It's strangely fitting that the Blood in the Snow Canadian Film Festival premiered the same day as Toronto's first annual cold snap, and festival patrons were happy to cram into The Projection Booth's tiny lobby to escape the wind. Hiding from the cold isn't uniquely Canadian behavior, but when called upon to describe what it's like to be Canadian, it is an image that comes to mind, along with Mounties, beavertails and poutine.
Often, being "Canadian" is defined in contradistinction to the uber-nation just below us: the United States, I mean. We Canadians say it's cold because the weather in the States is milder. We say we're multicultural because we added an act to our Charter in 1988. But really, these things mean little in our day-to-day life in Canada. When I was a teen, being Canadian felt like a deficit of something; it meant driving to Buffalo to shop at T.

A film we've been hearing about for a while now, Devil’s Night starring Danielle Harris, finally arrived on DVD this week, and we have all the details right here.
From the Press Release:
Devil’s Night is a retro blast of blood-splattering fun from Mindscape Films & Nictophobia Films that recoils back to the 70’s and 80’s with a slaughterhouse of homages that horror fans will scream for. The movie stars Danielle Harris (Rob Zombie's Halloween, Hatchet II & III), Shawn Roberts (George A. Romero's Diary of the Dead, Resident Evil: Retribution), Steve Byers (House of the Dead, Total Recall 2012), and Boyd Banks (Dawn of the Dead 2004, George A. Romero's Land of the Dead, Hellmouth). Devil's Night is an entertaining, scary horror romp that will inevitably become part of every horror fan’s annual Halloween celebration.
The movie tells the story of five frat boys who are involved in a Halloween prank that ends in murder.

Nictophobia Films' Christopher Harrison and Phil Pattison are a unique team.
They got their start together producing the Stephen King film The Man Who Loved Flowers, which led to the release of Phil's debut feature: grindhouse zombie film Vs. the Dead. That led to doing the director's cut of Devil's Night starring Danielle Harris (Rob Zombie’s Halloween, Halloween 4) and Shawn Roberts (Diary of the Dead, Resident Evil: Afterlife) (on DVD through Black Fawn Distribution on October 30th, 2012).
Nictophobia's next project is unlike any they have ever done before; something that most filmmakers would not even attempt. They are re-imagining George A. Romero’s 1968 Night of the Living Dead as a stage adaptation. The play is directed by Christopher Bond (The Evil Dead Musical) and executive produced by the film's original creators, George A. Romero, Russ Streiner and John A. Russo, to open spring 2013. Funds are currently being raised on...
