“Santa Clarita Diet” fans are in an uproar over Netflix’s decision to cancel their zombie-mom series on Friday. The Drew Barrymore–Timothy Olyphant single-camera comedy ended its third season on a huge cliffhanger, with — Spoiler Alert — Joel apparently becoming undead after Sheila bit him to prevent his being possessed by her zombie spider, aka Mr. Ball Legs. Now fans are worried that they’ll never learn any answers to the show’s biggest mysteries — that is, unless Netflix decides to greenlight a wrap-up “Santa Clarita Diet” TV movie.

True love may never die in the living dead horror comedy Santa Clarita Diet, but the series itself looks to be coming to an end, as Netflix has canceled the show after three seasons.
Multiple sources, including The Hollywood Reporter, confirm the cancellation news surrounding Santa Clarita Diet, which just premiered its third season on Netflix on March 29th.
Since its premiere in 2017, Santa Clarita Diet (created by Victor Fresco) has followed Sheila Hammond (Drew Barrymore), a real estate agent who finds her life turned upside down when she becomes a zombie with a ravenous appetite for human flesh. Aided by her husband, Joel (Timothy Olyphant), her daughter, Abby (Liv Hewson), and neighbor, Eric (Skyler Gisondo), Sheila finds that when you become one of the living dead, life is far from over, it's just beginning... albeit with more blood and guts.

“Santa Clarita Diet” isn’t getting a fourth season. Less than a month after the zombie-themed sitcom’s third season launched, Netflix has canceled the show starring Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant.

Santa Clarita Diet Season 4 won't be crawling out of the grave anytime soon. Netflix has announced that it is opting not to renew its zom-rom-com series for a fourth season, effectively cancelling it. Deadline first reported the news.
Santa Clarita Diet is a fascinating comedy/drama/zombie hybrid from creator Victor Fresco. It stars Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant as suburban married couple and real estate agents Sheila and Joel Hammond. It just so happens that Sheila is also an undead monster who craves the taste of human flesh.

"I wanna be about more than just eating people, but I also really enjoy eating people." Sheila and Joel Hammond return in the season 3 trailer for Santa Clarita Diet, and this time, in addition to nosy neighbors (who could end up on Sheila's menu) they also have to figure out if they want to spend eternity together (which would require Joel to be turned into one of the living dead).
Below, you can watch the new trailer for Santa Clarita Diet Season 3, which will arrive on Netflix on March 29th.

The Hammonds will have a big decision to make when “Santa Clarita Diet” returns for Season 3.
In a new trailer released on Monday for the Netflix comedy, Sheila (Drew Barrymore) and Joel (Timothy Olyphant) are finally faced with an uncomfortable truth about Sheila’s existence as a zombie — she’s going to outlive everyone she loves.
And while Joel has already proven his undying dedication to Sheila many times over — keeping her secret, searching for a cure, hunting Nazis for her to eat — will he finally go all the way and become undead himself?

Sought-after multi-camera episodic director Victor Gonzalez has made an exclusive development arrangement with Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment. Under the pact, Gonzalez via his Fortaleza Productions and Kapital’s Kaplan and Dana Honor will focus on content for the underserved Latino market, developing Latino-based multi-camera comedy series for broadcast, cable and streaming.
Gonzalez and Kaplan met more than five years ago when Gonzalez directed multiple episodes of two of Kaplan’s first series as a producer, Instant Mom and Wendell & Vinnie for Nick at Nite. Gonzalez has since helmed episodes of two other Kapital multi-camera series, CBS’ Friends with Better Lives and 9Jk.
After directing 5 episodes, about a third of the entire 9Jkl’s first-season order, this past season, Gonzalez is set to direct five episodes each of the initial 13-episode orders of Kapital’s two new multi-camera series for next season, The Neighborhood and Fam, both on CBS.

Santa Clarita Diet appears to be a regimen that Netflix plans to maintain. The zombie comedy, starring Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant, received generally favorable responses to the March-launched Season 2 and Netflix does not get in the habit of canceling shows unless they are disastrously unpopular.
Consequently, Santa Clarita Diet Season 3 is returning for another round of 10 episodes.

YouTube Red has inked a deal with a creative team best known for their work on another Svod service. It has given a pilot order to Widow, a dark comedy whose writer and executive producers previously joined forces for the Netflix series Santa Clarita Diet.
Widow will tell the story of a woman whose husband "dies while they're in the middle of a rough patch," according to Deadline. Its scribe, Leila Cohan-Miccio (pictured above) was also the writer for Santa Clarita Diet. Widow executive producers Tracy Katsky and Aaron Kaplan previously produced the Netflix dark comedy, where premiered earlier this year to generally positive reviews.
Though YouTube Red's first slate of original programs all had ties to the YouTube community, some recent projects released through the subscription platform have more closely resembled the typical Hollywood model. As YouTube Red shifts its strategy, it is giving plenty of opportunities to young female writers.

Allow Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant to clue you in on the miraculous (read: horrifying) Santa Clarita Diet in these two new promos for Netflix’s upcoming original series.
Proving the couple that slays together, stays together, the videos begin like any other regular infomercial, with Barrymore and Olyphant addressing the camera – the audience – against a sheer white background. The former gushes about how she’s able to satisfy all her cravings while on the Santa Clarita diet, while a nervy Olyphant recreates one particular incident where his significant other unleashed her wrath, killed another person in the park and then had he/she for dinner.
Yes, as you’ve no doubt already gathered, the Santa Clarita Diet involves cannibalism – and lots of it. Olyphant and Barrymore play a married couple of realtors named Joel and Sheila, who lead “vaguely disconnected lives in the Los Angeles suburb of Santa Clarita.
