- When nonfiction storytelling became a permanent fixture in the advertising world, award winning filmmaker Mark Imgrund had already been leading the charge in documentary-driven work for global brand films and commercial content.
Finding authentic and truthful moments in verite footage, also makes it easy for Imgrund to land on genuine storytelling in narrative projects, as well as in comedy and in biopic/historical films. Imgrund's projects finish for broadcast, theatrical release, digital and mobile content across all platforms.
His long form work includes Sundance features, Netflix original documentary series, and films that have premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, SXSW, Sun Valley Film Festival and Mountain Film in Telluride.
Mark started his editing career working in New York with influential editor Laura Israel, who collaborated with Robert Frank, Lou Reed, Harris Savides, David Byrne and many other iconic New York artists. He launched his west coast career at Spot Welders where he worked on projects directed by Spike Jonze, Mike Mills, Mark Romanek, Sam Bayer, and Tarsem. His documentary collaborators include Academy Award winners Barbara Kopple, Jessica Yu and Angus Wall; as well as Oscar nominees Rory Kennedy and "Hoop Dreams" director, Steve James. In 2020 Imgrund's Netflix Documentary series "Kevin Hart: Don't F**ck This Up" was nominated for an Emmy Award. In 2021, Imgrund edited "Amend: The Fight For America", a 6 part documentary series for Netflix, directed by Kenny Leon and Reinaldo Marcus Green, featuring a unique hybrid storytelling structure with narrative actor monologues. Imgrund wrote and edited Alice Gu's "Really Good Rejects", a feature length documentary about the power of music. "Really Good Rejects" is from the producers of "Summer of Soul" and premiered at SXSW in 2022. In 2023, Netflix's "Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal" was released and earned Mark an editing nomination in the category of Outstanding Picture Editing For A Nonfiction Program.
