David Permut ("Youth in Revolt") and Christie Hsiao's Serenity Entertainment have picked up rights to "Without a Badge." The story tells of a New Jersey cop who went undercover into the world of international drug trafficking. Jerry Speziale and Mark Seal wrote the screenplay which centers on Speziale's work as part of the DEA's Group 93 which was established in 1990 in order to battle the Colombian drug cartels. Speziale took the identity of "Geraldo Bartone" and, together with a mysterious informant, apprehended some of the world's most dangerous criminals. Permut Presentations produces and Hsiao will co-produce with Permut VP Steve Longi.
