I can’t remember watching a home invasion horror movie for a long time and then two come along at once. First, I watched By Night’s End and then The Owners comes along… I wouldn’t say it’s a sub genre I love but it has produced some really great movies – the likes of The Strangers, You’re Next, Don’t Breathe, Inside and Hush are all highly entertaining.
There is a tendency for lower budget home invasion offerings to go down the same path and stick to ideas that have been used time and time again. Meaning that many feel very samey. The Owners, at the very least, does try to do things a little bit different. So much so, that at about the...

"I've told you a thousand times... shoes off at the door!" Rlje Films has released the trailer for a horror thriller titled The Owners, marking the feature directorial debut of French filmmaker Julius Berg. A group of friends think they find an easy score at an empty house with a safe full of cash. But when the owners, an elderly couple, come home early, the tables are suddenly turned. Conceptually this looks like the typical rob-a-big-house-that-looks-empty horror concept mashed up with The Visit. This nice elderly couple are actually maniacs who are going to torture you! Watch out, they are not so nice after all... The Owners stars Maisie Williams, with Sylvester McCoy and Rita Tushingham as the charming Huggins, plus Ian Kenny, Jake Curran, Andrew Ellis, and Stacha Hicks. This definitely looks creepy! But mostly for horror fans. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Julius Berg's The Owners,...

"No offense, but none of you lot look like the killing type." Vision Films has unveiled the official Us trailer for an alternative history drama about crime writer Agatha Christie getting embroiled in a real-life murder case during her 11-day disappearance in 1926. The film is titled Agatha and the Truth of Murder, and originally premiered on TV in the UK in late 2018. It's not slated for release in the Us in the fall of this year. With a script by Tom Dalton (The Pharmacist), set in 1926, the film depicts Agatha Christie investigating the murder of Florence Nightingale's goddaughter and how her involvement in this case then influenced her writing. Ruth Bradley stars as Agatha Christie, with a cast including Dean Andrews, Bebe Cave, Amelia Dell, Richard Doubleday, Derek Halligan, Blake Harrison, Pippa Haywood, Stacha Hicks, and Ralph Ineson. It looks suitably mysterious and alluring, no doubt. Here's the official trailer...
