In Stan Original film Christmas on the Farm, premiering December 1, Poppy Montgomery plays Clementine Jones, an Australian author whose book about getting back to nature on a blissful Queensland farm is snapped up by New York powerhouse publishers London & London. But the truth is, “Clementine” is actually her daughter Emmy Jones, a New Yorker basing the book on her late mother’s journals.
When the publishers announce they want to experience an authentic Australian ‘Clementine’ Christmas before signing the deal, Emmy must race back to the old family farm, roping in her cousin David (Hugh Sheridan) and his husband Miles (Nicholas Brown) to help maintain the ruse. One problem: London & London CEO Ellison London (Jeanette Cronin) shows up with her handsome adult son Jack (Darren McMullen) in tow – and if he remembers the night he met Emmy in New York, the game will be up!
Asmara Felk and Demi Harmon also star.

Stan has announced a slew of new local commissions as it ramps up ambitious plans to have around a third of its first-run slate come from original production.
These include Hoodlum Entertainment feature film Christmas on the Farm, Matchbox Pictures drama Bad Behaviour, and a number of projects with Roadshow Rough Diamond, with whom the Nine-owned streamer has extended its partnership. With the latter it is readying a third season of Bump and a spin-off, Year Of, as well as a Gregor Jordan-helmed crime drama, Ironside.
Last year, Stan flagged it intends to invest in more than 30 productions per year within five years, drawing on Nine’s production facilities and co-productions with international partners including Hollywood studios and international networks.
Earlier this month, the service announced a children’s feature film initiative with the Australian Children’s Television Foundation (Actf), and it has a lengthy list of upcoming local projects...

“Reef Break” will not be back for a second season at ABC.
The series debuted back in June on the broadcaster and aired 13 episodes, with the finale airing on Sept. 13. It starred Poppy Montgomery as Cat Chambers, Ray Stevenson as Jake Elliot, Desmond Chiam as Wyatt Cole, Melissa Bonne as Ana Dumont and Tamala Shelton as Petra.
It focused on Chambers, a thief-turned-fixer for the governor of a stunning and seductive Pacific Island paradise. Impulsive, reckless and irresistible, Cat’s less-than-perfect past gives her an instinctive gift for understanding crime and criminals.
“Reef Break” was created by Ken Sanzel. Mark Rosner, Montgomery, Steve Pearlman, and Ruthanne Secunda served as executive producers on the series. It was produced by ABC Studios and ABC Studios International in partnership with M6.
The show failed to find a significant audience or critical acclaim with its release. In his review for Variety, Daniel D’Addario wrote:...

Unmoored from reason or shame and buoyed by its willingness to be as silly as it wants to be, the new ABC drama “Reef Break” is a wildly unserious piece of television. In that, it’s a bit refreshing — a network series that embraces its network-iness, that has absolutely no ambition beyond evoking a smile. “Reef Break,” about a thief-turned-fixer who finds herself involved in fighting crime on a Pacific idyll, is not particularly distinguished, but as an example of a particular sort of television-making, it’s better-done than it might be.
The series’s cold open is emblematic. Flying into a small Hawaiian island, Cat Chambers (Poppy Montgomery) susses out the flight’s air marshal. Once the plane has landed, she tells him that a fellow passenger is armed and has an open wound bleeding through his shirt; she suspects he committed an armed robbery before the flight. As...

ABC Studios International has put anthology series “Unsung Heroes,” executive produced by Lucy Liu and Ruthanne Secunda, into development.
The scripted show will tell the “untold stories of incredible women who overcame adversity to become pioneers of their time,” showcasing highly accomplished women who were not acknowledged for their achievements during their time.
The first episode will chronicle Asian American female silent film and theater star Anna May Wong.
Liu, who is repped by Framework Entertainment, ICM Partners, and Schreck Rose Dapello Adams Berlin & Dunham, will executive produce through her Moonvision Entertainment production company. Secunda will executive produce through her deal with ABC Studios. In January, the former ICM agent-turned-producer inked a two-year overall deal with the studio to develop comedic and dramatic series under the Ruthanne Secunda Productions banner.
Liu’s manager at Framework Entertainment, Maryellen Mulcahy, will also serve as an executive producer for the series.

Former ICM Partners agent-turned-producer Ruthanne Secunda has signed a two-year overall deal with ABC Studios, Variety has learned exclusively.
ABC Studios International’s 13-episode summer series “Reef Break” marks her first project, which began production in Queensland, Australia, last week. Secunda developed the show while she was still at ICM with longtime client Poppy Montgomery, star of “Unforgettable” and “Without a Trace.”
Montgomery, who first came up with the idea for “Reef Break,” will star in the series. Secunda, Montgomery, and showrunner Mark Rosner will executive produce. Ken Sanzel was previously listed as showrunner on the series.
“We’re thrilled to bring Ruthanne into the ABC Studios family,” said ABC Studios president Patrick Moran. “We’ve worked with her for years as an agent, and marveled at her skills at packaging series and bringing projects to fruition. We’re thrilled to have someone with her taste and great relationships with talent in house.

After 25 years as a talent agent, the past six at ICM Partners, Ruthanne Secunda is leaving the representation side of the business to become a producer. I hear Secunda told the ICM Partners leadership in June of her intention to leave. She announced her decision to her colleagues Tuesday afternoon when she began to inform her clients.
Secunda will be a full-time producer and not a manager-producer. She still plans to work with some of her clients and already has been packaging projects with them to sell. I hear her contract is up early next year but she had asked to be released a little earlier so she can be up and running for the broadcast pitch season this summer.
“There has never been a more dynamic, exciting or prolific time to be in the content-creation business,” said Secunda. “Producing is a natural extension of the skills and relationships I...

Breaking: ICM Partners has hired Ruthanne Secunda, the longtime UTA talent agent whose client roster includes Piper Perabo, Alicia Silverstone and Meg Ryan, Jon Cryer, Lucy Liu and Jane Krakowski, Marcia Gay Harden, Nathan Fillion, Poppy Montgomery, Rebecca Romijn, Zachary Knighton, Jerry O’Connell, Tori Spelling, Michael Imperioli, Tom Cavanaugh and Thomas Sadoski. This all just happened, and there will certainly be a skirmish for clients between Secunda’s new agency and her former haunt. Insiders at ICM Partners said Secunda will fit in perfectly with the culture that the revamped agency is trying to instill. In a joint statement, the partnership said, “Ruthanne has played a vital role over the last decade in cultivating talent and developing and packaging successful television shows. We are thrilled to have Ruthanne as part of the team at ICM Partners.” In 2008, Secunda was promoted to co-head of the TV talent department at UTA,...

A little over a year after he left ICM to join UTA as an agent in the TV Talent department, Mike Jelline has been promoted to co-head of the department. Jelline, who is based in Los Angeles, will co-run UTA‘s TV Talent department with current co-head Nancy Gates, who is based in the agency’s New York office. Ruthanne Secunda, who co-headed the TV talent team with Gates, will re-focus on client representation. This marks Jelline’s return to administrative duty — he headed ICM’s TV Talent department before he left the agency last summer after 12 years. “Mike has been an outstanding addition to the UTA team over the past year, and we believe that Mike and Nancy will make an unbeatable team in continuing to build the department and to provide outstanding opportunities to artists working in television,” said UTA Managing Director Jay Sures. Jelline’s client list includes Aaron Paul,...
