One of ESPN’s most senior executives is leaving the sports giant.
Norby Williamson, a 40-year ESPN veteran who was the head of events and studio production, will leave the company Friday, ESPN president of content Burke Magnus wrote in a memo to staff.
“Almost 40 years ago in 1985, I was so very fortunate to be offered an opportunity at ESPN. Due to the exceptional hard work, creativity and commitment of the people of ESPN, and to a much lesser extent my contributions, I’d like to think we’ve left our great company in a far better place than we found it,” Williamson said in a statement.
Magnus also thanked Williamson for his time with the company and the contributions to its content. A source notes that Magnus took over the top content job at the company a year ago, and that there just wasn’t an alignment on strategy,...

Norby Williamson, the ESPN veteran who has managed everything from NFL coverage to “SportsCenter,” is leaving the Disney sports-media giant abruptly just weeks after being called out on camera in a surprise and unprecedented outburst by daytime host Pat McAfee.
The McAfee contretemps is not at the root of Williamson’s departure, according to a person familiar with the matter, but rather disagreements between the executive and the longer-term strategy being devised by Burke Magnus, who was handed oversight of content and news production in March of last year.

Independent presidential candidate Rober F. Kennedy Jr. has little chance of winning the 2024 election, but that isn’t stopping him from weighing in on the de facto Republican and Democratic nominees: former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden.
On Monday, Kennedy told CNN that — in his view — Biden represents a bigger threat to American democracy than Trump, who attempted to overturn his election loss in 2020.
Burnett: When people talk about the threat to democracy that Trump poses, do you really think that that is as equal to Biden?

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has selected Silicon Valley attorney turned philanthropist Nicole Shanahan as his running mate in an early-announcement move as the independent presidential hopeful seeks to get his name on ballots in all 50 states for his White House bid.
Kennedy, son of the former U.S. attorney general and senator from New York who was assassinated in 1968, announced that Shanahan would join his campaign at a rally in Oakland on Tuesday. The announcement of a running mate decision this early is a strategic move that looks to assuage some of the concerns around his ballot access in half of the country.
“Nicole has put her interest aside and made the momentous and very, very difficult decision to embark with me on this extraordinary crusade to win back our country,” Kennedy said while introducing Shanahan as his running mate. After being introduced by his wife, actress Cheryl Hines, Kennedy told supporters that he wanted someone “I wanted someone with a spiritual dimension, and compassion, and idealism, and above all a deep love of the United States of America.” He said that Shanahan was also a “brilliant scientist, technologist, a fierce warrior mom.”

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers wasn’t playing around when he got the opportunity to host Jeopardy!
Following the passing of legendary Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek in 2020, the show’s producers were left with an important decision to make: who to name as his replacement.
Many Jeopardy! viewers assumed that the current host, Ken Jennings, would automatically become Alex’s replacement, but that wasn’t the case.
Producers decided it would be best to test out guest hosts to get an idea of who would make the best permanent host on Jeopardy!
Several different would-be hosts tried out for the coveted spot, including some big names such as Katie Couric, Anderson Cooper, Robin Roberts, and Mayim Bialik.
Producer Mike Richards was one of the guest hosts, and during a recent chat with People, he opened up about his short-lived hosting gig as well as the other guest hosts.

Former Jeopardy! producer Mike Richards is finally talking about what went wrong for him in his ill-fated stint as host two years ago.
Richards was announced as the full-time replacement for the late Alex Trebek in 2021. He lasted just one day before resigning after questions arose about his conduct.
“We never discussed how to replace Alex once we knew he was sick,” Richards told People in a new interview. “A conversation like that would have been so disrespectful. We had talked about people coming in and guest hosting if Alex got too sick. But we always knew Alex would come back until the day he decided he couldn’t.”
Trebek died of pancreatic cancer in November 2020. At that point, several guest hosts were brought in as executives struggled to determine who would be the host.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has decided on a vice presidential running mate from a short list that includes NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers and former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura. According to his campaign manager, Kennedy is close to announcing his pick.
Other prospective candidates include Sen. Rand Paul (R-Kentucky), former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard and motivational speaker Tony Robbins, according to two anonymous people with knowledge of the campaign.
Not everyone on Kennedy’s list has agreed to run with him. Paul said that he would decline an offer to be on the presidential ticket.
“I’m supportive of his ability to have a platform to speak out,” Paul said. “I think he’s saying a lot of good things. But I have no plans to get involved in the campaign.”
Similarly, Gabbard has stopped cooperating with Kennedy’s campaign and has seemingly turned her attention to former President Donald Trump’s.

Note: LateNighter generally posts late night daily ratings on a two (business) day delay, which is how they are released by Nielsen.
ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! was the most-watched late-night show on Thursday, March 14, in the key 18-49 demo.
Kimmel, who rarely beats both CBS and NBC competition in the demo, likely benefited from Aaron Rodgers being back in the news for reportedly having espoused the belief that the kids murdered in the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting were “crisis actors” (the Qb promptly sought to clarify the Thursday CNN report). Whenever Rodgers, Kimmel’s nemesis, ends up in the news for the wrong reasons, it helps the ABC late-night host, and Kimmel teed off on the New York Jets star in his Thursday monologue.
The 230,000 P18-49 viewer average for Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday is up +39% from the day before.

A consultant for Robert Kennedy Jr.’s 2024 campaign registered the website for Kennedy and his potential vice presidential selection, New York Jets quarterback and fellow vaccine skeptic Aaron Rodgers, according to digital records reviewed by Rolling Stone.
Kennedy recently told The New York Times that Rodgers was on his shortlist for vice president — though he appeared to pop that trial balloon on Friday. “We have an extraordinary person, I can’t tell you who it is, but it’s not any of the people they’ve been talking about,” the candidate told supporters.

There have been rumors that New York Jets’ quarterback Aaron Rodgers might be part of the Presidential campaign for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. With those rumors come reports of things that Rodgers said in the past about several things. Rodgers has been outspoken about his belief in conspiracy theories for years and this includes the Sandy Hook school shooting.
However, Rodgers is walking back those comments now. Here is what the NFL quarterback and possible politician had to say about the horrific school shooting.
Aaron Rodgers Releases Statement About Sandy Hook
On December 14, 2012, a school shooting at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut shook the nation. The shooting left 26 people dead, including 20 young children. It was the deadliest mass shooting at an elementary school in United States history. However, there were some people led by Alex Jones who claimed the shooting was faked.
Jones claimed there was no school shooting.

On Thursday, Rodgers responded to a CNN report featuring interviews with two individuals — including CNN’s Pamela Brown — who told the outlet that the Super Bowl champion claimed Sandy Hook was staged. “Sandy Hook never happened … All those children never existed.

Robert Kennedy Jr. confirmed to The New York Times that NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers and former Minnesota governor and professional wrestler Jesse Ventura were on the top of his shortlist to serve as his running mate in his independent presidential bid.
Rodgers, who shares Kennedy’s opposition to the covid vaccine, would be an unconventional choice, to say the least, as he is still an active NFL player, expected to start for the New York Jets this fall.
Ventura, who served one term as Minnesota governor, has in the past considered his own independent presidential bid. Since leaving office, he has hosted a reality television series focused on conspiracy theories, but he urged people to get the vaccine during the covid crisis, and even bemoaned those who did not wear masks. He introduced Kennedy at a voter rally in Arizona last month.

Jimmy Kimmel left his usual late-night beefs off the Oscar stage tonight, ignoring Trump, Santos, Aaron Rodgers to focus entirely on Hollywood’s big night, with only one not-so-veiled political jab included in a mostly gentle opening segment.

Not to worry, he added, “We’ll still end very, very late.”
The comedian took an early swipe at flop Madame Web, saying, “This night is full of enormous talent, and untold potential, but so was Madame Web.”

The top players in the NFL make more money than most people can ever imagine making in a lifetime and the list of the top-paid players of the year has been revealed.
It was revealed last summer that Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert signed a new contract that made him the top paid player for the 2023 to 2024 NFL season.
Aaron Rodgers, who was injured and out for most of the season, signed a new deal with the New York Jets and he took a pay cut.
All of these players can earn even more money through endorsements, but these numbers are just for their salaries from the team.

Dana White has come under fire for several controversies over the years. The most recent backlash was for defending UFC fighter Sean Strickland’s “freedom of speech” in anti-lgbtq+ comments.
While appearing on The Pat McAfee Show, the titular host asked White about the controversy as he has also recently faced backlash over comments made by NFL star Aaron Rodgers.
“When I said I didn’t believe in 95% of what he said, I was talking about 95% of what he said up there,” White said on the ESPN show about Strickland’s comments during the press conference earlier this year. “Obviously, the two girls that were in the co-main event, he said horrible things about them, which there’s no need for that. They’ve never done anything to him. But this is what he does.”
He continued, “At the end of the day, he’s entitled to his own opinion...

Only in 2024 could a chart-topping country singer’s relationship with a star football player be viewed by major news outlets as a mission to control Americans.
In the U.S., Taylor Swift is nothing if not monoculture, regularly breaking records with her juggernaut “Eras Tour,” the theatrical version of the show and her records, all of which were ubiquitous in 2023. Yet her fame permeated a whole new segment of pop culture when she began dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and soon became a fixture at his games, creating a weekly online firestorm analyzing her outfits, their body language and the typical minutiae of being in a relationship.
Yet a bizarre branch of media coverage began in the weeks leading up to the Chiefs besting the Baltimore Ravens, earning a spot playing against the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl: Some posited that Swift’s movement into...

Jon Stewart to Return as Daily Show Host: Can an Election Year Help Late Night Break Out of Its Rut?
Earlier this month, New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers bizarrely predicted that Jimmy Kimmel would be one of the celebrities whose name would appear on the list of Jeffrey Epstein's associates.
However, when the list was eventually made public, Kimmel's name was nowhere to be found.
But not surprisingly, the comic took great offense at Rodgers' allegation, and he berated the football legend-turned-conspiracy theorist in a series of scathing monologues and social media posts.
It was a bizarre series of events that served to highlight the bitter political divisions that have recently torn the US population in two.
It was also the most interesting thing to happen in the world of late-night comedy since Jay Leno kicked Conan O'Brien out of the Tonight Show chair.
Today saw another intriguing development in the world of post-prime time talk shows, as Showtime and MTV Entertainment Studios announced that Jon Stewart will...

Quarterback Jared Goff was selected by the Los Angeles Rams with the first pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. After spending five seasons with the team and reaching the Super Bowl Liii, Goff was unexpectedly traded to the Detroit Lions.
The move sent Goff to a franchise that wasn’t a championship contender but a team that had been being down and out year after year. However, that changed in the 2023 season when the signal-caller led the Lions to playoffs and the team’s first-ever NFC North title.
Now fans want to know all about the athlete who lifted the spirits of an entire fan base and city. Here’s more on Goff and his fiancée Christen Harper.

By 2018, Will Compton, a 28-year-old backup linebacker on a one-year contract with the Tennessee Titans, knew his playing days were numbered. Contemplating a career after football, he considered going into real estate or coaching but couldn’t muster much enthusiasm for either. Driving home after a game one evening, he called Taylor Lewan, an offensive tackle for the Titans and his closest friend on the team, with whom he’d just done a postgame segment on Titans Radio. The two, who had bonded over their fondness for podcasts like The Joe Rogan Experience, had undeniable chemistry on the air, and the experience got them thinking about starting their own podcast. For Lewan, who had just signed a six-year deal with the Titans, it sounded like a fun time. For Compton, it was a go-for-broke career plan. The following year, they launched Bussin’ With the Boys.

Chelsea Handler referenced ex-boyfriend’s Jo Koy’s disastrous Golden Globes performance during her opening monologue as host of the Critics Choice Awards on Sunday.
In a nod to Koy repeatedly throwing his writers under the bus while delivering his poorly received Globes monologue, Handler — after confessing her fondness for older men — cracked, “Unfortunately Martin Scorsese isn’t here tonight, but that’s not going to stop me from letting everyone in this room know that I would toss him around like a little Italian meatball. Thank you for laughing at that, my writers wrote it.” (Watch the moment above.

Ladies and gentlemen, it appears Aaron Rodgers, who’s taken a grand total of four snaps as quarterback of the New York Jets, has lost his mind.

New York Jets injured quarterback Aaron Rodgers went on the Pat McAfee Show to deny that he called late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel a pedophile in a previous interview.
Rodgers stated on Tuesday’s show, “I don’t think he’s a P word.”
In an effort to explain that comment, he stated, “I was referring to the fact that if there’s a list and there are names on it, that it’d be the second time a soft-brained, junior college wacko … whatever other things have been said by him and other people in the media — would be right twice. I totally understand how serious an allegation of pedophilia would be … I’m not stupid enough to accuse you of that with zero evidence.”
Last week, Rodgers was on the same show when he not-so-subtly suggested that Kimmel might have ties to the late New York financier and convicted sex trafficker Jeffery Epstein.

One day after Pat McAfee announced that Aaron Rodgers would not return on his sports talk show for the rest of the season, the football star made a surprise appearance to discuss NFL developments including Nick Saban’s retirement and Bill Belichick’s departure from the New England Patriots.
McAfee on Thursday suggested he received backlash for booting the NFL star off of his show. “That was wild, we were getting absolutely killed,” he said. “They were like, ‘You turned your back on Aaron Rodgers!’ Do you know how many things I’ve been through with Aaron Rodgers in our short relationship? I was not pumped to be in the middle of any of that.”
Before Rodgers returned, McAfee wrote in a lengthy post on X Wednesday night, “I never said he’ll never be on the show again. I hope he chooses to still chat with us.”

Aaron Rodgers made a return to The Pat McAfee Show a day after host Pat McAfee said the NFL star had completed his fourth season on the show.
Rodgers made an appearance on the ESPN show to give his take on Bill Belichick moving on from the New England Patriots.

As Rodgers appeared on screen, the Super Bowl champ asked if they could see him, with McAfee telling him he looked “fantastic” and “clearer than wherever you usually call us from.” Rodgers said he was “out here in the woods” as he confirmed his “off-season” had started.

A stunning new report details more than a decade of fraudulent Sports Emmy submissions by ESPN that resulted in wrongfully obtained awards for the network’s on-air personalities.
In an exposé published Thursday by The Athletic, a sports-centric subdivision of The New York Times, it’s reported that since at least 2007 — but possibly dating as far back as 1997 — ESPN circumvented an Emmys rule that prohibited on-air talent from being awarded in the Outstanding Weekly Studio Show category.

ESPN has been giving one of its newest show hosts a lot of rope despite a years-long policy of keeping talent on a very short leash.
Pat McAfee has generated reams of unwanted publicity for the Disney-backed sports-media giant in recent days, allowing frequent guest Aaron Rodgers to spread misinformation about vaccinations; insulting Norby Williamson, an influential ESPN executive who manages many studio shows and tries to keep a tight rein on them, and accusing him of working to sabotage his show in talks to media outlets; and giving Rodgers room to call out Jimmy Kimmel, the ABC late-night host who is one of the most high-profile employees in the Disney empire.
Interestingly, few of the controversies that have surfaced on McAfee’s show have anything to do with ESPN’s raison d’etre: games and sports. Such a program is “unsustainable,” says Joel Lulla, a former attorney for ABC Sports...

Aaron Rodgers has ended his appearances on The Pat McAfee Show for the season, the show’s host announced on Wednesday’s episode.
“Aaron Rodgers Tuesday Season 4 is done,” McAfee said. “There’s going to be a lot of people that are happy with that — myself included, to be honest.”
He continued, “The way it ended, it got real loud and I’m happy that that is not going to be my [social media] mentions going forward.”
McAfee was referring to the media storm Rodgers’ appearance created after the New York Jets quarterback insinuated Jimmy Kimmel was on the Jeffrey Epstein list of associates.
Rodgers’ claims had Kimmel threatening legal action, which prompted a back-and-forth interaction and gave the show added attention that McAfee didn’t want. The Super Bowl champ made his last appearance on McAfee’s show on Tuesday to explain his claims about Kimmel and the history of their feud.

As promised, Aaron Rodgers was a guest on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday, where he addressed Jimmy Kimmel’s on-air comments from the day prior about their recent tension and called out an ESPN executive’s remarks regarding the situation.
After Kimmel spent the first seven minutes of ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday criticizing Rodgers’ remarks from last week about Jeffrey Epstein and questioning the NFL star’s intelligence, the New York Jets quarterback said that the conflict between the pair is connected to differing beliefs about Covid-19. In 2022, Rodgers admitted to misleading the media about his Covid-19 vaccination status after he announced the year prior that he was “immunized” before news later broke that he was not, in fact, vaccinated.
“The history of this — whatever this is between Jimmy and I — this goes back to Covid times,” Rodgers said Tuesday on the program that airs on ESPN.

Aaron Rodgers is breaking his silence after what he said last week about Jimmy Kimmel.
Aaron went on The Pat McAfee Show last week and mentioned Jimmy’s name in association with the Jeffrey Epstein documents.
Specifically, Aaron said, “There’s a lot of people, including Jimmy Kimmel, really hoping that doesn’t come out. I’ll tell you what, if that lists comes out, I definitely will be popping some sort of bottle.”
Jimmy slammed Aaron for mentioning him in association with any Epstein documents, and later, slammed Aaron again and reiterated that he’s never had any association with the disgraced financier. Jimmy‘s name was not featured in the documents that were unsealed.
Now, Aaron is speaking out for the first time since all of this went down.
