deviates frequently from the well-traveled path of its subgenre.
The setup is rather conventional: Six friends travel deep into the country for a little R&R, only to find themselves stalked by a lumbering, ominously large pitchfork-wielding maniac (Gary Faulkner). As if a Breakfast Club reunion were taking place, all stereotypes are present, with each actor playing their part to a T. We have the overbearing ice queen (Rachel Mitchem), the...

Variety reports that Mpi Media has picked up U.S. rights to the British shocker Gnaw from Jinga Films. The film will presumably go out under the company’s genre banner, Dark Sky Films.
Directed by Gregory Mandry from a script by Michael Bell and Max Waller, Gnaw is a black-comic terror tale in which six travelers in the British countryside intrude on an apparently unoccupied house, and run afoul of a clan of cannibals who want to make the friends their next meal. The cast includes Sara Dylan, Oliver Lee Squires, Rachel Mitchem, Nigel Croft Adams, Julie Vandoome, Hiram Bleetman, Jennifer Wren, Carrie Cohen and Gary Faulkner. “This is British horror at its most base, vile and rude; fans will love it,” Mpi’s Greg Newman tells the trade. Gnaw is set to screen at Portugal’s prestigious Fantasporto festival, running February 20-March 1. You can see the movie’s...
