Kate Winslet, Sharon Horgan and Ben Whishaw were among those who scooped the top prizes at the BAFTA TV awards on Sunday evening.
The ceremony, which took place at the Royal Festival Hall in London, was hosted by comedians Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan.
Winslet won the prize for best leading actress for her turn in “I Am Ruth,” which also starred her real-life daughter Mia Threapleton. The duo also took to the stage to accept the award for best single drama, with Threapleton tearing up. “We did this together kiddo,” Winslet said as she accepted the leading actress award, adding: “There were days when it was agony for [Threapleton] to dig as deeply as she did and it took my breath away.”
Horgan, meanwhile, thanked her writers as she accepted the award for best drama on behalf of Apple TV+ series “Bad Sisters,” which also saw Anne-Marie Duff take home...

U.K television directors say they are consistently being snubbed at the BAFTA TV awards, which took place in London on Sunday.
“Congratulations to all the fantastic directors at the helm of last night’s BAFTA-winning programs,” tweeted Andy Harrower, CEO of professional screen directors association Directors U.K. “So much work goes on behind the scenes, but at the moment, this is work for which directors are not consistently recognized.”
Harrower went on to tweet that despite BAFTA’s own rules regarding candidates for nominations, which state that directors should be nominated ahead of executive producers, directors regularly find themselves left off the list.
“BAFTA rules state that you may list up to six people in your submission from ‘the core creative team and those who had lead creative contribution to the program,'” Harrower continued. “Directors are the beating heart of any production. The rules also state that...

Run, a 7-episode half-hour HBO comedic thriller series, might just prove to be the kind of raucously random flight of fancy—with just enough of a cynical edge— that the world could use right now.
Vicky Jones created the series. A script editor for Phoebe Waller-Bridge on Fleabag and Crashing, Jones also serves as writer and executive producer here. Of course, Waller-Bridge herself is onboard as an executive producer, and even fields an eccentric recurring role.
Domhnall Gleeson (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker) and Merritt Wever (Unbelievable) co-star on the series as old college sweethearts who—motivated by mysterious and quickly escalating circumstances—embark on an insane adventure.
